values to be present in totals when using merged groups has been fixed.
Issues with the PostgreSQL driver have been addressed by casting smallints
so that indexes are not ignored. Minor CGI fixes have been made. An
X-DSPAM-Factors field has been added to email messages containing the
tokens and values of the determining factors in a message. Opt-in and
Opt-out options have been added to preferences.

[025] - Mail Avenger 0.2
  by xxx (http://freshmeat.net/users/fmxxx/)
  Fri, Aug 20th 2004 11:11

Communications :: Email

About: Mail Avenger is a highly-configurable, MTA-independent SMTP
server. It allows you to reject spam during mail transactions, before
spooling messages in your local mail queue. You can specify site-wide
default policies for filtering mail, but individual users can also craft
their own policies by creating avenger scripts in their home directories.
It includes many features not supported by other SMTP servers, including
mail-bomb protection, integration with kernel firewalls, TCP SYN
fingerprint and network route recording, SMTP-level analysis of client
implementations, SMTP callbacks to verify sender addresses, per-user mail
scripts that run during SMTP transactions, virtual domain to user mapping
for the purposes of filtering, SPF (sender policy framework), dynamic SPF
query construction in mail filter scripts, support for easily issuing
multiple concurrent, asynchronous DNS and SPF queries from filter
scripts, and the ability to run spam filters such as spamassassin on
message bodies before replying to SMTP DATA commands.

Changes: A new aliascheck utility makes it easy to reject email for
invalid usernames/aliases with both sendmail and qmail. System-wide
avenger scripts now run with auxiliary groups of the avenger user (with
caching, so this can be done without the overhead of initgroups). A
problem with FreeBSD's raw IP code, which byteswaps the ip_len field on
little-endian machines, has been worked around. A compilation problem on
Mac OS X has been fixed.

Communications :: Email :: Mailing List Servers

About: mlmmj (Mailing List Managing Made Joyful) is a mail
server-independent reimplementation of the ezmlm mailing list manager.

Changes: A Web interface has been added. The custom headers are dumped
before any MIME headers. +get-N functionality has been implemented, so
it's possible to send email to foolist+get-101domain.tld to retrieve
message 101 from that list. It's deliberately only possible to request one
message at a time. This release makes sure that only either root or the
listdir owner can execute the binaries that have something to do with
lists. It doesn't leave bounces-help messages lying around in the queue/,
and removes an unanchored ".*" from the beginning of the regexp.

features esound provides, polypaudio has an extensible plugin
architecture, support for more than one sink per source, better
low-latency behavior, the ability to be embedded into other software, a
completely asynchronous C API, a simple command line interface for
reconfiguring the daemon while running, flexible and implicit sample type
conversion and resampling, and a "Zero-Copy" architecture.

Changes: This release adds a sample cache, an introspection API, client
API documentation, module autoloading, glib support, a module for
intercepting X11 bell events, and more.

[035] - query-replace-by-example.el 1.1.0
  by Claus Brunzema (http://freshmeat.net/users/cbrunzema/)
  Fri, Aug 20th 2004 13:29

Text Editors :: Emacs

About: query-replace-by-example is an (x)emacs module that tries to save a
few keystrokes when query-replace is needed. It compares text before and
after a change and gives the two versions of the changed region to the
standard query-replace. So you give an example of the needed change and
query-replace-by-example tries to apply that change to the other
occurences of the old version. You don't have to type the complete old and
new version into the minibuffer.

Changes: This release works with GNU emacs, too. The UI is enhanced to be
more standard than the previous weird 'cancel by changing the current
line'.

[036] - randomplay 0.42
  by Adam Kessel (http://freshmeat.net/users/ajkessel/)
  Fri, Aug 20th 2004 13:23

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players :: MP3

About: Randomplay allows you to play your music collection in random
order with a memory of songs played preserved across sessions, so you
don't "lose your place" if you have to shut down. It also has many
features to make command-line music playing more convenient, including
recursive regexp searching for tracks and the ability to specify a
certain number of tracks, bytes, or minutes to play. It can also
generate a list of music files to be loaded onto a portable music player
device.

Changes: This release includes adaptive filtering, so that your favorite
songs are more likely to come up in the random shuffle. Several new
customizable options have been added, including the ability to include any
list of arbitrary file extensions, as well as arbitrary 'players' to use on
those extensions. The documentation has been expanded and improved with
several new examples.

[037] - ROX-Session 0.1.24
  by Thomas Leonard (http://freshmeat.net/users/tal197/)
  Fri, Aug 20th 2004 11:15

Desktop Environment

About: ROX-Session is a simple and easy-to-configure session manager. It
allows you to change window managers without logging out (and copes with
window managers crashing) and provides a graphical configuration box for
your X settings (default font, cursor blinking, mouse behavior, etc.). The
default session starts ROX-Filer managing the background and one panel, but
it can be easily reconfigured for other purposes.

Changes: Options were added for left-handed mouse users, DPMS, and
keyboard repeat rates. D-BUS 0.22 is now supported (0.20 and 0.21 continue
to work). The log display now works better with Xinerama.

Information Management
Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: Smilehouse Workspace is a Java based e-commerce application for
product, order, and customer information management. It can be used for
building and managing product catalogs, online stores, Webshops, and
b-to-b extranets. It currently runs on Tomcat and has two Web-based
interfaces. The first is a themed interface visible to the public, and the
second is a separate administration interface for managing both the
appearance and content of the published service (users and customers,
product information and related files, order information).

Changes: This release fixes problems where the registration and order
form input fields answers were not encoded correctly in client. Products
no longer disappear from the order, if the customer logs out from the
shop. The modify personal data link no longer creates a form without the
customer's data. When trying to change tab from the message template
editor or from the customer email editor, IE no longer reports a
Javascript error.

[044] - Yet Another Autoresponder 0.3
  by night0wl (http://freshmeat.net/users/envy/)
  Fri, Aug 20th 2004 21:02

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents
Internet

About: Yet Another Autoresponder (yaa) is an email autoresponder that is
able to fetch autoresponse data from various sources, using separate
plugins for each source type. It supports daemon mode operation (operates
as an SMTP/LMTP server), so users can set up a single autoresponder server
that is able to serve requests from many email servers. It doesn't reply to
mailing list posts, and has built-in mechanisms to prevent autoresponder
deadlocks.

Changes: 90% of the code was rewritten and classes and objects were
completely reorganized. Some configuration parameters were added and
removed, and the IO::Scalar module was added to support command line
arguments. A Yaa::LookupMap module that implements Postfix style lookup
maps and a Yaa::Daemon module for use as a standalone module were
implemented. Objects now automatically log their activity if the Yaa::Log
object is set. perldoc documentation was added to every Perl module and
many bugs were fixed.
