    [001] - Aapl C++ Template Library 2.5.1
      by Adrian Thurston (http://freshmeat.net/users/age/)
      Friday, August 9th 2002 14:31

    Software Development :: Libraries

    About: Aapl is a C++ template library for generic programming. It contains
    Linked List, Avl Tree, Vector, Binary Search Table, Double Ended Queue,
    and Merge Sort. The library is designed to be versatile for the
    programmer. For example, the linked list utilizes both inheritance and
    templates to allow a single instance of a data structure to be an element
    in multiple lists. In general, Aapl data structures do not have private
    data members and are thus not abstracted away.

    Changes: Iterators were slimmed down to basic forward and backward
    single-step iteration. An iterator for the non-linked AVL tree was
    written.

    System
    System :: Systems Administration

    About: Alist is a program that collects hardware and software information
    about systems and stores it in a database for users to browse and search
    via a Web interface. The program consists of three parts: a client portion
    that collects the information, a daemon that receives data sent from
    clients, and a CGI that displays and lets you search for information.
    Clients for Solaris, Linux, FreeBsd, OpenBSD, and Mac OS X are currently
    available.

    Changes: This release adds modules for FreeBSD and OpenBSD, adds a bunch
    of collection routines to the Mac OS X module, updates some code to run on
    older versions of Perl, adds some Javascript to the CGI form to help
    choose search categories, and has bugfixes to the daemon.

    takes source files, processes them, and produces output. These are done
    via expansions, which are snippets of Python code delimited by character
    sequences involving a special prefix (by default the at sign, ''), and
    are substituted in the output with the return value (for expressions) or
    with any in-Python printing to stdout that takes place (for both
    expressions and statements). If the value of an evaluated expression is
    None, nothing is expanded (that is, it acts like the interactive Python
    interpreter). Textual data not explicitly delimited in this way is sent
    unaffected to the output file, allowing Python to be used in effect as a
    markup language. Explicit expansion, or inclusion of other files to be
    expanded, is possible. Also supported are m4-style diversions, where
    output can be systematically deferred and recalled.

    Changes: Support for changing the prefix from within the 'empy'
    pseudomodule.

    Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)
    Communications :: Email :: Post-Office

    About: MailMan is one of the most stable, mature, and robust Web-based
    email systems available. The overall goal of the system is to provide the
    simplest possible way to add a Web-based email system to any Web site, so
    ease of installation and maintenance was the first goal in MailMan's
    design. It has no dependencies and no known incompatibilities with any Web
    server or mail server. It supports sending and receiving attachments, a
    single-frame or multi-frame interface, HTML-formatted messages, user
    options, address books, mail folders, and more.

    Changes: Automatic support for APOP logins to POP3 servers that support
    APOP was added. The interface templates were tweaked slightly to eliminate
    a slight purple tint to the background of the default blue-and-ripply
    background.

    one thing: fetches news feeds from Web sites and lets you view them in
    your email client.

    Changes: A bug where some messages would be stored in such a way that they
    appeared to have no message ID has been fixed. There is an autosubscribe
    feature for community sites using Slash, Virgule, or PHP-Nuke, weblogs
    that use either a <link> tag or an xml.gif image to point to their RSS

      by Joe Orton (http://freshmeat.net/users/jorton/)
      Friday, August 9th 2002 20:44

    Internet :: WWW/HTTP

    About: neon is an HTTP and WebDAV client library for Unix systems, with a
    C language API. It provides high-level interfaces to HTTP/1.1 and WebDAV
    methods, and a low-level interface to HTTP request/response handling,
    allowing new methods to be easily implemented.

    Changes: This release includes many bugfixes (particularly in the SSL

    [050] - OpenRatings 1.2

    Internet :: WWW/HTTP
    Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

    About: OpenRatings is a PHP/MySQL-based engine and Web site template for
    rating professors. The site sports a quick survey and free-form comments,
    and allows students to search for the best professors on their campuses
    based on a number of criteria. OpenRatings is great for students that want
    to start (and maintain) a professor evaluation site on their own campuses,
    as well as for smaller universities who want to allow their students to
    rate professors.

