[001] - ACP modem (Mwave) driver 1.0 (Stable)
      by Steve Fox (http://freshmeat.net/users/drfickle/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 12:14

About: This is a set of Linux drivers for the ACP modem (Mwave), a
WinModem. It is composed of a loadable kernel module and a user level
application. Together these components support direct attachment to public
switched telephone networks (PSTNs) and support selected world wide
countries. This driver provides support for the IBM ThinkPad 600E. The
modem also supports the standard communications port interface (ttySx) and
is compatible with the Hayes AT Command Set.

Changes: The module now builds as mwave.o instead of mwavedd.o. The driver
now registers its UART with the serial driver. Some global function name
cleanups were made. The init script was modified to use the new module
name. Minor HOWTO updates were made to reflect the new module name. Silly
typos were fixed, one of which could prevent mwavem from building, and one
in the mwaved init script module parms. Installation now adds mwave to
    /etc/modules.conf. A README.devfs document is included.

Categories: Communications :: Email, Communications :: Email :: Email
    Clients (MUA)

About: Althea is an IMAP email client for X that uses the GTK widget set.
It was built with the IMAP protocol in mind in order to avoid many of the
pitfalls experienced by POP clients that added IMAP support. Althea allows
easy access to a nearly unlimited number of servers, and has a very small
memory footprint. As of version 0.5.0 Althea also supports IMAP over SSL.

    Changes: Many new features that make working in Althea a lot easier;
highlights include Drag and Drop support for moving messages, optimized
download of headers (a big speed increase), start of sub-folder support,
mail polling, and gettext support for i18n.

Category: System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Astaro Security Linux is a new firewall solution. It does stateful
inspection packet filtering, content filtering, user authentication, virus
scanning, VPN with IPSec and PPTP, and much more. With its Web-based
management tool, WebAdmin, and the ability to pull updates via the
Internet, it is pretty easy to manage. It is based on a special hardened
Linux 2.4 distribution where most daemons are running in change-roots and
    are protected by kernel capabilities.

Changes: Version 1.824 fixes a WebAdmin bug (handling interface definitions
for more then 2 NICs), and a Middleware bug (routes managment during NIC
    config changes).

      by Johnathan Ingram (http://freshmeat.net/users/jingram/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 11:02

Categories: Database, Software Development, Software Development ::
    Libraries

About: DBConnect (Database Connect) API is an easy to use C++ object API
to allow applications to connect to databases. Your DB applications can
now become cross platformed and cross databased. The API currently
implements MySQL, Oracle8, and PostGreSQL drivers in a Unix environment
and MySQL, Oracle8, and ODBC in a Windows environment.

Changes: The Oracle8 driver was added. Some bugs in the dbconn object
wrapper were fixed. A user-defined pointer was added to store custom data
on the BASE_DBField object. The MySQL driver and the Oracle8 driver were
ported to compile on Windows. The method calls were renamed to be more
Java-like. A configure script for Unix was created. The makefiles on Unix
    and Windows were reworked.

    [013] - Dump/Restore 0.4b23
      by Stelian Pop (http://freshmeat.net/users/spop/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 11:26

About: The dump package contains both dump and restore. Dump examines files
in a filesystem, determines which ones need to be backed up, and copies
those files to a specified disk, tape or other storage medium. The restore
command performs the inverse function of dump; it can restore a full backup
of a filesystem. Subsequent incremental backups can then be layered on top
of the full backup. Single files and directory subtrees may also be
restored from full or partial backups.

Changes: This version fixes several bugs, including the 'looping dump' bug
and compressed multi-volume dumps. It also adds some interesting new
features, including the -F script option to restore and enhancements to the
    exclude inode from dump feature.

    [017] - FireSite 0.5
      by dotvoid (http://freshmeat.net/users/dotvoid/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 12:21

About: FireSite is a content management system in PHP targeted at web
developers needing a fixed framework for handling information and access to
that information. The access model is based on roles and users. The system
has an API to access information stored, hiding the access management
completely. Through modules it is easy to add handling of specific
    information needs.

Changes: Initial support for exporting data as XML was added. This enables
you to use XSLT to render pages. The search dialog was simplified. Support
for downloading files handled by FireSite was improved. When changed,
users' roles and access information get updated without having to logout
and in again. Numerous minor bugfixes were made, as well as a general
cleanup of the code which should make FireSite work better under different
    platforms and different PHP configurations.

      Friday, July 20th 2001 19:25

About: GTKtalog is made to easily browse a CD-ROM database. Each disk,
folder and file has a size, date, category, description, and content
parameter and can be completely edited or deleted. The file search module
can do searches on filename, foldername with name, category description,
date, filesize, and content parameter. Each filetype has its own icon. It
possible to use programs like tar, arj, zip, or scripts to extract
information from files to include in the database. Gtktalog can mount,
scan, umount, and eject a CD-ROM in the background.

