[003] - BBIagent Router 1.3.1
by BBIagent.Net (http://freshmeat.net/users/BBIagent/)
Friday, September 7th 2001 09:28
Category: System :: Networking :: Firewalls
About: BBIagent is a single floppy Linux-based router for sharing a
broadband Internet connection. It also serves as a firewall to prohibit
intruders from accessing your LAN. You can create your own BBIagent router
software (a diskette file image) on our server based on your hardware
configuration (NICs) and connection protocol (e.g. PPPoE, PPPoATM or
DHCP). It is very easy to install and use.
Changes: This release supports PPP with 56K modems and PPTP over Ethernet
connections. Connection tracking is now shown, as well as the lease time of
an IP address for DHCP. The connect-on-demand bug was fixed.

Friday, September 7th 2001 09:56
Categories: Scientific/Engineering, Scientific/Engineering ::
Bio-Informatics, Scientific/Engineering :: Chemistry,
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization
About: Ghemical is a molecular modelling software package with a GUI (one
for the GLUT library, and another for GNOME), and some nice
3D-visualization tools. It supports methods based on both molecular
mechanics and quantum mechanics (using MOPAC7, and MPQC for QM). The
geometry optimization (for MM and QM) and molecular dynamics (for MM)
algorithms are included. Ghemical is written in C++, and hopefully offers a
good framework for a generic freeware molecular modelling tool.
Changes: Major improvements were made in quantum mechanics support:
semi-empirical methods are now supported using MOPAC7, and algorithms and
plotting also work. Other improvements include a simplified forcefield for
proteins, new stereo display modes, and a random conformational search tool
for molecular mechanics models. Many individual enhancements were made in
the user interface and configurability.

[031] - keychain 1.1
by Daniel Robbins (http://freshmeat.net/users/gentoo/)
Friday, September 7th 2001 20:08
Categories: Security, Utilities
About: keychain helps you to manage RSA and DSA keys in a convenient and
secure manner. It acts as a frontend to SSH-agent, but allows you to
easily have one long running SSH-agent process per system, rather than
the norm of one SSH-agent per login session. This dramatically reduces the
number of times you need to enter your passphrase - with keychain, you
only need to enter a passphrase once every time your local machine is
rebooted. keychain also makes it easy for remote cron jobs to securely

[058] - Timo's Rescue CD Set 0.8
by Timo Benk (http://freshmeat.net/users/tbenk/)
Friday, September 7th 2001 10:57
Categories: System :: Boot, System :: Software Distribution
About: Timo's rescue CD set provides an easy way to generate bootable
CDROMs with a ready-to-use rescue system on them. The system is designed to
be fully customizable and easy to build. The rescue system includes
reiserfs, parted, partimage, nmap, w3m, bash, sshd, telnetd, ftpd, and
nfsd. It is based on Debian's "woody" release. The project is evolving more
and more into a "Debian on CD" project, which means that its use is not
limited to a rescue CD: it is also possible to install a whole debian
system on CD. Non-Debian distributions can also be used as the base for the
rescue system, but this software is not optimized for such cases.
Changes: Another initrdfs system which is only 80k gzipped was added. A
script which creates a bootable floppy disk to boot into the rescue system
was added. A FLOPPYSIZE parameter was added to the config file to control
whether 2.88MB or 1.44MB floppy disk images will be created. syslinux and
isolinux were updated to version 1.63. The packages were updated. The
utils/double script was fixed. The scripts/config/config_interfaces script

About: tReadingList is a set of PHP3/4 scripts designed to provide a list

templates to specify formatting of the reading list pages, providing
complete control of page appearance to the webmaster. The system's backend
is provided by a MySQL database, and support is included for generation of

code.

and maintain complex Web sites. It is modular, pluggable, and platform
independant. It was designed to allow the people who create the content,
to manage it online, rather than content management taking up the time of
busy IT Staff. Whether you are building a consumer site, an intranet, or
an extranet, WebGUI has something to offer.
Changes: A diagnostic tool for checking your system environment to ensure
you have the correct requirements installed, that your database and config
files are set up properly, and that you have the lastest version of WebGUI,
a new "empty trash" function, a logging system for both errors and
warnings, a database-agnostic pagenation system, a new ability to switch
admin on or off from the account menu, and many minor feature
enhancements/bugfixes.

About: Wing IDE is an IDE for Python. Its features include a graphical
debugger with the ability to debug remote processes such as Web CGIs, and a
powerful source code editor that supports syntax highlighting,
auto-completion, auto-indentation, a source structure menu, multi-part key
bindings, keyboard/command macros, and an Emacs personality. It also
includes a module- and class-oriented code browser that is updated as
source code changes.
Changes: Structural folding, automatic brace match highlighting, and
bad-indent indicators were added to editor. The debugger now supports
wxPython based programs, and can be used to debug Python code embedded in a
non-Python application. Significant improvements were made in startup time
and in Win32 resource usage. Zope 2.4 support was added, and many other
bugfixes were made. Upcoming pricing changes were announced.
