    [001] - AdaSockets 0.1.14
      by Samuel Tardieu (http://freshmeat.net/users/tardieu/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 19:45

    Category: Software Development :: Libraries

About: AdaSockets is a library that lets you use sockets in Ada 95. It
supports unicast and multicast sockets, and uses object oriented structures
    to ease sockets manipulation.

Changes: A fix for a bug in Get_Sock_Port and Get_Peer_Port which, under
certain conditions, did not return the right value.

    [002] - Astaro Security Linux 1.804 (Cobalt)
      by astaro (http://freshmeat.net/users/astaro/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 09:54

Category: System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Astaro Security Linux is a new firewall solution. It does stateful
packet inspection filtering, content filtering, user authentication, virus
scanning, VPN with IPSec and PPTP, and much more. With its Web-based
management tool, WebAdmin, and the ability to pull updates via the
Internet, it is pretty easy to manage. It is based on a special hardened
Linux 2.4 distribution where most daemons are running in change-roots and
    are protected by kernel capabilities.

Changes: This version automatically adds virus pattern updates and fixes an
    accounting calculation bug.

    [003] - AurigaDoc 1.0b (Beta)
      by Khurshidali Shaikh (http://freshmeat.net/users/khurshid/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 11:57

About: AurigaDoc is a java-xml-xsl based documentation engine for writing
xml documents, and converting them to other open formats like HTML and
pdf. The idea is to keep a single document source (such as XML) and
convert it to various formats using XSLT. While converting the XML to
HTML, you have the option of either creating a single HTML file for the
entire document or multiple HTML files, where each file contains a single
section in the document with links to other sections.

    [004] - Ayam 1.0beta3
      by Randolf Schultz (http://freshmeat.net/users/randolfschultz/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 13:05

    Category: Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Modeling

About: Ayam is a free 3D modelling environment for the RenderMan
interface. It features good RIB export, CSG (all RenderMan primitives
supported), and NURBS modelling. Features instancing, arbitrary number of
modeling views, object clipboard, independent property clipboard, n-level
undo, console, and Tree-View with Drag-and-Drop support.

Changes: The third beta of Ayam features a lot of bugfixes, much improved
Mops import, automatic instancing, and example scenes.

    [005] - dot.conf 1.0.5 (Stable)
      by Lukas Schröder (http://freshmeat.net/users/azzit/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 11:52

    Category: Software Development :: Libraries

About: dot.conf is a simple configuration-file parser library written in C.
The configuration files created for dot.conf look very similar to those
used by the Apache Webserver. Even Container-Directives known from
httpd.conf can easily be used in the exact same manner as for
Apache-Modules. It supports various types of arguments, dynamically
loadable modules that create their own configuration options on-the-fly, a
here-documents feature to pass very long ARG_STR data to your app,
${NAME:-default} style environment variable substitution for arguments, and
on-the-fly inclusion of additional config files. Some behaviour can be
toggled with flags at runtime. To keep dotconf from printing out warnings,
you can install your own customized errorhandler.

Changes: A segmentation fault which occurred with ARG_INT and ARG_TOGGLE if
the argument was missing was fixed. Several memory leaks were fixed.

useful for building data warehouses. It consists of a building system
including mkmf (a xmkmf like Makefile generator), esh (a powerful C/C++
interpreter), efeudoc (a document generator with different output formats
(LaTeX, HTML, roff, etc.)). EFEU has a huge set of C library core
features, including robust memory allocation tools, functions to
concatenate and copy strings with memory allocation, buffers for
dynamically-growing strings and fields, data structures with reference
counters and garbage collection, and file tools that allow you to specify
pipes wherever a filename is expected and support automatic implementation
of (de)compression filters (gzip) depending on filename extensions. It also
includes a high-level interface to files, strings, and anything else you
can read from or write to.

Changes: This release includes a missing io_close in Doc_input.

    [007] - ELOG Electronic Web Logbook 1.0.2
      by Stefan Ritt (http://freshmeat.net/users/stefanritt/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 06:27

    Categories: Database :: Database Engines/Servers, Database :: Front-Ends,
    Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers

About: ELOG Electronic Web Lobgook is an electronic logbook with a Web
interface. It can be used to maintain personal or shared logbooks, with the
ability to add attachments to logbook pages. Logbook entries can be
categorized with user-defined classes, and queried using filters on these
classes. The ELOG server is a small stand-alone C program, which runs under
Linux and Windows. The logbooks are saved in plain ASCII files for easy and
    fast access.

Changes: This release adds the possibility of accessing the electronic
logbook server via secure SSL connections using the stunnel program.