Changes: A fix for a VFS bug with scanned disks, bugfixes for when files
are not in the list, a fix for a Right-click+edit disk bug, and a fix for a

from Yahoo Calendar and notify you when you have new Yahoo mail. It
includes a few features not available in the windows version, such as an
answering machine and automatic forwarding of incoming messages via email.

Changes: Various bugfixes were made. The building of RPM files was
substantially updated. GNOME and Ximian/GNOME RPM files are now built.

    [033] - Java Serialization to XML 0.8.14.2
      by Brendan Macmillan (http://freshmeat.net/users/yow/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 05:02

About: JSX (Java Serialization to XML) gives you XML persistence and
communication. You need not change your classes or design schema or write
scripts. It just works - even if your classes have changed in the meantime.
Usage is as for Java's own Serialization. JAXB, Jato, and Castor can
require considerable setup, and Swing Serialization to XML only works for
Java Beans. JSX works for all objects, handles evolution of classes, and
needs no setup at all. You can just delegate the whole XML-side to JSX.

    [048] - Open For Business 2001.07.20
      by David E. Jones (http://freshmeat.net/users/jonesde/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 19:06

About: The goal of Open For Business is to create a set of tools and
applications for business software and a community of developers and users
to benefit from it and contribute to it. Java, J2EE, EJB, XML, rules,
workflow, constraint, content management, and analysis are to be used. It
features an advanced code generator for entities (entitygen) that generates
all the code needed for Entity Beans (with deployment descriptors), JSPs,
SQL, and helper code. The templates for entitygen are JSP files, and they
generate code that is ready to run in the ofbiz Web architecture. It also
features an extensive Data Model with over 400 entity definitions in an XML
file that can be used by entitygen.

Changes: Open For Business has combined with the Jaguar e-Business Suite
project, and a major part of that merger was the addition of a controller
servlet and other Web architecture improvements. The entity code generator
has been updated to automatically generate components for entities that
will work in this framework. A number of other incremental features from
the task lists have been completed, including more use of entity relation
models in the EJBs and JSPs.

      by David F. Skoll (http://freshmeat.net/users/dskoll/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 11:58

About: rp-pppoe is a PPPoE client and server suite for Linux, NetBSD,
Solaris, and Mac OS X Beta. It is fully RFC-compliant and supports cookies,
relay-IDs, and multiple simultaneous PPPoE discovery phases. It is cleanly
coded and fairly efficient, and supports kernel-mode PPPoE on Linux 2.4.x.

Changes: In previous versions, the client would incorrectly accept PADT's
from any MAC address and terminate the connection. This has been fixed.
Also, minor fixes were made in the Makefile for Turbolinux.

    [062] - SMS Server Tools 1.2.9
      by Stefan Frings (http://freshmeat.net/users/sfrings/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 18:10

About: The SMS Server Tools were made to send and receive SMS from one or
many GSM modems. They include two simple commandline-driven tools, a
daemon, and sample scripts to build an SMS email gateway. The daemon waits
for files in an outgoing spool directory and sends them. It puts all
received SMS in an incoming spool directory, and can call any external
program for incoming or outgoing notification.

Changes: A fix for duplicating sent SMSes with 157-160 character lengths,
    and better performance.

    [063] - Spgmr08 0.2 (Development)
      by Robert Wuest (http://freshmeat.net/users/rwuest/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 02:29

    Categories: Scientific/Engineering, Software Development

About: Spgmr08 is a Linux software package for use in software development
on the Motorola Mc68HC908GP32 microcontroller. It is a command line tool,
which communicates with a 'GP32 in an SPGMR08/ICD08GP20 through the
Monitor ROM interface. It will read an S19 format data file, and program
that data into a 'GP32. It will also read the current contents to an S19
file. It can also erase the chip. All actions can operate over the whole
memory range or specified portions. A reset and Run feature can be used to
    test the code.

Changes: Initial release - it talks to the chip's monitor program.

    [066] - Text GUI Toolkit 0.f9
      by mteg (http://freshmeat.net/users/mteg/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 04:55

About: Text GUI Toolkit (TGT) allows the programmer to forget about GUI
implementation internals in their textmode application. Designing an
interface now requires only specifying what kinds of controls (windows,
labels, buttons, etc.) are needed, and where they should be placed. All
dirty work, such as formatting, displaying, and handling keyboard
(including controls switching, etc.) is done by TGT. TGT and TGT API were
written in an OO way, but using pure C.

    [067] - TiVo Web Project 1.9.1 (TCL)
      by Lightn (http://freshmeat.net/users/farscape/)
      Friday, July 20th 2001 06:09

    Categories: Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content, Internet :: WWW/HTTP
    :: HTTP Servers

About: The Tivo Web Project is designed to give you a Web interface to your
TiVo using Open Source software. The main reason for doing this is to
create a more powerful and flexible interface. Since the TiVo UI is
proprietary, there is no easy way to change or enhance it. With the
relevant data in a local database, you can do anything you wish, or
interact with a Web server on the TiVo for direct control.

Changes: Several speed optimizations, manual seasonpass/recordings support,
ability to add/edit/delete season passes (beta), and a resource editor.
