    [001] - Advanced TFTP 0.4
      by Remi Lefebvre (http://freshmeat.net/users/remi1/)
      Saturday, July 21st 2001 03:54

About: atftp is a client/server implementation of the TFTP protocol that
    implements RFCs 1350, 2090, 2347, 2348, and 2349. The server is
multi-threaded and the client presents a friendly interface using
libreadline. The current server implementation lacks multicast and ipv6
    support.

Changes: Client statistics support. Better readline support in client.
Daemon mode supported in server. Debconf fr, es, and de translations
    (debian packaging). Autoconf support.

      by Paul L Daniels (http://freshmeat.net/users/pldaniels/)
      Saturday, July 21st 2001 15:00

    Category: Communications :: Email

About: alterMIME is a set of utilities designed to assist in the
modification of MIME-encoded mailpacks often used by Inflex, XaMime, and
other email-scanners. alterMIME can add disclaimers and nullify specified
attachments. alterMIME is part of the commercial XaMime software suite, but
is being offered back to the OpenSource community.

Changes: A problem which caused a segfault when a disclaimer was being
added if an email was not MIME format has been fixed.

Categories: System :: Installation/Setup, System :: Software Distribution,
    System :: Systems Administration

About: The Arusha Project (ARK) seeks to provide a framework and/or tools
for collaborative system administration of multi-platform Unix sites with
    many dozens of machines.

Changes: The 'try out ARK' stuff (sample1) is much improved. ARK engine's
tracking of "provenance" is real now. The macro language (used in params,
etc.) has been revised and documented. Sidai stuff for mass-configuring in
/etc (net-config, sys-config, etc.) really works. There is some support for
HP-UX 11 and Red Hat Linux 7.1. There are some bugfixes and many minor
    improvements.

      by Bruce Korb (http://freshmeat.net/users/bkorb/)
      Saturday, July 21st 2001 18:46

Categories: Other/Nonlisted Topic, Software Development, Software
Development :: Build Tools, Software Development :: Code Generators

About: AutoGen is a tool designed for generating program files that contain
repetitive text with varied substitutions. Its goal is to simplify the
maintenance of programs that contain large amounts of repetitious text.
This is especially valuable if there are several blocks of such text that
    must be kept synchronized.

Changes: The template author may now specify which shell to use for their
template. Documentation was added describing how to generate output in
alternate directories. AutoGen distributed templates will now be found
automatically, providing you install the data in the standard
${prefix}/share/autogen directory. An extraction function was added, so now
you may "carry forward" text from previously generated output, provided it
    lies between well-defined markers.

      Saturday, July 21st 2001 17:55

    Category: Communications :: BBS

About: board-tnk is a discussion board written in PHP. It features very
secure URL checking, support for multiple forums (with only one level
thread allowed for each forum), use of cookies for showing users new
messages since their last visit and storing their information to simplify
new posts, a choice of smiley icons for each message, ability to use a
subset of HTML within the messages, multiple language support (English,
French, German, Dutch, Italian, and Spanish), and a full admin page that
allows you to create and delete forums, entire threads, or answers from a
thread. It is possible to prefix the MySQL tables if only one database is
    allowed on an ISP server.

      by DEMARC ORG (http://freshmeat.net/users/DEMARC/)
      Saturday, July 21st 2001 15:05

About: DEMARC is an all-inclusive network monitoring program that allows
you to monitor an entire network from one powerful Web interface.
Instead of having one program perform file integrity checks, another
program monitoring the connectivity and health of your network, and yet
another monitoring your network for intrusion detection attempts, DEMARC
combines all three services into one powerful client/server program.

Changes: Bugs that caused an infinite loop and drain on server memory have
been remedied, as well as the bad recognition of HTTPS. A brand new INSTALL
doc has been written for this release that will actually guide you through

    Category: Printing

About: Gimp-Print is a collection of very high quality printer drivers for
UNIX/Linux. The goal of this project is uncompromising print quality and
robustness. Included with this package is the Print plugin for the GIMP
(hence the name), a CUPS driver, and a driver for Ghostscript that may be
compiled into that package. This driver package is Foomatic-compatible to
enable plug and play with many print spoolers. In addition, various printer

    [025] - Linux Port/Socket Pseudo ACLs 2.4.7-5 (2.4)
      by anthonyu (http://freshmeat.net/users/anthonyu/)
      Saturday, July 21st 2001 09:08

    Category: Security

About: The Linux Port/Socket Pseudo ACLs patch allows an administrator to
delegate privileges for some protected network resources to non-root users.
The ACLs are generally used to run untrusted or insecure applications as an
unprivileged process, thereby mitigating some undiscovered denial of

    [026] - logmover 0.03
      by Matthias Hensler (http://freshmeat.net/users/matthiashensler/)
      Saturday, July 21st 2001 14:47

Category: System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: logmover archives logfiles generated by the logrotate program. It
renames the files using unique timestamps, moves them to an archive
directory, and compresses them by using external compress programs like
gzip and bzip2. The program is written in C, and is designed to be run by
    cron.

Changes: A bug in move-function has been fixed, the permissions of moved
    files have been changed.

    [027] - monit 1.3.1
      by hauk (http://freshmeat.net/users/hauk/)
      Saturday, July 21st 2001 03:52

About: monit is a utility for monitoring daemons or similar programs
running on a Unix system. It will start specified programs if they are not
running and restart programs not responding. It supports a daemon mode
(poll programs at a specified interval, and start, stop, and restart
programs), logging (syslog or your own logfile), configuration (with a
comprehensive controlfile) runtime and TCP/IP port checking, process
status, and timeout and alert notification.

Changes: Email alert notification is put after server restart. Relevant if
monit watches the local smtp server and use this for alert as well. The
timeout alarm is started before monit tries to open a socket, so monit
doesn't hang on a connection. Possible command-switch exploits removed.

    [028] - mpg321 0.1.2 (Development)
      by Joe Drew (http://freshmeat.net/users/hoserhead/)
      Saturday, July 21st 2001 17:45

About: mpg321 is a command-line mp3 player based on the mad mpeg audio
library. It is designed to be a drop-in replacement of mpg123, and
therefore its interface has been designed around that of mpg123, without
using any of its code. In short, it is a fully free clone of mpg123.

Changes: Fixes to random and shuffled play, and an updated signal handler
so pressing control-c twice doesn't automatically kill mpg321, and so that
when you do exit mpg321 it outputs the file playing time, like mpg123.

      by Paul Ramsey (http://freshmeat.net/users/PWRamsey/)
      Saturday, July 21st 2001 04:08

About: PostGIS adds support for geographic objects to the PostgreSQL

      Saturday, July 21st 2001 18:50

Categories: Communications :: Email :: Mailing List Servers, Security

About: Shibboleth is a privacy and security-aware mailing list manager,
