[001] - aircrack 2.0.2
  by Christophe Devine (http://freshmeat.net/users/devine10/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 11:08

Security

About: aircrack is an 802.11 WEP cracking program that can recover a
40-bit or 104-bit WEP key once enough encrypted packets have been
gathered. It implements the standard FMS attack along with some
optimizations, thus making the attack much faster compared to other WEP
cracking tools.

Changes: The documentation has been completely rewritten, and various bugs
in airodump have been fixed. A new tool has been added: wzcook recovers and
displays WEP keys from Windows XP's Wireless Zero Configuration utility.

[002] - AnomicHTTPProxy 0.27
  by Michael Christen (http://freshmeat.net/users/Orbiter/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 02:31

Communications :: File Sharing
Information Management
Internet :: Name Service (DNS)

About: The AnomicHTTPProxy is a caching proxy. Pages that pass through the
proxy are indexed and can be searched using a built-in HTTP server. Proxies
connect each other and form a P2P-based index exchange network based on
distributed hash tables. The proxy can therefore be used as a global
search and distributed indexing engine for the Web. It also provides URL
filtering with blacklist sharing among other proxy peers, individual
Web/servlet page hosting, a file sharing zone, and a database engine.

Changes: This release fixes a bug in remote search, enhances search
speed, and has some small display enhancements in the file sharing
interface.

[003] - APSR 0.17-09
  by arbon (http://freshmeat.net/users/arbon/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 02:52

System :: Networking

About: APSR is a network testing tool designed to send and receive
arbitrary network packets. Its main purposes are firewall, security,
routing, and a lot of other tests. It can also be used to analyze your
network. The project is split into three main programs: apsend to create
and send packets, aprecv to dump the network traffic, and the apsrlib
which provides the appropriate low-level functions. A very wide range of
protocols are supported by the aprecv program. The application layer is
implemented through modules using a simple API. Modules can be written in
Perl, Ruby, C, or PCL (a special-purpose packet construction language).

Changes: This version features major cleanups (TCl scripting support and
XML/XSLT stuff removed), minor feature enhancements for apsr-stack, and
the beginnings of pre-module support for apsend.

[004] - Artima SuiteRunner 1.0 Beta 7
  by linux (http://freshmeat.net/users/brainless/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 22:47

Software Development :: Testing

About: Artima SuiteRunner is a testing toolkit for Java that can be used
with JUnit to run existing JUnit test suites, or standalone to create
unit and conformance tests for Java APIs. The advantages it offers to
JUnit users include reporters, run paths, and recipe files.

Changes: The Report class was made Serializable and tests can now be
configured via settings provided in the recipe, on the command line, or
via the Edit Recipe dialog. Two methods were added to the public
interface of Suite: setUpSuite and tearDownSuite. setUpSuite is called
before execute, and tearDownSuite after. Any settings are passed as key
value pairs in a Map in the context parameter of setUpSuite. Many other
interesting features were added.

[005] - bibEC Process Card 1.2
  by Fabrizio Parrella (http://freshmeat.net/users/dnfnva/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 14:57

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: bibEC Process Card is a class that processes credit card payments
via one of the multiple supported payment gateways. Currently, these
include Plug and Pay, Autorize.net, and ViaKlix. Changing between payment
gateways is mostly a matter of changing the class constructor parameter.
It provides a payment gateway independent API with functions for logging
the payment activity, setting authentication credentials, submitting
requests, and retrieving the results. Submissions are performed securely
when possible using SSL or Curl.

Changes: It is now possible pass only one authorization type.

[011] - CRM114 Discriminator 20040924
  by Crah the Merciless (http://freshmeat.net/users/wsymerlcom/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 14:53

Communications :: Email
System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring

About: CRM114 is a Controllable Regex Mutilator and Smart Filter, designed
for easy creation of filters for things like incoming email redirection,
spam filtering, system logs, or monitoring processes. Filtering rules can
be either hard-coded (such as regexes), soft-coded (calculated at runtime
or read from an external file or process), or learned dynamically by
phrase matching (by SBPH hashing or Markovian matching, or Winnowing).
This makes it possible to create very accurate filters with very little
actual work. Accuracies over 99.9% are achievable.