    Changes: A brand new user interface subsystem was introduced, which makes
    it significantly easier to customize your OpenRatings UI to a specific
    campus or site. Anyone who was unfortunate enough to look at the 1.0/1.1
    code will appreciate how much cleaner 1.2's separation of logic and
    presentation is. Anyone considering an OpenRatings site should base their
    work on the 1.2 release, as it is largely incompatible with the 1.0 and
    1.1 releases (which are no longer maintained).

    About: rdiff-backup backs up one directory to another. The target
    directory ends up a copy of the source directory, but extra reverse diffs
    are stored in a special directory so you can still recover files lost some
    time ago. The idea is to combine the best features of a mirror and an
    incremental backup. rdiff-backup can also operate in a bandwidth-
    efficient manner over a pipe, like rsync. Thus you can use rdiff-backup
    and ssh to securely back up to a remote location, and only the differences

    [065] - recurrance 1.1
      by drake42 (http://freshmeat.net/users/drake42/)
      Friday, August 9th 2002 02:21

    About: recurrance takes a date recurrance expression in near-English, and
    returns all the dates that match. For example, entering "the second and
    last friday of every month" might tell you all the dates on which you
    should get paid. It is very explible and easy to use, and complies to RFC
     2445 RRULE implementations with the exception of BYWEEKPOS, WKST, and
    the start and end dates, which are done using the code interface. It
    also supports an XML version of RRULE, includes tests, and is completely
    self contained.

    Changes: This release features a BYSETPOS rule (which can make selections
    like the first and last Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of each month),
    and an OFFSET rule (For example, select every quarter hour starting from
    timestamp, but only on even hours less than 10). This can be handy if your

    About: TUTOS (The Ultimate Team Organization Software) is a groupware or
    ERP/CRM suite that helps small to medium teams manage various things in
    one place. Its features include personal and group calendars, an address
    book, product and project management, bug tracking, installation
    management, a task list, notes, files, mailboxes, and useful links between
    all of the above.

    Changes: This release fixes all the bugs that appeared since the last
    release on July 26. There were login problems with some PHP installations,
    display problems with some browsers, and missing documentation. It was
    also not functioning with Oracle ORA connected databases.

    [078] - uClibc 0.9.13
      by Erik Andersen (http://freshmeat.net/users/andersee/)

    Software Development :: Embedded Systems
    Software Development :: Libraries
    System :: Operating System

    About: uClibc (µClibc) is a C library for developing embedded Linux
    systems. It is much smaller then the GNU C Library, but nearly all
    applications supported by glibc also work perfectly with uClibc. Porting
    applications from glibc to uClibc typically involves just recompiling the
    source code. uClibc even supports shared libraries and threading. It
    currently runs on standard Linux and MMU-less Linux (also known as
    µClinux) systems with support for ARM, i386, h8300, m68k, MIPS, mipsel,
    PowerPC, SH, SPARC, and v850 processors.

    Changes: Three security vulnerabilities have been fixed. There is Hitachi
    SuperH shared library support, new malloc, and lots of other fixes and
    improvements.

    [079] - UgLy Game Search Engine rc1

      Friday, August 9th 2002 22:56

    Games/Entertainment
    System :: Monitoring

    About: The UgLy Game Search Engine quickly searches the network for game
    servers, and then lists them in a qstat-formatted file and html for use by
    other programs, such as Server Query and Gametrakker. The script itself
    uses very little memory and bandwidth and will happily run in the
    background. It supports games such as Quake 1/2/3, Unreal, Jedi Knight 2,
    Half Life, and many more.

    Changes: ServerQuery now uses IP address instead of DNS. Gametrakker
    options were removed due to the fact that UgLyGS does it all now. Tribes 2
    no longer needs to search each port; it can now use the broadcast. Support
    was added for qstat V25b with many changes to make it work. New game
    support was also added for America's Army, Neverwinter Nights, and V8
    SuperCar Challenge.

      by Vladi Belperchinov-Shabanski (http://freshmeat.net/users/cade/)
      Friday, August 9th 2002 14:09

    Software Development :: Libraries

    About: VSTRING is a C++ library which provides a large set of string
    manipulation features, including dynamic string objects that can be freely
    exchanged with standard char* types (so there is no need to change
    function calls nor the implementation when you change from char* to String
    (and vice versa)). The main difference from other similar libs is that the
    dynamic String class has no visible methods (except operators); it is used
    as a plain char*, but it will expand/shrink as needed. VSTRING also
    provides Perl-like arrays and hashes (VArray and VTrie) and a VRegexp
    class which automates regexp pattern matching.

