    Games/Entertainment
    Multimedia :: Graphics
    Software Development :: Libraries

    About: Allegro is a multi-platform game library that provides many
    functions for graphics, sounds, player input (keyboard, mouse, and
    joystick), and timers. It also provides fixed and floating point
    mathematical functions, 3D functions, file management functions,
    compressed datafile, and a GUI.

    Changes: A bug with graphics mode switching using an ALT+key combination
    under Windows has been fixed. A new dat2c utility. win_set_window() can be
    called after the library has been initialized. There are fixes to
    midi_seek() and the dat2s utility. Detection of ESD and aRts under Unix
    has been fixed. There is new page flipping/triple buffering code for the
    Windows port. Compilation problem with Cygwin have been fixed. Sample
    load/save functions can be registered, and a save_sample() function was
    added. A keyboard focus problem under BeOS has been fixed. There is
    improved HTML and INFO documentation output, and a new section was added
    to the manual.

    [002] - Cricket Cage alpha-0-2-0
      by dwalend (http://freshmeat.net/users/dwalend/)
      Sunday, August 25th 2002 22:06

    About: Cricket Cage automatically creates JUnit TestCases for repeatable
    bugs and test scenarios. Extend the GeneratesCode aspect, include Cricket
    Cage's AspectJ code in your compilation to install the code generator,
    then run the program to generate the TestCase. Finally, add the test case
    to your build.xml to repeat the test on every build.

    Changes: This release simply updates the project to use aspectj 1.0.6 and
    a final release of velocity 1.3. Other small changes include some details
    in building and packaging. ajdoc has been fixed by removing tools.jar from
    ant's class path. build.xmls now shares properties from files. Manifest
    information has been added to toolkit.jar and cricketcage.jar.

    Software Development :: Version Control
    Software Development :: Version Control :: CVS

    About: cvsd is a wrapper program for CVS in pserver mode. It will run 'cvs
    pserver' under a special uid/gid in a chroot jail. cvsd is run as a daemon
    and is controlled through a configuration file. It is easy to configure
    and provides tools for setting up a rootjail and managing repositories.

    Changes: A bug was fixed in cvsd-passwd. Enhancements were made to
    cvsd-buildroot and fixes in the portability wrappers for older systems
    were made.

    [004] - CyberNeko HTML Parser 0.6.6
      by Andy Clark (http://freshmeat.net/users/andyc2/)
      Sunday, August 25th 2002 19:29

    Text Processing :: Markup :: HTML
    Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

    About: NekoHTML is a simple HTML scanner and tag balancer that enables
    Java application programmers to parse HTML documents and access the
    information using standard XML interfaces. The parser can scan HTML files
    and "fix up" many common mistakes that human (and computer) authors make
    in writing HTML documents. NekoHTML is written using the Xerces Native
    Interface (XNI) that is the foundation of the Xerces2 implementation. This
    enables application programmers to use the NekoHTML parser with existing
    XNI tools without modification or rewriting code.

    Changes: This release fixes lots of minor bugs, updates the HTML parser
    configuration to implement the XNI XMLPullParserConfiguration interface,
    adds a feature to strip comment delimiters from script tags, upgrades the
    dynamic entity feature from "experimental" to "supported", and adds
    regression tests. The archive is built with the name and version in the
    base directory name.

    [005] - CyberNeko Pull Parser 0.1
      by Andy Clark (http://freshmeat.net/users/andyc2/)
      Sunday, August 25th 2002 22:20

    Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

    About: NekoPull is an XML document parsing API that extends the Xerces
    Native Interface (XNI) to provide pull parsing functionality. The pull
    parsing paradigm is different from tree-based APIs like the Document
    Object Model (DOM) and event stream APIs like the Simple API for XML (SAX)
    in that the application controls the parsing of documents. NekoPull is
    similar to lex in that the application requests, or pulls, the document
    information one piece at a time instead of having document information
    pushed to the application.

    About: DBX works using XML files as its native format. The database can be
    queried using standard SQL queries. DBX is the smallest, platform
    independent DBMS, and is extremely easy to migrate to. For small
    databases, it is a good substitute for MySQL, Oracle, etc. The added
    advantage is that it saves the data as neat, readable, XML files, allowing
    easy compatibility.

    [009] - empy 1.3
      by Eleventh Hour (http://freshmeat.net/users/xihr/)
      Sunday, August 25th 2002 01:44

    Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
    Software Development :: Code Generators
    Software Development :: Interpreters

    About: empy is a system for embedding Python expressions and statements in
    template text; it takes empy source files, processes them, and produces
    output. This is accomplished via expansions, which are special signals to
    the empy system and are set off by a special prefix (by default the at
    sign, ''). empy can expand arbitrary Python expressions and statements in
    this way, as well as a variety of special forms. Textual data not
    explicitly delimited in this way is sent unaffected to the output,
    allowing Python to be used in effect as a markup language. Also supported
    are recording and playback via diversions, and dynamic and chainable
    filters. The system is highly configurable via command line options.

