Information Management
Office/Business :: Scheduling
Software Development

About: 2do is a simple to-do list manager written in PHP and using a MySQL
database backend. It supports unlimited numbers of projects, has templated
HTML allowing for complete customisation, and is publically viewable by
all. Administration is done by providing a password.

Changes: Improvements were made to the todo entry form when the incorrect
password is entered. A bug that prevented "done" from being set when
creating a new entry was fixed. The documentation was converted to HTML,
and the default templates were improved.

Communications :: Email
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries

About: Anamail is an email statistics gatherer. It allows you to construct
a database and to gather arbitrary information from each email message to
go into the database. Facilities are provided to write generic analysis
routines in Perl CGI/mod_perl to display results on Web pages. Sample
files are included to demonstrate gathering of author, date, mailing list,
and MUA for email messages and to do simple analysis of the results.

Changes: Grouping of matches was introduced. Options were added to limit
matches to the header or body separately. Command-line option handling,
alternative configuration files (with the -C option), and more verbose
diagnostics (with the -v option) were added.

  Saturday, November 8th 2003 19:09

Database
Utilities

About: Bookcase is a personal book collection manager for KDE. It uses an
XML file storage format, and tracks 26 book properties by default.
Unlimited user-defined fields are allowed. Author names are automatically
formatted, and the collection may be sorted by any property. Filters are
available to limit the visible books by definable criteria. Full
customization for printing is possible through editing the default XSLT
file. Automatic ISBN validation is included. It can import CSV, Bibtex,
and Bibtexml and export CSV, HTML, Bibtex, and Bibtexml.

Changes: Support for bibliographic, video, and music collections was
added. Two new field types, single and double-column tables, were added.
Bibtex and CSV files can be imported, and both HTML and CSV can be
exported. There's a "Tip of the Day" dialog, and config dialogs for
toolbars and shortcut keys. Printing was improved, so that entries are
sorted as in the view, only the visible entries are printed.

  by Thomas Worthington (http://freshmeat.net/users/nagora/)
  Saturday, November 8th 2003 11:58

Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: POP3

About: Coherent Mail Gateway is intended to be a very easy to set up MTA
using SMTP and POP3. Greylisting is used on the SMTP daemon to reduce
spam. In addition, quite a lot of checks on the validity of information
from the SMTP client (such as claimed server name and sender) are carried
out, and anyone caught telling lies is disconnected. As well as
greylisting, black and white listing is also supported. The target market
is small offices and home users with static IPs. Others can use the
system but its value will be limited.

Changes: Spam checking using Spamhaus.org DNSBL service is now an option
via the command line, as is invocation of ClamAV virus checking (which is
not included, but can be found at freshmeat.net/projects/clamav). Timeouts
during sending of email were also added.

[011] - CWirc 1.7.0
  by Pierre-Philippe Coupard
(http://freshmeat.net/users/pierrephilippecoupar/)
  Saturday, November 8th 2003 19:02

Communications :: Chat :: Internet Relay Chat
Communications :: Ham Radio

About: CWirc is a plugin for the X-Chat IRC client to transmit raw Morse
code over the internet using IRC servers as reflectors. The transmitted
Morse code can be received in near real-time by other X-Chat clients with
the CWirc plugin. CWirc tries to emulate a standard amateur radio rig: it
sends and receives Morse over virtual channels, and it can listen to
multiple senders transmitting on the same channel. Morse code is keyed
locally using a straight or iambic key connected to a serial port, or
using the mouse buttons, and the sound is played through the sound card,
or through an external sounder.

Changes: The frame format has been extended to support high-speed Morse,
the squelch/volume generation method has been corrected, and a CWirc
extension interface has been created to allow external helper programs to
interact with CWirc.

  Saturday, November 8th 2003 15:01

About: DebSync is a Python command line tool which helps to synchronize a
bunch of Debian GNU/Linux machines with respect to the list of packages
installed. DebSync retrieves the list of installed packages from a master
host, and then installs or removes packages on any number of other hosts
to make them have the very same installed packages list as the master
host.

Changes: An update of the available packages list is now done with apt-get
prior to any modification on a remote host. A man page was also added.

[015] - dnspython 1.2.0 (Stable)
  by Bob Halley (http://freshmeat.net/users/rthalley/)
  Saturday, November 8th 2003 01:36

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)
Software Development :: Libraries :: Python Modules
System :: Networking

About: dnspython is a DNS toolkit for Python. It supports almost all of
the record types. It can be used for queries, zone transfers, and dynamic
updates. It supports TSIG authenticated messages and EDNS0. dnspython
provides both high and low level access to DNS. The high level classes
perform queries for data of a given name, type, and class, and return an
answer set. The low level classes allow direct manipulation of DNS zones,
messages, names, and records.

Changes: The timeout support was overhauled and now works on Python 2.2
as well as 2.3, and the total time spent processing a query is more
controllable, as timeouts are now on the whole query instead of just on
individual network calls. The master file reader now gives the filename
and line number of the offending input when a syntax error occurs.
$INCLUDE is now supported in DNS master files. BIND 8-style TTLs such as
"1w2d3h4m5s" are accepted when reading a master file, but will never be
emitted. Basic zone sanity checks are made after a zone is loaded.

[016] - DrIFT 2.0.2 (Stable)
  by John Meacham (http://freshmeat.net/users/johnmeacham/)
  Saturday, November 8th 2003 22:21

Software Development :: Code Generators

About: DrIFT is a type sensitive preprocessor for Haskell. It extracts
type declarations and directives from modules and applies rules to them
which generate code. It is intended that the user can add new rules as
required. DrIFT automates instance derivation for classes that aren't
supported by the standard compilers. In addition, instances can be
produced in separate modules to that containing the type declaration. This
allows instances to be derived for a type after the original module has
been compiled. Simple utility functions can also be produced from a type.

Changes: Deriving 'update' now works with newer versions of ghc. A bug in
the precedences specified in derived Show and Read instances was fixed.
The generated code no longer produces spurious warnings. Support for
strict fields and infix constructors was added.

  Saturday, November 8th 2003 12:08

Communications :: Email :: Filters
Internet
Text Processing :: Filters

About: DSPAM is a server-side anti-spam agent for Unix email servers. It
masquerades as the email server's local delivery agent and effectively
filters spam using a combination of de-obfuscation techniques, token
chains, and Bayesian analysis. The result is an administratively
maintenance-free, self-learning anti-spam tool. This approach, applied to
a mature corpus of email, has yielded real-world success rates of up to
99.9% accuracy with less than a 0.01% chance of false positives.

Changes: Several enhancements and changes to the core engine have been
made. Minor bugfixes in MySQL and Oracle storage drivers have been made.
More command-line control (as opposed to configure-time control) has been
added.

[020] - ErfurtWiki R1.01b0
  by milky (http://freshmeat.net/users/milky/)
  Saturday, November 8th 2003 07:46

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: ErfurtWiki is a fast, user-friendly, and highly configurable Wiki.
It can store its pages and binary content with MySQL, PEARDB/dbx/ADOdb,
dba/dbm, PhpWiki13, or a flat file database. It allows very easy
integration into existing Web sites, and features case-insensitive
WikiLinks, extensive CSS support, admin tools, and includes documentation.
While the core "library" is fully contained in one script file, a large
collection of extension plugins is also available. It is intended to be
used for frequently refreshing, community, and collaboration Web sites.
However, the simplicity of its image caching/uploading feature makes it
also a good choice as a small "CMS" for private homepages.

Changes: This bugfix release corrects the output problem with inline
images' size attributes. A inline Swedish Chef filter has been added, and
the fragments have been rearranged into subfolders.