Changes: Several bugs have been fixed in the exit routine code, and there
are fixes for detecting minion creation failures. SYSCALL can now do
forking of the currently executing code. CALL is now implemented and
provides CORBA-like argument transfer. A missing INSERT file in a .crm
program is now a trappable error, and INSERT files can be optional. This
release can use TRE version 0.7.0 (included).

[012] - D-BUS 0.22
  by Sir Logic (http://freshmeat.net/users/danwillett/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 00:52

Software Development :: Libraries

About: D-BUS is a message bus system; a simple way for applications to
talk to one another. It supplies both a system daemon (for events such as
"new hardware device added" or "printer queue changed") and a per-
user-login-session daemon (for general IPC needs among user
applications). Also, the message bus is built on top of a general
one-to-one message passing framework, which can be used by any two apps
to communicate directly (without going through the message bus daemon).

Changes: This release adds --reply-timeout to dbus-send, fixes a memleak,
fixes the Solaris/Forte build, switches to AFL 2.1 rather than 2.0 to
address patent termination clause concerns, mostly repairs the libxml
backend for the config parser, still doesn't pass out of memory tests,
fixes distcheck to include language bindings, adds a
GetConnectionUnixUser method on the bus driver for UnixProcessID as well,
lots of Python, Mono, and other binding fixes, changes to the GLib
bindings to not include dbus/dbus.h (fully encapsulate libdbus), and tons
of other small bugfixes.

[014] - dbvi 0.9.4.1.1
  by Shaun Troedson (http://freshmeat.net/users/eccenihil/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 21:06

Software Development :: Debuggers

About: dbvi is a UNIX terminal-based interface to the gdb debugger. It
tightly integrates a vi session with the usual gdb command line and uses
the arrow keys to provide an intuitive interface to common debugging
commands. It is designed to be used in a restrictive single terminal
environment, but in a windowed environment it has the same advantages over
a graphical interface that vi has over a graphical text editor.

Changes: A minor bugfix was made to allow the debugging of programs
compiled with -gdwarf.

Home Automation
Software Development :: Embedded Systems
System :: Logging

About: DIY Zoning is a set of tools and instructions for controlling a
state-of-the-art HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)
system. It covers airflow balancing, temperature control and zoning,
energy conservation measures, remote access, 1-wire devices, and home
automation.

Changes: This release introduced support for many logical devices on one
physical 1-Wire device in general, and humidity sensor support in
particular. The DAC2CORE protocol was changed, breaking backward
compatibility. To upgrade configurations, a literal 'T' must be added in
front of 1-Wire temperature sensors, and add a literal 'S' in front of
1-Wire switch devices.

Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: POP3
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

About: Domain Technologie Control (DTC) is a Web-based control panel for
hosting that can delegate the task of creating subdomains, email, and FTP
accounts to users for the domain names they own. It has support for many
programs, including bind 8 and 9, MySQL, Apache, PHP 4, qmail, Postfix,
Courier, Dovecot, ProFTPD, Webalizer, and mod-log-sql. It can also
generate backup scripts, calculation scripts, and config files using a
single system UID/GID, and monitor all traffic accounting per user and per
service. It is fully skinnable and translated into several languages.

Changes: This version correct the access.log dump so that it's done in
Combined log format, and so webalizer stats are now ok. It also adds an
option to all domains to tell whether or not a domain uses the
http://dtc.hostingdomain.com/newdomain.net alias (this saves memory and
allows you to resell subdomains of your domain). It also comes with 2 new
skins.

Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: eZ publish is an open source content management system and
development framework. As a content management system (CMS) it's most
notable feature is its revolutionary, fully customizable, and extendable
content model. This is also what makes it suitable as a platform for
general Web development. Its stand-alone libraries can be used for
cross-platform, database independent PHP projects. eZ publish is also well
suited for news publishing, e-commerce (B2B and B2C), portals, and
corporate Web sites, intranets, and extranets. eZ publish is dual licenced
between GPL and the eZ publish professional licence.