    Changes: This release includes pseudomodule as a true instance, and moves
    toward more verbose (and clear) pseudomodule functions. The diversion
    model was fleshed out, there are filters, conditional expressions with
    '[...]', protected expressions with '<...>', and preprocessing with '-P'
    (in preparation for possible support for command line arguments).

    [011] - gentoo 0.11.32
      by Emil Brink (http://freshmeat.net/users/emilbrink/)
      Sunday, August 25th 2002 07:44

    Desktop Environment :: File Managers

    About: gentoo is a file manager written in C. It uses the GTK+ toolkit,
    and the two-pane concept, somewhat inspired by DOpus. gentoo strives to be
    very configurable, and also to let you do all configuration from a GUI
    within the program itself. Using advanced file typing and styling systems,
    gentoo determines how to display files in its listings, and also how to
    act on them. The package includes a set of ~100 unique handcrafted icons,
    for many different types of files.

    Changes: New versions of autoconf and automake are now used, which should
    improve portability. Directory history handling was improved, and is now
    harder to fool when inodes get reused. Internationalization was improved
    by adding more strings to the .pot file. Vertical pane position handling
    and large file support were improved. Support was added for more modifiers
    to mouse bindings. Dialogs can be set to center on screen instead of
    always following the mouse. An official translation into Polish is
    included.

    System :: Monitoring
    System :: Networking :: Monitoring

    About: GKrellM is a GTK and Imlib-based stacked monitor program that
    charts SMP CPUs, disk, load, active net interfaces, and internet
    connections. There are also monitors for memory and swap, file system with
    mount/umount feature, mailbox checking including POP3 and IMAP,
    clock/calendar, APM laptop battery, CPU temperatures, and uptime. It has
    LEDs for the net monitors and an on/off button and online timer for PPP.
    There is a GUI popup for configuration, plugin extensions can be
    installed, and many themes are available.

    Changes: This release has been ported to GTK+ 2.0 and the system dependent
    interface has been restructured. A gkrellm server has been added, and the
    main gkrellm program may be run in client mode to collect data from the
    server. This version also runs under Windows. Plugins written for the 1.2

    About: OPENdj is Internet radio station software that supports multiple,
    geographically dispersed DJs, thus implementing public-access Internet
    radio. OPENdj is not playlist software nor is it a streamer. Rather, it is
    a a timeslot scheduling engine and a stream-access coordinator. Its
    features include automatic archival of all broadcasts, searching of
    archived broadcasts, and automatic rerun scheduling with a pluggable rerun
    selection algorithm. The broadcasting software used by DJs to relay their
    signal to OPENdj features listener monitoring and real-time, text-based
    chatting with listeners.

    Changes: libopendj was enhanced by making the server engines restartable.
    A new project, called opendj-winamp, was added to embed an OPENdj client
    in a Winamp plugin. Lots of other minor fixes were made throughout
    libopendj, and it now compiles on Win32.

      Sunday, August 25th 2002 11:50

    Games/Entertainment :: Simulation

    About: Particle Simulation is a playful simulation game which allows you
    to spray particles into the "air". The number of simulated particles is
    only limited by the speed of your computer. The particles don't interact
    with each other, but will bounce back from the ground and accelerate
    depending on a gravity constant. This constant can be changed (along with
    a number of other parameters) in the source code or via commandline
    parameters.

    Changes: Capture and Playback options were added. This allows you to
    capture your moves in a plain ASCII file for later playback. Colors are
    more vivid now. A segmentation fault was removed, and a dual processor
    option was added.

    About: The web-chpass utility allows users to change their account

    the primary concerns, and runs on systems that use PAM to manage user

    [054] - xterm patch #167
      by T.E.Dickey (http://freshmeat.net/users/tedickey/)
      Sunday, August 25th 2002 14:57

    Desktop Environment
    Terminals :: Terminal Emulators/X Terminals

    About: The xterm program is the standard terminal emulator for the X
    Window System. It provides DEC VT102/VT220 and Tektronix 4014 compatible
    terminals for programs that can't use the window system directly. If the
    underlying operating system supports terminal resizing capabilities (for
    example, the SIGWINCH signal in systems derived from 4.3bsd), xterm will
    use the facilities to notify programs running in the window whenever it is
    resized.

    Changes: This release adds support for luit (a program which provides
    support for non-UTF-8 locales), and experimental support for readline.
    Control sequences sent by shifted cursor keys have been changed. There are
    various other bugfixes.
