About: ADODB is a set of advanced PHP database wrapper classes. It supports
MySQL, PostgreSQL, Interbase, Oracle, MS SQL 7, Sybase, DB2, FrontBase,
Foxpro, Access, ADO, and generic ODBC. A metatype system is built in,
making it possible to figure out that types such as CHAR, TEXT, and STRING
are equivalent in different databases. It also features an SQL to HTML
popup menu and SQL to HTML table support.

Changes: Recordset caching, updating, and inserting now implemented. Oci8
UpdateBlob support added. PostgreSQL stability improvements.

About: Adgali is a library designed to develop games. It uses the SDL
library and provides 2D graphical functions, sound streaming and events
functions, video streaming, AI engines, and map generator. This software is
    primarily designed for LINUX.

Changes: New features in this version include drawing of bitmap fonts, a
unified font system for character and string display, a unified file parser
for resource loading and description (in development), an icon list (in
early development), enhanced channel treatment (split, combine, replace),
enhanced zones treatment, and the ability to draw arbitrary one-color lines

About: Andromeda dynamically converts folders and subfolders of MP3s into
an easy-to-use Web site with dynamic playlist generation. Other supported
formats include WMA, OGG, MPG, AVI, WMV, and many more. It's great as a
personal jukebox, on a local network, and over the Internet (bandwidth
permitting). Additional features include skins, custom playlists,
logons/accounts, and a search tool. No database is required. ASP and PHP
    versions are available.

Changes: Some installations of the Xitami web server fail to properly
return $PHP_SELF, which in turn keeps Andromeda from properly
auto-configuring. This verson (PHP only) compensates for that behavior.

      by Chris Lilley (http://freshmeat.net/users/chrislilley/)
      Thursday, September 6th 2001 00:42

About: Batik is a Java-based toolkit for applications that want to use
images in the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format for various purposes,
such as viewing, generation, or manipulation. It gives developers a set of
core modules (parsers, generators, DOM implementation) which can be used
together or individually, and be highly extensible. It comes with a
    full-fledged SVG viewer.

Changes: HTTP headers fields (useragent/accepted) now implemented.
Anti-aliased gradients (when color-rendering set to quality). Small
patterns are now much faster. Now has the ability to flush cached image
data. Full horizontal and vertical kerning now implemented for SVG fonts.
Added support for orientation and language glyph attributes. Improved
support for Arabic text, including handling of Arabic shaping, and
ligatures for both SVG and system fonts. Improved text selection and

    Administration, Utilities

About: changedfiles is a framework for simple filesystem replication,
security monitoring, and/or automatic file transformations -- essentially
any application where you'd poll files or directories. The changedfiles
system consists of two parts: a kernel module (currently works kernel
versions 2.4 and higher) which reports to a special file whenever a file on
the filesystem changes, and a daemon which runs in user space and can be
configured to do almost any action when a file matching the patterns it
    looks for changes.

Changes: A utiltiy to allow conditionial command execution for two argument
system calls has been added (e.g., execution only if a rename target
    matched, not the rename source).

    [011] - Cheese Tracker 0.2.2
      by reduz (http://freshmeat.net/users/reduz/)
      Thursday, September 6th 2001 09:43

    Category: Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Sound Synthesis

About: Cheese Tracker is a program to create module music that aims to have
an interface and feature set similar to that of Impulse Tracker. It also
has some advantages such as osciloscopes over each pattern track, more
detailed sample info, a more detailed envelope editor, etc. So far it only
works in Unix (since it uses GTK--), but all the interface/audio code is
fully modular and abstracted in individual classes, which should make the
porting of this program to other platforms extremely easy.

Changes: Preliminary WAV sample loading was added. Some crash bugs were
fixed. A new mantainer needed, since the current author no longer has time
    to work on Cheese Tracker.

      by Martin Blais (http://freshmeat.net/users/blais/)
      Thursday, September 6th 2001 23:33

    Category: Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search

About: Curator is a powerful script that allows one to generate Web page
image galleries with the intent of displaying photographic images on the
Web, or for a CD-ROM presentation and archiving. It generates static Web
pages only - no special configuration or running scripts are required on
the server. The script supports many file formats, hierarchical
directories, thumbnail generation and update, per-image description file
with many fields, and 'tracks' of images spanning multiple directories.
The templates consist of HTML with embedded Python. Running this script
only requires a recent Python interpreter and the ImageMagick tools.

Changes: Global rc file support, misc. functions in the common environment,
fixes for bugs with filenames containing spaces, a fix for commandline
option confusion, and support for specifying affinity for an image
    representation.

Category: Software Development :: Version Control :: CVS

About: cvs2html is a Perl program to transform the output of 'cvs log' to
HTML. The HTML output will show the revision log history, differences
between versions and enable a flexible configuration of the amount of
information the user likes to see from the CVS repository. cvs2html can be
used for any type of cvs archive.

      by David Sitsky (http://freshmeat.net/users/sits/)
      Thursday, September 6th 2001 11:58

Categories: Software Development :: Version Control :: CVS, Utilities

About: Cvsplot is a Perl script which analyses the history of a CVS-managed
project. The script executes on a set of files, analyses their history, and
automatically generates graphs that plot lines of code and number of files
    against time.

