Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Conversion
About: abcm2ps is a package that converts music tunes from ABC format to
PostScript. Based on abc2ps version 1.2.5, it was developed mainly to
print baroque organ scores that have independant voices played on one or
more keyboards, and a pedal-board. It introduces many extensions to the
ABC language that make it suitable for classical music.
Changes: This release fixes several bugs and add new features. Line breaks
can now be forced with '!'. Any character is now accepted in U:. New
straight gracenote flags were added. The adjustment of tunes across pages
was improved.

About: acoc is a regular-expression based colour formatter for programs
that display output on the command-line. It works as a wrapper around the
target program, executing it and capturing the stdout stream. Optionally,
stderr can be redirected to stdout, so that it, too, can be manipulated.
acoc then applies matching rules to patterns in the output and applies
colours to those matches.
Changes: A bug that caused command line arguments with spaces to be
expanded to multiple arguments has been fixed.

[010] - changedfiles 0.9.7
by Philip Antoniades (http://freshmeat.net/users/pantoniades/)

System :: Archiving
System :: Archiving :: Backup
System :: Archiving :: Mirroring
About: changedfiles is a framework for filesystem replication, security
monitoring, and/or automatic file transformations--essentially any
application where you'd poll files or directories and either do something
to them or send them somewhere else (or both). The difference is, the
kernel tells you when they change, instead of you having to poll. Besides
which, it's an easy real time FTP push mirror to one or multiple sites.
The changedfiles system consists of two parts: a kernel module (works with
Linux kernel version 2.4) which reports to a device whenever a file on the
filesystem changes, and a daemon which runs in user space and can be
configured to do almost any action when a change to a file matching the
one of the patterns it looks for is reported. The kernel module is SMP
safe and has been tested on Intel, PowerPC, and Alpha.
Changes: A bug in the command action that was causing all commands to
return true even if they were still running or failed has been fixed.
French documentation has been added. The autotools system has been updated
to automake 1.6 for more uniform builds across platforms. A README-REDHAT
with RedHat build hints has been added. Compiler warnings have been fixed.

About: IBM OpenDX, the successor to IBM Visualization Data Explorer,
(known simply as DX) is a general-purpose software package for data
visualization and analysis. It employs a data-flow driven client-server
execution model and provides a graphical program editor that allows the
user to create a visualization using a point and click interface.
Applications can also be built on top of portions of the Data Explorer
system, so that custom, turnkey applications can be easily developed using
DX as the computational and rendering engine.
Changes: This release contains bugfixes, code cleanup and restructuring to
permit better support of multiple platforms from a common code base, and
enhancements to the user interface. It is built with "libtool", which
allows users to build shared libraries that can be used with other
languages such as Python. Significant new contributions to the user
interface include a tree display for the tools, an undo option within the
Visual Programming Environment, automatic graph layout for networks, and
the ability to move modules on the canvas with the keyboard cursor keys.

[073] - WANPIPE 2.3.0-0 (Stable)
by Nenad Corbic (http://freshmeat.net/users/ncorbic/)
Tuesday, July 8th 2003 13:49
Communications
System :: Networking
System :: Operating System
About: WANPIPE S-series is a family of intelligent multi-protocol WAN and
ADSL adapters that support data transfer rates up to 8Mbps. All WAN
protocols supported by WANPIPE are implemented in firmware and run on the
card. An advantage of an intelligent adapter is that it offloads the
system CPU and improves stability. By adding a Sangoma WAN/ADSL component
to the Linux kernel, one can create a powerful multi-T1/ADSL
router/firewall with proven reliability of Linux. Sangoma S-series cards
support an optional on board T1/E1 CSU/DSU that eliminates all external
components of a traditional routing solution: i.e. T1/E1 line can be
directly connected to the card. WANPIPE supports the following protocols,
ATM, ADSL, Frame Relay, PPP, MULTILINK PPP, CHDLC, X25(API), BitStreaming
(API), BiSync(API), and SDLC(API). Furthermore, WANPIPE supports custom
API development such as: Credit card verification, Voice-over IP,
Satellite Comm. All device drivers are part of the standard Linux Kernel
distribution.
Changes: The /usr/sbin/wanrouter startup script is now able to start
external scripts for each action performed on WANPIPE devices. The script
location is configurable in /etc/wanpipe/wanrouter.rc. The
/usr/sbin/wancfg configuration utility has been updated to create/edit all
external global, device, and interface scripts. Each script is executed as
a Bash2 shell script.

[078] - ZoneMinder 0.9.14
by Philip Coombes (http://freshmeat.net/users/pcoombes/)
Tuesday, July 8th 2003 05:40
Multimedia :: Video
Multimedia :: Video :: Capture
Multimedia :: Video :: Display
About: ZoneMinder is a suite of applications intended for use in video
camera security applications, including theft prevention and child or
family member monitoring. It supports capture, analysis, recording, and
monitoring of video data coming from one or more cameras attached to a
Linux system. It also features a user-friendly Web interface which allows
viewing, archival, review, and deletion of images and movies captured by
the cameras. The image analysis system is highly configurable, permitting
retention of specific events, while eliminating false positives.
ZoneMinder supports both directly connected and network cameras and is
built around the definition of a set of individual 'zones' of varying
sensitivity and functionality for each camera. This allows the elimination
of regions which should be ignored or the definition of areas which will
alarm if various thresholds are exceeded in conjunction with other zones.
All management, control, and other functions are supported through the Web
interface.
Changes: This release contains some major functionality improvements as
well as some important bugfixes. The major new features are the ability to
optionally run ZoneMinder in authenticated mode and the transition of
configuration from being compiled in statically to being dynamic and
editable from the Web interface.
