    [001] - Athene 1.1
      by Rocklyte Systems (http://freshmeat.net/users/morbidpriest/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 14:18

Categories: Desktop Environment, Desktop Environment :: Window Managers

About: Athene is a multi-platform runtime environment. Based on XML and an
object oriented foundation, it literally builds itself at runtime from
user-editable XML scripts. It is X11-compatible, so you do not have to give
up any of your existing X applications if you choose to run Athene as your
default environment. Four GUIs are included, including Windows and Amiga
interfaces that are accurate clones of their counterparts.

Changes: Crash recovery has been significantly improved, support for
anti-aliased and translucent fonts has been added, files can now be used
and manipulated directly from DML scripts, slow graphics drawing on 32 bit
X11 servers has been fixed, a bug that allowed files to be copied back to
themselves has been fixed, and the speed of graphical exposure handling has
    been improved.

      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 14:24

About: Autoconf is an extensible package of m4 macros that produce shell
scripts to automatically configure software source code packages. These
scripts can adapt the package to many kinds of UNIX-like systems without
    manual user intervention.

Changes: Many bugfixes, new macros, improved robustness, and better
    documentation.

      by Viet Yen Nguyen (http://freshmeat.net/users/vietyen/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 23:18

About: Ball de Bolo is a maze game written in Kylix, and is fully playable.
The game features an analytical processor, so you don't need another human
to play the game. It's even possible to watch two analytical processors
    play against each other.

Changes: Alpha blending effects, a splash screen, an image-based menu,
about screen, help screen, and more input control like mouse based
navigation, a fix for the AI vs AI game option, and a fix for the game
crashing when the opponent is stuck and you can still make a move.

    [005] - bind 9.2.0b1 (Bind9-Beta)
      by Gael MARTINEZ (http://freshmeat.net/users/gaelik/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 18:13

About: The Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) implements an Internet name
server for Unix operating systems. The BIND consists of a server (or
`daemon') called `named' and a resolver library. A name server is a network
service that enables clients to name resources or objects and share this
information with other objects in the network.

Changes: Several bugfixes and some minor new features. The OpenSSL
library is no longer included with the distribution, which means that to
use DNSSEC, OpenSSL must be installed and the --with-openssl option must be
supplied to configure. This does not apply to the use of TSIG, which does
    not require OpenSSL.

    [006] - chbg 1.4
      by Stevo Ondrejicka (http://freshmeat.net/users/ondrej/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 06:17

About: ChBg is for changing desktop backgrounds in a given period. It can
render images with 10 modes (such as tiled, centered, scaled, etc.). It
uses Imlib1, Imlib2, or gdk_pixbuf for loading images, so it supports many
image formats. ChBg has a windowed setup program, is able to load setup
files, can be used as slideshow picture previewer in its own window or as a
desktop background, and can be used as screensaver or as an xscreensaver
hack. It has a dialog for fast previewing of pictures and very usable
    thumbnail previews.

Changes: Enhanced support for setting desktop background via Enlightenment
WM. Improved code to support transparent terminal emulators. New picture
randomizing code. Improvements of scenario saving code. Better cooperation
with xscreensaver, and naturally some minor bug fixes.

About: CLISP is an ANSI Common Lisp implementation with an interpreter,
compiler, object system, and foreign language interface which runs on most
    UNIXes, Win32, Atari, Amiga, etc.

Changes: Hostname resolution is now optional in EXT:SOCKET-STREAM-PEER and
    EXT:SOCKET-STREAM-LOCAL. EXT:SOCKET-STATUS now accepts SOCKET-SERVERs too,
and the direction of the checks can be specified. Added install.bat for
win32 installation. Fixed handling of circular structs and pointers to
functions in the FFI. Fixed binary I/O for streams with element type longer
than one byte, but not a whole number of bytes.

by Compaq SSI Clustering Laboratory (http://freshmeat.net/users/cpqssi/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 14:09

Categories: System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks, System :: Operating
System Kernels, System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: The Cluster Infrastructure (CI) for Linux extends the Cluster
Membership and Internode Communication Subsystems from Compaq's NonStop
Clusters for Unixware code base. It also provides the basis for the SSI
    Clusters for Linux project.

Changes: Alpha patches have been merged. Most changes deal with int-long
conversions. Trylock code has been moved into arch-specific directories.
ics_flags has been added to net_device to prevent shutting down of the ICS
interface. Cluster-pid (CPID) support has been added.
ssisys_cluster_set_config has been modified to allow resetting of cluster
parameters except when trying to change an already set node number.

Changes: A PREFIX variable has been added to the Makefiles. The
cluster_config command has been modified. In the cluster_start script,
clusternode_num is now called after the cluster has been fully initialized.
User-initialization is commented out for now. If a user wants to run
nodeup initialization commands, put them in the file
/etc/rc.d/rc.local.nodeup. GPL and revision numbers have been updated.

    [012] - Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse 1.0.19
      by Vernon Schryver (http://freshmeat.net/users/vjs/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 16:45

About: The Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse (DCC) is a system of clients
and servers that collect and count checksums related to mail messages. The
counts can be used by SMTP servers and mail user agents to detect and
reject bulk mail. DCC servers can exchange common checksums, which
checksums include values that are constant across common variations in bulk
    messages.

Changes: This release improves `cdcc stats` flood formatting, fixes `cdcc
"host domain.com; stats all", changes dccproc to use the value of the
Return-Path: header for the envelope-From checksum if the header is present
and -f is not used, fixes `dbclean -S -N` when the whitelist is empty, adds
rough support for NetBSD, mentions dccd in the INSTALL file, and has a fix
    for parsing "-L error,LOCAL1.ERR".