Changes: Cvsplot can now be used on specific CVS branches to generate
branch-specific statistics/plots. The script automatically detects when the
branch was created and when the final commit was. By default, the main
trunk is used if no branch is specified.

    Categories: Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players, Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
    :: Players :: MP3

About: Cymbaline is an intelligent learning (weighted playlists) music
player. It sets a score for each track based on your listening habits, and
you can set thresholds to create playlists with your favorite tracks
automagically. In random mode, it will play your favorite tracks more
often. Cymbaline also allows album-based navigation: you can start playing
the next album, skip 2 albums ahead, go to a specific album, etc.

Changes: In random mode a list of last-played tracks is kept and doesn't
repeat the same track soon after it was played, a new mD command for
random dir mode, a directory with high scoring tracks will be chosen more
often, the #rmdir command removes directory from disk, several commands to

      Thursday, September 6th 2001 18:01

    Categories: Database :: Front-Ends, Office/Business, Software Development

About: DataVision is a database reporting tool similar to Crystal Reports,
written in Ruby. Multiple database backends (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle,
ODBC) and frontends (LaTeX, XML, comma- and tab-separated data files,
DocBook, and HTML) are supported. DataVision uses XML files to describe
reports. Reports can both load and save XML report files.

Changes: This release can handle data with embedded newlines. The LaTeX
layout engine wraps long values within the bounds of the field. When
writing reports to XML, the database host and port are saved. Sections can
now cause a page break before themselves, after, or both. There are the

      by Vernon Schryver (http://freshmeat.net/users/vjs/)
      Thursday, September 6th 2001 09:21

Categories: Communications :: Email, Communications :: Email :: Filters

About: Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse (DCC) is a system of clients and
servers that collect and count checksums related to mail messages. The
counts can be used by SMTP servers and mail user agents to detect and
reject bulk mail. DCC servers can exchange common checksums. The checksums
include values that are "fuzzy", or constant across common variations in
    bulk messages.

Changes: The FUZ1 checksum no longer tries to ignore the last line. Dccm
now treats missing Message-ID header lines as if they are present but null.
    Other changes were also made.

      by Ricardo Sartori (http://freshmeat.net/users/sartori/)
      Thursday, September 6th 2001 16:01

Category: Communications :: Chat :: Internet Relay Chat

About: ircGraph is a Perl script that connects to an IRC server to get
statistics via the /lusers command. It then puts the stats in an RRD (Round

network using RRDTool. It was created to help ircadmins visualize and
understand the traffic on their ircservers and in the IRC network.

Changes: This release generates stats for more than one IRC server. You can
understand when the server splits, and see the total users on each server
and on the network. The program also sees the rrd files automatically, so

      Thursday, September 6th 2001 11:49

    Category: Software Development :: Debuggers

About: mpatrol is a link library that attempts to diagnose run-time errors
that are caused by the wrong use of dynamically allocated memory, including
writing to free memory and memory leaks. Along with providing a
comprehensive and configurable log of all dynamic memory operations (such
as malloc(), operator new, etc.) that occurred during the lifetime of a
program, the mpatrol library performs extensive checking to detect any
misuse of dynamically allocated memory and has support for both memory
allocation profiling and tracing. A wide variety of library settings can
also be changed at run-time via an environment variable, thus removing the
need to recompile or relink in order to change the library's behaviour.

      Thursday, September 6th 2001 09:40

Category: Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation

About: X10 Activity Grapher is a web based interface that plots activity of
the X10 system based on the signals received from any 2- way X10 computer
interface, e.g. CM11A/CM12A, etc. It displays data in three different ways,
including graphics. It is written in pure PHP, and depends on xtend (or
another X10 daemon) to record data, and jpgraph to generate graphical
plots. A web server with PHP support is required.

Changes: The data storage was completely changed. Now all data is stored in
one file. Nearly all methods were rewritten, resulting in greater speed.
Bright/dim and all lights on/all units off is now supported. The program is
now aware of Lights VS appliances. It does not dim/bright these appliances,
and it does not turn on these appliances for all-lights on. Statistics are
now printed on top, and the version is printed on the bottom. Users should

    [078] - XML-Lit 1.1

    Markup :: XML

About: XML-Lit is a simple program to perform very basic literate
programming with any XML-based markup language. It uses James Clark's Expat
XML parser to weave (convert to a form suitable for processing) and tangle
(extract the source code from) your XML documents. It has only been tested
with DocBook at the moment, but there is no reason why it should not work
    with any arbitrary XML markup.

Changes: Support for external entities has just been added, although there
are some problems with this feature (see the BUGS file). A few minor fixes
have also been made to the code.

    Category: Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players

allows you to listen to more than 14000 famous C64 game and demonstration
    songs.

Changes: This release includes the latest STILView release v2.16, displays
STIL file-global comments for current song, removes the "configure" warning