    [083] - Weather Plotter 2.0.4
      by Jason Buberel (http://freshmeat.net/users/jbuberel/)
      Friday, August 9th 2002 02:12

    Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

    About: Weather Plotter is a program for anyone who likes to gather, track,
    and look at historical weather data. It uses PHP to gather weather
    information from the US National Weather Service Web site on an hourly
    basis, then allows you to view that weather data in several convenient
    graphical charts within your Web browser. Charts are generated in
    real-time using the PNG format, and can be easily customized. Supports
    PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Access, MSSQL, and others for data storage.

    Changes: The display of x-axis lables was modified to make the labels more
    readable on wide graphs. An error in the display of angled axis labels was
    fixed, and the bundled versions of JpGraph and ADODB were upgraded.

    your website, or any collection of remote sites you choose. It supports
    multiple languages including Spanish, German, French, and Hebrew, and can
    also index PDF, Word, and Excel files using available filters. It has a
    Web administration interface that manages multiple archives.

    Changes: This release has a simplified search form that builds boolean
    queries automatically, more customization capabilities, an option to print
    results as 'sentences' rather than lines, and a 'smarter' install for

    Internet :: WWW/HTTP
    Multimedia :: Video
    Multimedia :: Video :: Capture

    About: WebVCR+ is a Web frontend to record your TV shows from, which has a
    TV Guide-like interface. You can record your shows to many different
    formats, and convert them during the idle time your computer isn't
    recording. You can also add favorites and manage your video library
    through the Web interface. Listings can be specified in XMLTV format, or
    grabbed from advalvas/eurotv. You can also easily add different
    commandline video recorders.

    Changes: This release fixes several bugs with recording, the lockfile, and
    the +time to the start and end of the program. Updating the listings no
    longer schedules conflicting programs. The same episode of a program will
    only be scheduled to be recorded once, instead of being recorded every
    time. Improved Video Library management lets you browse subdirectories.

    [088] - Wollabot 0.2.2
      by Christian Jørgensen (http://freshmeat.net/users/chrj/)
      Friday, August 9th 2002 09:21

    Communications :: Chat :: Internet Relay Chat

    About: Wollabot is a modular service bot for IRC channels. It's written
    entirely in PHP, making it crossplatform and easy to customize. It's not
    supposed to be guarding channels and does not contain such functionality,
    thus increasing performance for the tasks it is supposed to do. It comes
    bundled with a couple of modules (e.g., a PHP function prototype lookup
    and a Google lookup tool).

    Changes: The socket code has been completely rewritten to use non-blocking
    sockets for better performance. Configuration is now done in an external
    file, providing much more clarity to the configuration process. This also
    gives you the opportunity to load certain modules for a specific channel.
    There are three new bundled modules.

    Database :: Front-Ends
    Internet :: WWW/HTTP
    Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

    About: Wuff's MovieDB (WMDB) is a MySQL database with a nice PHP frontend
    to catalogue DivXs, VCDs, SVCDs, DVDs, movies, or anything else you might
    want to catalogue. It connects to Amazon's IMDB (Internet Movie Database)
    to get most information about the movie and stores it in the database. If
    covers are available they will be shown with the complete movie
    information.

    Changes: This release finally features 4 CD support. A configuration
    option has been added to select which fields should be updated when using
    the AutoUpdate-Function. The default sorting method can be changed to
    imdb-rating instead of alphabetically. The GMP_MOD Function has been
    replaced with a standard PHP option. The state will now be preserved when
    adding/deleting/editing a movie (e.g., when inside a type and clicking on
    edit, after editing you will be sent to that type again [not for search
    results]). Local stored covers can be uploaded to the server in a
    different directory.
