  by Nicolas Ducoulombier (http://freshmeat.net/users/NDucoulombier/)
  Fri, Sep 17th 2004 06:54

Information Management

About: Amedes is a member file management system based on the Expression
Web application framework. It aims to help with day-to-day tasks and
communication within organizations. Its basic purpose is to manage cards
containing information about members, including each name, address, phone
number, and fees paid. Member information is accessed by each person in
charge according to his own role in the organization, allowing you to
distribute responsibilities among the organization.

Changes: This release depends on the current CVS version of Expression.
Searches can now be saved, loaded, modified, reset, and deleted. They can
also be run from the modification page. There are more French translations
and improved default stylesheets. A welcome page now appears after the new
request form page. A user email address can no longer be shared between
users.

[003] - bibEC Process Card 1.00
  by Fabrizio Parrella (http://freshmeat.net/users/dnfnva/)
  Fri, Sep 17th 2004 06:57

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: bibEC Process Card is a class that processes credit card payments
via one of the multiple supported payment gateways. Currently, these
include Plug and Pay, Autorize.net, and ViaKlix. Changing between payment
gateways is mostly a matter of changing the class constructor parameter.
It provides a payment gateway independent API with functions for logging
the payment activity, setting authentication credentials, submitting
requests, and retrieving the results. Submissions are performed securely
when possible using SSL or Curl.

Changes: This release adds the functions get_authorization() to retrieve
the code that the gateway assign to the order (if any) and get_answer() to
retrieve the complete answer from the gateway as text.

Software Development
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
Text Editors :: Integrated Development Environments (IDE)

About: BlueJ is an interactive Java development environment. It provides a
unique user interface that presents a graphical display of the application
classes and their relationships, and it lets users interactively create
objects of any class. Once objects have been created, users can interact
with them directly. This interaction mechanism allows for much greater
testing and experimentation than in conventional environments. BlueJ is
suited for teaching and learning OO and Java.

Changes: This release adds support for J2SE 5.0, full diagram keyboard
navigation, editor improvements, interface improvements, a new text
evaluation pane, improved jar file creation, and many other improvements
and bugfixes.

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Address Book
Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)

About: Brutus is an Exchange connector and development framework that
offers access to all of MAPI and therefore to all versions of Microsoft
Exchange from version 5.5 onwards. It is a complete wrapping of all of
MAPI into a (large) set of CORBA interfaces. It enables any groupware
client to integrate seamlessly into any organization with large Exchange
deployments on an equal footing with MS Outlook. Being based on CORBA, it
is platform independent, and works equally well on Linux, the BSDs,
Windows, or wherever there is a CORBA implementation available.

Changes: This release adds a few fixes for bugs that made IDL compilers
other than tao-idl unhappy; a few IDL tokens only differed in case and the
RELOP_TYPE was incorrectly typed.

  by pfr (http://freshmeat.net/users/pfr/)
  Fri, Sep 17th 2004 03:38

Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Concepts is a C++ class library for solving elliptic partial
differential equations (PDEs) numerically. The design principle is the
transfer of mathematical objects and grammar used to specify mathematical
and numerical models of physical systems isomorphically into simulation

Security
Security :: Cryptography
System :: Systems Administration

About: Lepton's Crack is a generic password cracker. It is
easily-customizable with a simple plugin system and allows system
administrators to review the quality of the passwords being used on their
systems. It can perform a dictionary-based (wordlist) attack as well as a
brute force (incremental) password scan, including the use of regular
expressions. It supports standard MD4 hash, standard MD5 hash, NT
MD4/Unicode, Lotus Domino HTTP password (R4), and SHA-1 hash formats. LM
(LAN Manager) plus appending and prepending of characters is available in
the Development branch (strongly recommended).

Changes: REGEX enumeration when len is greater than 1 now starts with
len=1 and proceeds up to max_len. Charset and REGEXes can now be saved to
a text file. -stdin allows feeding lcrack from an external password
generator. The mktbl program is now included to generate pre-computed hash
tables (rainbow tables). LM hsa been briefly deactivated until the next
version to rework it.

About: The file renaming utilities (renameutils for short) are a set of
programs designed to make renaming of multiple files faster and less
cumbersome. It currently consists of two programs: "qmv" and "imv". qmv
allows files to be renamed by editing their names in any text editor.
Since the files are listed after each other, this allows common changes to
be made more quickly. imv ("interactive mv") is trivial but useful when you
are too lazy to type (or even complete) the name of the file to rename. It
allows the filename to be edited in the terminal using the GNU readline
library. This is also useful when renaming files in Midnight Commander,
where the whole filename has to be entered again.

Changes: This release compiles with --disable-nls as well.

app, or as a Web app without any change. It includes a mixed deployment
mode, which supports one server to serve Swing clients and Web clients at
the same time. The framework uses XML to define an application's GUI. It
provides a common widget-based, object-oriented programming interface for
Web and Swing GUIs, which prevents the developer from struggling with HTML
and HTTP or with the internals of Swing. For Swing client/server
applications the client/server split as well as the client/server
communication is handled transparently by the framework. The project
includes a GUI builder that is based on the framework's functionality
(screenshot, deployed as a Web/HTML application).

Changes: This release fixed a bug in the GUI builder's event monitoring
tool. More JavaDocs were included and some minor bugs were fixed.

Software Development :: Code Generators

About: XML Encoded Source is a tool that encodes source code in XML form
to allow conversion to other languages, the generation of documentation
such as UML, and to provide an intermediate format for code generators
that allows code to be more quickly compiled on the fly. It also provides
language independence in code distribution and could provide a much
better way to mix scripting code in with XML data.

Changes: This release can converts Java source code to C++ or C# but
still has a lot of bugs.