    [008] - Enqueue 0.1.3 (Beta)
      by Andrew Moenk (http://freshmeat.net/users/deimos/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 09:44

    Categories: Internet :: WWW/HTTP, Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers

About: Enqueue is an HTTP downloader that makes downloading files
significantly less annoying. It downloads queued files, one at a time and
in order. It saves added links in a tree. When a content type of
text/html is downloaded, it is parsed for links, images, frame references,
and a location header. These links appear as children of the downloaded
document in the tree. Color codes are used extensively in the tree and
queue list to signify things such as successful download, aborted or
errored download, file will be overwritten, permission will be denied, and
other errors. Some other features are download stall drop and stall poke
(aborts, then resumes a download to jog a stale connection), multiple
drop-points, execution of a command or script when the queue is emptied,
a full statistics page, and Drag and Drop.

Changes: New features include session hostname lookup caching,
regex-powered search selection, agressive downloading, a context popup menu
for the tree, and auto-selection of URLs upon their addition. `<area ' was
added to the list of parsed referential tags. The HTTP request headers were
fixed to work properly with Roxen Challenger. Pre-header stall-out is now
possible. Server poke now works correctly. Queue keyevents are now hooked.

    [009] - Ettercap 0.5.4 (Devel)
      by ALoR (http://freshmeat.net/users/alor/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 10:21

    Categories: Security, System :: Networking

About: ettercap is a network sniffer/interceptor/logger for switched LANs.
It supports active and passive dissection of many protocols (even ciphered
ones, like SSH and HTTPS). Data injection in an established connection and
filtering (substitute or drop the payload) on the fly is also possible,
keeping it alive. You can sniff connections between local and remote hosts
through a gateway using the MAC-based sniffing mode. Plugins are supported.
It has the ability to check whether you are in a switched LAN or not, and
to use OS fingerprints to let you know the geometry of the LAN.

Changes: This version has been ported to Mac OS X (Darwin 1.3.x). A reverse
IP matching option (-R) was added. The source IP can now be spoofed on
start up. The delay between ARP requests can now be customized on startup.
The OS fingerprint database was updated. The IRC dissector and triton
plugin were enhanced. The arpcop, phantom, and imp plugins were added.
Fixes were made for the "make_label" compilation problem, a segfault on OS
fingerprinting, the ip_forwarding restoration bug, and some ncurses
    visualization errors.

    [011] - Firewall Builder 0.9.3
      by Vadim Kurland (http://freshmeat.net/users/vkurland/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 03:15

Category: System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Firewall Builder consists of a GUI and set of policy compilers for
various firewall platforms. It helps users maintain a database of objects
and allows policy editing using simple drag-and-drop operations. The GUI
and policy compilers are completely independent, and support for a new
firewall platform can be added to the GUI without any changes to the
program (only a new policy compiler is needed). This provides for a
consistent abstract model and the same GUI for different firewall
platforms. It currently supports iptables and ipfilter.

Changes: This version comes with a new objects discovery method which
crawls the net sending SNMP queries to hosts. It also includes a number of
improvements to the iptables policy compiler, and bugfixes for some
problems reported during testing of 0.9.2.

About: JIGS (Java Interface for GnuStep) allows Java programmers to use the
GNUstep libraries from Java, but it is more than a set of bindings for
GNUstep from Java: it takes advantage of the fact that Objective-C and Java
are very similar languages to make it possible to use Objective-C classes
from Java using exactly the same API (and vice versa). Moreover, JIGS can
generate automatically wrappers for your own Objective-C GNUstep
    libraries.

Changes: This version features new advanced support for exposing
enumeration: the wrapper tool can now recognize and parse enumeration
declarations in the Objective-C header files, so it automatically maps them
to ints. It can expose any enumeration you want upon request by using
static Java constants in a class.

    [034] - MP3::Daemon 0.60
      by John BEPPU (http://freshmeat.net/users/beppu/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 09:22

About: MP3::Daemon is an object-oriented Perl module that creates a daemon
that exports the functionality of mpg123. This makes it possible for client
programs to issue commands to the daemonized mpg123. MP3::Daemon offers a
Perl framework which can programmers can use to custom tailor their desired
playlist semantics for an MP3 player. The included client program, named
'mp3', provides end users with a utility that allows them to control the
MP3-playing daemon with short commands that release the terminal after
    executing.

Changes: A bug in randomization was fixed. The new() and spawn() methods
now take named parameters. A bug which caused Audio::Play::MPG123 to hang
if a player was stopped and someone tried to stop or pause it was fixed. A
kill command was added to the client program, in case of further hanging
problems. A file thanking all who provided feedback was added.