About: EHNT (the Extreme Happy Netflow Tool) is a simple tool for getting
information from Cisco's netflow, which can be used for network accounting
and capacity planning. It consists of a server which receives netflow
version 5 packets from routers, plus a client which presents the data.
Multiple clients can be run at the same time to view the data stream in
    different ways.

    [014] - Enqueue 0.1.2beta (beta)
      by Andrew Moenk (http://freshmeat.net/users/deimos/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 23:04

    Categories: Internet :: WWW/HTTP, Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers

About: Enqueue is an HTTP downloader that makes downloading files
significantly less annoying. It downloads queued files, one at a time and
in order. It saves added links in a tree. When a content type of
text/html is downloaded, it is parsed for links, images, frame references,
and a location header. These links appear as children of the downloaded
document in the tree. Color codes are used extensively in the tree and
queue list to signify things such as successful download, aborted or
errored download, file will be overwritten, permission will be denied, and
other errors. Some other features are download stall drop and stall poke
(aborts, then resumes a download to jog a stale connection), multiple
drop-points, execution of a command or script when the queue is emptied,
a full statistics page, and Drag and Drop.

      by scav (http://freshmeat.net/users/scavph/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 04:54

    Categories: Database :: Front-Ends, Other/Nonlisted Topic

About: f2w helpdesk is a Web-based helpdesk package. It allows requests to
be categorised to an arbitrary level of detail using a expert-system-like
question and answer method. Advice and problem-specific information can be
associated with the request categories, thus building up a knowledge base
to speed the resolution of frequently occurring problems. Users can also
add their own tasks, thus using it as a todo list or for workflow within
teams, and notes can be added to each request at any time.

Changes: "Request search" and "All Open Requests" reports have been added,
the SQL code used by the front-end has been changed for compatibility with
Oracle, which can now be used as an alternative to the PostgreSQL back-end,
and some minor bugs have been fixed.

      by duelli (http://freshmeat.net/users/duelli/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 03:23

About: glChess is a 3D OpenGL based chess game using a GTK+ interface via
GtkGLArea. The three dimensional board completely substitutes a real
board, and is somehow more user and eye friendly than a flat 2-D chess
program. glChess does not provide its own chess engine but uses well
known, reliable engines such as Crafty.

Changes: Wiped out limit for lengths of paths, completely rewrote and

About: IntraGnat is a project management/Intranet tool that lets you create
projects, assign team members, add project-specific BBSs with integrated
file transfer, and manage all your company staff personnel in one central
location. The admin can set access levels so each department has functions
to do different admin tasks (create projects, post news, send global notes,
    edit staff profiles, etc).

Changes: This release includes a completely new setup system, and a minor
bugfix in setting default company information.

    [024] - IOG 1.0rc1
      by Jim Dogopoulos (http://freshmeat.net/users/dynw/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 16:59

About: IOG is a network I/O byte grapher made to track KB/MB/GB totals for
hours, days, and months. It is intended to be simple and fast (to support
thousands of hosts), and to integrate well with MRTG. Data for each host is
updated hourly and HTML graphs are created. It uses a data consolidation
algorithm which allows for a small, non-growing database file for each
    host.

Changes: This release adds 64-bit SNMPv2c counter support (backwards
compatible with SNMPv1) and an easier way to change KB/MB/GB size to
    increase accuracy.

    [027] - JGloss 0.9.1
      by Michael Koch (http://freshmeat.net/users/tensberg/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 16:46

Categories: Education, Other/Nonlisted Topic, Text Editors

About: JGloss is an application for adding reading and translation
annotations to words in a Japanese text document. This can be done
automatically and manually. When a text document is first opened, kanji
words will be looked up in a dictionary and the first reading and
translation (if any) used to annotate the word. The user can then edit the
annotations: choose among the readings and translations found in the
dictionaries, enter your own readings and translations, remove annotations,
and add new annotations. The document can be exported as plain text with
    annotations, HTML, or LaTeX.

Changes: This version adds support for KANJIDIC and SKK dictionaries. You
can manage an exclusion list, which contains words which will not be
annotated when importing a document. Index files for EDICT dictionaries can
now be generated by JGloss. Newly opened documents will display faster.
Finally, many bugs have been fixed.

      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 03:47

About: Mesa is a 3-D graphics library which uses the OpenGL API
(Application Programming Interface). Mesa cannot be called an
implementation of OpenGL since the author did not obtain an OpenGL license
from SGI. Furthermore, Mesa cannot claim OpenGL conformance since the

    [049] - Rolodap 0.94
      by wintermte (http://freshmeat.net/users/wintermte/)
      Wednesday, July 18th 2001 14:26

About: Rolodap is a multiuser contacts managment system that uses an LDAP
server to store all user, group, and contact information. It was developed
using PHP, HTML, and Javascript so that it can be accessed from any OS with
a Javascript capable HTML browser. The Web-based interface provides an
easy-to-use front end to the contacts directory, which allows users to
search and organize their contacts into user-created Address Books. A
single contact can appear in any number of Address Books, yet each contact
only exists in the database one time. This means data for each contact only
needs to be updated one time in order to affect change in all user's
    Address Books.

Changes: An export to PDA feature has been added. The company name has been
added to libary/search result views. The library is now sortable by company
name. Support for firm-wide/ company-wide books has been added, so that
there are books that appear in all libary lists. A new field (access codes)
that only admins can change has been added. Any UIDs that appear on this
list are screened from being able to edit that record, and they cannot see
the notes field. The middle initial problem in forms creation has been

    Indexing/Search

About: wdict is a cgi-bin script to access dict dictionaries from a Web
