    Category: Scientific/Engineering :: Artificial Intelligence

About: The Adaptive Song Selection patch makes XMMS adapt its playlist
randomization function to your personal taste. Songs you don't like end up
at the end of the playlist, and songs you like to hear together tend to end
    up next to each other.

    Category: Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: MT News is a PHP News script which has comments and news archiving
functions, as well as the usual news posting functions (editing and
deleting). It also has 3 levels of member access (member, moderator, and
admin), and is written in PHP and uses MySQL for almost everything except
    the settings.

Changes: A fix for a bug where when the administrator deleted a user, their
account was removed instead, and four new features (IP banning, a
navigation window for easier navigating, login messages, and the option to
remove all posts by a particular user).

      Sunday, July 22nd 2001 14:51

About: My Photo Gallery is a Web-based photo gallery. It is easy to setup
and even easier to maintain. Slick-looking image galleries and thumbnails
are generated on the fly from the directory that you specify. Creating an

directory. A Web administration interface is available, and updating is
just as easy. It also includes advanced features such as image logging,
    resizing, and visitor comments.

Changes: Compatability issues with the new ImageMagick 5.3.6 and above
which caused the script to not work have been fixed. The ImageMagick
version may now be specified in the config.

    [037] - PyChecker 0.7.5
      by Neal Norwitz (http://freshmeat.net/users/nnorwitz/)
      Sunday, July 22nd 2001 14:57

About: PyChecker is a tool for finding common bugs in Python source code.
It finds problems that are typically caught by a compiler for less dynamic
languages, like C and C++. Common errors that can be found include
forgetting to import a module, misspelling a variable, passing the wrong
number of parameters to a function/method, and not using a module/variable.

Changes: This release includes selective warning suppression (by
module/function/class/method), a new warning for redefining attributes
(like functions/methods), a new warning for unused parameters, a new
warning for overriding a method with a different signature, and various

    [039] - skel 0.2 (Release)
by exa aka Eray Ozkural (http://freshmeat.net/users/exa/)
      Sunday, July 22nd 2001 04:47

    Category: Software Development

About: The skel package contains various skeleton projects for C/C++. Their
common feature is that they try to be generic, consistent, minimal, and
portable using only standard libraries. They are intended to be good
starting points to write pure C/C++ programs under GNU/Linux systems. Thus,
they assume a recent version of GNU tool chain.

Changes: This release includes a better auto-cxx skeleton, splitting of
justmask into interface and implementation, better multiple library and
program build support with interdependencies, preliminary recursive make
and CVS support, some compatibility fixes for g++-3.0, and some other minor

    Categories: Scientific/Engineering, Software Development

About: Spgmr08 is a Linux software package for use in software development
on the Motorola Mc68HC908GP32 microcontroller. It is a command line tool,
which communicates with a 'GP32 in an SPGMR08/ICD08GP20 through the
Monitor ROM interface. It will read an S19 format data file, and program
that data into a 'GP32. It will also read the current contents to an S19

      by Michal Trojnara (http://freshmeat.net/users/mtrojnar/)
      Sunday, July 22nd 2001 18:24

About: The stunnel program is designed to work as an SSL encryption wrapper
between remote client and local (inetd-startable) or remote server. It can
be used to add SSL functionality to commonly used inetd daemons like POP2,
POP3, and IMAP servers without any changes in the programs' code. It will
negotiate an SSL connection using the OpenSSL or SSLeay libraries. It calls
the underlying crypto libraries, so stunnel supports whatever cryptographic
algorithms you compiled into your crypto package.

Changes: This release contains some transfer() bugfixes/improvements.
STDIN/STDOUT are no longer assumed to be non-socket decriptors. The problem
with --with-tcp-wrappers patch has been fixed. The POP3 and NNTP support
bug has been fixed fixed. A -o option to append log messages to a file has

    [053] - X on DirectFB 1.6.3
      by Denis Oliver Kropp (http://freshmeat.net/users/dok666/)
      Sunday, July 22nd 2001 02:04

About: XDirectFB (ported from XGGI) is a partly-accelerated X server which
uses DirectFB in fullscreen mode to do hardware-independent graphics and
input. Window movements and solid rectangle fills are accelerated. The
development goal is to create a DirectFB Window (using DirectFB's window
stack instead of running in fullscreen mode) for each X top level window
and use DirectFB Surfaces for Pixmaps and Images (like the GDK backend
does). This way you get a fully-accelerated X server with seamless
    integration into the DirectFB desktop.