    [035] - MultipartRequest 1.19
      by Jason Pell (http://freshmeat.net/users/jasonpell/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 12:06

About: MultipartRequest parses a multipart form data input stream, and
saves any files/parameters encountered for subsequent use. It supports both
CGI and Servlets. Files can be uploaded to memory(for database
application), or streamed to the file system. Support has been added for
international characters, however this feature has not been rigorously
    tested.

Changes: The MultipartRequest was moved into a package. The library is now
provided in a jar archive for ease of use. Unfortunately, this may require
changes to classes that use it. A bugfix was made for a problem which
occurred with Netscape where if a file was uploaded with an unrecognised
extension, no Content-Type was specified. In this case, the first line of
the file was chopped off. The structure of the parse method was also

be running, and without giving users shell access. It supports sending and
receiving attachments, multiple folders, user themes and preferences,
templates for interface generation, quotas, language translations, etc.

Changes: This release fixes charset problems in error messages and the

    [040] - Overflow 0.5.1
      by Jean-Marc (http://freshmeat.net/users/jmvalin/)
      Thursday, July 26th 2001 13:51

About: Overflow is a "data flow oriented" development environment. It can
be use to build complex applications by combining small, reusable building
blocks. In some way, it has similarities with Simulink and LabView,
although it is not designed to be a clone of any of them. Overflow features
a GUI that allows rapid application development and a visual debugger.
Although Overflow can be used as a rapid prototyping tool, it can still be
used for building real-time applications, such as audio effects processing.
Since overflow is not really an interpreted language, it can be quite fast.

Changes: A major bug was fixed in the GMM code. The first working version
of the Fuzzy Logic toolkit was added. It is now safe to install overflow
with --prefix=/usr. The core of Overflow (not the GUI) was ported to Win32.
The first working version of the C++ code generator was added. Instead of
saving into a XML file, C++ code is generated and can be built to produce
stand-alone applications using dynamically loaded toolboxes.

application will let you download, install, upgrade, or remove RPM
packages/sources as well as upgrade the entire distribution with ease.

Changes: A getlists function was added to allow a user to download the
database lists from an FTP server. This option will allow rpm-get to
perform much more quickly for any FTP sites that include these lists. A bug
that disabled the upgrade function was fixed. The ability to only upgrade a
    single package was added.

Categories: Communications, Communications :: Chat, Communications ::
Conferencing, Security, Security :: Cryptography, System :: Networking

About: SILC (Secure Internet Live Conferencing) is a protocol which
provides secure conferencing services in the Internet over insecure
channels. SILC superficially resembles IRC, although they are very
different internally. The purpose of SILC is to provide secure conferencing
services. Strong cryptographic methods are used to secure all traffic. The
SILC is delivered as SILC Client for end users, SILC Server for system
administrators, and SILC Toolkit for application developers.

Changes: This release fixes a security problem in the SILC Key Exchange
protocol implementation. The SILC Mutex API and the SILC Threads API were
defined. Multi-threads support was implemented. The SILC Schedule API was
rewritten, and the SILC Task API was removed. The Win32 support was
completed and fully tested. The new message flag, SILC_MESSAGE_FLAG_SIGNED,
was defined. The IDENTIFY command was redefined, and other minor bugfixes
    were made.

About: Spgmr08 is a Linux software package for use in software development
on the Motorola Mc68HC908GP32 microcontroller. It is a command line tool,
which communicates with a 'GP32 in an SPGMR08/ICD08GP20 through the
Monitor ROM interface. It will read an S19 format data file, and program
that data into a 'GP32. It will also read the current contents to an S19
file. It can also erase the chip. All actions can operate over the whole
memory range or specified portions. A reset and Run feature can be used to
    test the code.

Changes: This is the first release which supports erase/program/verify
operations, at least in the interactive mode.

      Thursday, July 26th 2001 14:03

About: ThumbNails is an automated system for creating and maintaining web
sites containing large numbers of photographic images. It will go through
a group of directories filled with pictures, make thumbnail images of each
picture, make HTML pages for each directory showing clickable thumbnails
for each picture, and make an overall index.html document for the HTML
pages it creates. It has a daemon which can run in the background,
periodically checking the images directory and updating the site as
needed. It also includes an optional CGI script and output template, so
that the images can be shown in a background of your choice.

Changes: The ability to specify directories to omit from the search path

a ulogd daemon which keeps track of events (login, logout, etc.) sent via,
for example, the startup and reset scripts of xdm.

Changes: This program has been tested for months, and it is fully
