    [001] - AFD 1.2.7
      by Holger Kiehl (http://freshmeat.net/users/hkiehl/)
      Tuesday, July 17th 2001 11:32

About: AFD is a program to automatically distribute files either locally or
to remote hosts. The files are distributed by using FTP or SMTP, and can be
sent in parallel and with priority. It provides a GUI to monitor and
control the distribution and extensive logging of all activities.

Changes: Process FD will not always start a new process to send files.
Instead, it will try to take an existing process. This should reduce the
total number of connections and process creations. The copy function has
been changed so that it uses less memory. The process afdd will not be
started automatically if this is not set in the AFD_CONFIG file. Lots of
    minor bug fixes were made.

    [002] - Aldebaran sniffer 3.0.1 (Stable)
      by Rogal (http://freshmeat.net/users/Rogala/)
      Tuesday, July 17th 2001 12:03

About: Aldebaran is an advanced libpcap-based network TCP sniffer. It gives
a user only a payload from captured data and basic info about addresses and
ports (nothing about flags, etc.). This is useful for monitoring data sent
by connections and sniffing passwords. It supports filtering packets with
not only simple port/address libpcap rules but also payload contents and
can send captured data to another host via UDP. It can also encrypt data
written to a dump file, analyse interface traffic, and present statistics
(packet count, sizes, average speed, etc.) in HTML or a plain text file.

Changes: The ARP and UDP protocols were newly added. A real time process
mode (realized by sched_setscheduler()) was added. Service name is now
    printed instead of port number.

    [003] - Alzabo 0.47
      by Dave Rolsky (http://freshmeat.net/users/urthman/)
      Tuesday, July 17th 2001 16:24

    Categories: Database, Software Development

About: Alzabo is a two-fold program. Its first function is as a data
modelling tool. Through either a schema creation interface or a custom Perl
program, it allows a programmer to create a set of schema, table, column,
etc. objects that represent a data model. Alzabo is also capable of reverse
engineering an existing data model. Its second function is as a
RDBMS-to-object mapping system. Once you have created a schema, you can use
Alzabo classes to access its data. These classes offer a high-level
interface to common operations such as SQL SELECT, INSERT, DELETE, and
    UPDATE commands.

Changes: The last release was missing a file in the tarball. This prevented
the test suite from running properly.

About: Flate is a template library used to deal with HTML code in CGI
applications. The library includes C and Perl support. All HTML code is put
in an external file (the template) and printed using the library functions:
variables, zones (parts to be displayed or not), and tables (parts to be

    [029] - GRAB 0.2.13
      by Greg Kurtzer (http://freshmeat.net/users/gregk433/)
      Tuesday, July 17th 2001 10:53

About: GRAB (Greg's RPM Application Builder) adds functionality and
ease-of-use to RPM, by allowing a user to search through a collection of
RPMs on various FTP servers (given in a configuration file), and download
and install all in one action. It can perform system upgrades, and display
all packages that are "outdated". It also has the ability to be run through
cron, to automatically upgrade all packages (except ones defined in a skip
list) that are available. This is the 'apt-get' for RPM based
    distributions.

Changes: The logging for cron and daemon options was changed. It is now
possible to set the default action (search or match) in the configuration
file. A configuration file option was added which causes the program to
die if running via cron or daemon when network is down.

    [030] - HyperQbs 2.1 alpha 1.0
      by pulrich (http://freshmeat.net/users/pulrich/)
      Tuesday, July 17th 2001 11:25

    Categories: Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries,
    Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers, Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site
Management, Software Development :: Build Tools, Software Development ::
    Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: HyperQbs is an open servlet framework for rapid application
development of enterprise-scale Web applications based on visual components
for the Java 2 platform. HyperQbs fully complies with the new JavaServer
faces (JSR-127) specification being defined in JCP. HyperQbs increases
productivity and allows teamwork, fast prototyping, and incremental
life-cycle development from reusable plug-in components without the need
for JSP/Servlet glue code. HyperQbs provides support for any J2EE and
XML-based application server and development environment. The powerful
Configurable Application Flow (CAF) mechanism enables tailor-made component
assembly without touching a single line of the component's source code,
while the "dynamic face" effect makes your Web application independent of
    any user interface protocol.

Changes: Support was added for JSP parser as an addition to Freemarker,
including features which simplify development and component assembly. The
structure of the HyperQbs application was changed in order to allow the
creation of a WAR file for HyperQbs applications. The runtime.xml
configuration file was extended for specification of parser modules. A new
section, called 'defaultmimetypes', was added to the 'app-properties'
section. This section allows you to specify the MIME types returned for a
particular end device. There are two new examples included in the
    distribution package: 'database' and 'conference'.

About: ifGraph is a set of Perl scripts created to help network
administrators to visualize network flow on a daily, weekly, monthly, and
yearly basis. The graphics are created with RRDTool, and it shows bytes
(in/out) and errors for each interface. It also shows the
current/average/max use and the respective link/interface usage in
percentages. The program also outputs HTML files to make the visualization
of the PNG images more friendly and easy.

Changes: There are no new features in this version. The bug that made
graphics show traffic of about 120M when the SNMP agent was not responding
has been fixed. The code has been cleaned up and some minor bugs corrected
(including ones in the date printing code and in the HTML pages). Users of

    [036] - ISPSuite 2.0.9
      by Martin Cameron (http://freshmeat.net/users/ca7endar/)
      Tuesday, July 17th 2001 04:30

About: ISPSuite is a suite of modular programs written principally in PHP
and Perl for the administration of an ISP. It includes online accounting
functions, report printing, subscriber statistics, and database
manipulation. It uses ICRadius and MySQL for the generation and collection
of data. The Suite also comes with a number of utilities which automate
most of the monthly tasks that an ISP faces. It provides modules for:
dynamic Web site production for subscribers; viewing current subscribers
online; editing facilities for all data held in the database, including
subscriber details; monthly accounting functions to produce online and
printed accounts for subscribers; daily banking facilities to record
payments received by mail and electronically; Debt Collection; assigning of
static IP numbers for subscribers; calendaring and diary modules for
"bring-up" reminders. Users can change passwords, plans, and personal
details online. Subscriber control modules assist administrators with
holding, deleting, and adding email boxes for POP accounts and alias
    accounts.

Changes: You can now edit, add, or delete a subscription plan; edit, add or
delete an agent; view subscriber details on one screen, and edit or delete
email accounts; display users currently online and sort by time online. IP
Address or NAS port dynamically display subscription plans, agents, and

    [051] - MUSCLE 1.81
      by Jeremy Friesner (http://freshmeat.net/users/jaf/)
      Tuesday, July 17th 2001 18:08

About: MUSCLE (Multi User Server Client Linking Environment) is a messaging
server and networking API. It is portable to any OS with a sockets API and
a C++ compiler. It lets programs communicate via streams of
PortableMessages (very similar to BeOS's BMessage class) layered over TCP
streams. The included server program ("muscled") lets its clients message
each other, and/or store information in its serverside hierarchical
database. The database supports queries via regex and "live" updates via a
subscription mechanism, and may be subclassed to if application-specific
    logic is needed.

Changes: Stream operators have been added to the PortableString class.
AtheOS refcounts use atomic_add() for thread safety. Header tweaks to help
MUSCLE code compile cleanly under Visual C++ have been merged in. time.h
includes have been tweaked to compile properly under Debian Linux. Messages
being returned to the global message pool now have their 'what' code set

    [054] - Niggle Web Application Framework 1.03
      by Jonathan Revusky (http://freshmeat.net/users/revusky/)
      Tuesday, July 17th 2001 16:16

Categories: Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content, Software Development
    :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: The Niggle Web Application Framework is built on top of the Java
Servlet API. It is based on a rigorous separation between presentation,
data persistence/validation, and the dispatching logic in your application.
It allows you to specify the "messy stuff" externally -- presentation is
encapsulated in HTML page templates, and your metadata (the definitions of
record, fields, data sources, and restrictions on fields) is defined in
external XML configuration files. Web apps built on Niggle are
astonishingly terse. There is a free example of a full-featured message
board servlet built on top of Niggle in 600 lines of Java code. (Note that
Niggle can be configured to work with either the Freemarker or WebMacro
    template engines.)

Changes: This is the first version that supports using Velocity for page
templates. At this point, Niggle can be configured to use Freemarker,
WebMacro or Velocity for the presentation layer.

    Categories: Internet :: WWW/HTTP, Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors

About: WebPic is an application used to take a directory of digital cam
pictures, and provide a frontend for Web viewing. It allows you to scale
the images to different values, add comments, and display them in varying
HTML styles. It uses ImageMagick for the image processing, and PerlMagick
as the interface. It also requires the use of Tk::JPEG for image display.
Please read the included Readme for more information on development and
    bugs.

Changes: Moved most settings off of the Options button and into the
cascading menu. Added a 'Return' bind for the description bar. Added
underline - '#' values for menu items for quick navigation. Added options
for no descriptions, and for no HTML writing. Added an error window sub.
Added "Cascade" to HTML Style options, and fixed a small bug in win32
    directory names and spaces.

    [082] - WilmaScope 2.0.1
      by Tim (http://freshmeat.net/users/tgdwyer/)
      Tuesday, July 17th 2001 00:29

About: WilmaScope is a Java3D application which creates real time 3D
animations of dynamic graph structures. Graphs are automatically laid out
in 3D using a Force Directed / Spring algorithm. Graphs can either be
produced interactively using Wilma's GUI, or from a remote program via a
CORBA interface. There is also a version of Wilma that produces 3D UML
    Class diagrams.

Changes: Textual data may be added to nodes at run-time, and is available
for viewing and editing by right clicking on nodes and selecting
"Details...". HTML embedded in the nodes will be rendered, and links will
be clickable. More realistic friction and inertia model. Funky new lighting
scheme added (you can change the lighting by editing the
    WILMA_CONSTANTS.properties file).

    [086] - YAP Prolog System 4.3.19
      by Vitor Santos Costa (http://freshmeat.net/users/vsc/)
      Tuesday, July 17th 2001 16:13

About: Yap is a high-performance Prolog compiler developed at LIACC,
Universidade do Porto. Its Prolog engine is based on the WAM (Warren
Abstract Machine), with several optimizations for better performance, and
achieves performance comparable or exceeding that of commercial Prolog
systems. Yap is largely compatible with the major Edinburgh Prolog systems,
and has been ported to most 32-bit and 64-bit Unix based platforms. A
    Windows port is also available.

Changes: Major changes include huge improvements to the garbage collector,
better SICStus compability (modules and the system library), better WIN32
support, (improved support for ^c), and a few other tidbits here and there.
Logtalk is now a part of the system.