Changes: This release fixes a bug causing all viewcache to expire on
publishing, a bug with incorrect fetching of user roles when the user is
in several groups, a MySQL 4.1 incompatibility, and a bug in the cache
block with subtree expiry. A new PHP script bin/php/eztemplatecheck.php
validates the template file. The Autolink operator now allows semicolons
and asterisks in URLs. The subtree expiry has been partly rewritten.

[026] - GNU Anubis 3.9.96 (Development)
  by Wojciech Polak (http://freshmeat.net/users/ghostface/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 02:31

Communications :: Email :: Filters
Internet :: Proxy Servers
Security :: Cryptography

About: GNU Anubis is an outgoing mail processor. It goes between the MUA
(Mail User Agent) and the MTA (Mail Transport Agent), and can dynamically
perform various sorts of processing and conversion on the outgoing mail in
accord with the sender's specified rules, based on a highly configurable
regular expressions system. It operates as a proxy server, independently
from mail user agents.

Changes: In this release a new format of plain text databases allows for
inclusion of empty fields. Test cases for the AUTH mode (a.k.a. Dixie)
were added. The GPGME support has been rewritten to work with GPGME 0.9.0
and newer. The XELO extension has been implemented to speed up the
interaction between the Anubis daemon and anubisusr utility. Checking
user configuration files on remote machine is much faster due to the use
of MD5 sums instead of transferring the entire file contents for
comparison.

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players :: MP3

About: Gronk is a Web-based MP3 jukebox. It generates heavily-hyperlinked
Web pages listing all of your ripped CDs, by extracting information from
CDDB data. These Web pages allow easy selection of songs or albums to
play, and when nothing has been explicitly selected, it selects songs
randomly. Playback is done via either XMMS or mpg123.

Changes: This release adds mouse-overs to the various buttons, a "never
play this song again" button, and various minor tweaks.

[028] - High Level Assembly Language 1.70
  by linux (http://freshmeat.net/users/brainless/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 11:09

Software Development :: Code Generators

About: The High Level Assembly Language (HLA) was designed to allow
advanced assembly language programmers to write more readable and
powerful assembly language code. It makes it possible to write code by
leveraging knowledge of high level languages like C, C++, Pascal, and
Delphi. HLA compiles into 80x86 assembly language, which is assembled by
MASM, TASM, or Gas.

Changes: This represents a much strengthened release, with a lot of code
tightening as well as a high degree of optimization.

[029] - HTML Document Object 2.23 (Stable)
  by James A. Pattie (http://freshmeat.net/users/pcxuser/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 14:52

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: The HTMLObject is a set of Perl modules that provides the ability
to create Dynamic HTML documents (Framesets, DHTML, etc.). You can
generate your code without having to do cookies first, then JavaScript,
then the body. As long as the content is output in the correct order, you
can generate JavaScript or cookies at any point since the output is not
sent to the server until you call the display() method. It attempts to
fully support HTML 4.x and XHTML. Helper methods are provided to do
cookies, URI encoding, etc. There is a Form processing module which will
generate the form, gather the input, and then validate the input,
re-displaying the form if errors are encountered with the invalid entries
marked as such.

Changes: This release adds extra functionality to the overloaded print()
method (you can now output JavascriptIncludes, cookies, links, metaTags,
and CSS). The generate() method of the HTMLObject::Form module now allows
you to pass in Javascript and javascriptIncludes values to be output as
part of the form being generated. You can also now specify -onload and
-onunload code for each form item that will be executed in the
onload/onunload <body> handlers.

About: iconvircproxy is a proxy for IRC users who want to talk in
different character set environments. It is especially suitable for
European users who occasionally talk on Japanese channels. It requires a
fully UTF-8 compatible IRC client, and can talk in ISO-8859-*,
ISO-2022-JP, SHIFT-JIS, and UTF-8 encodings. Encodings can be configured
on a channel-by-channel basis, and heuristics are used to determine the
encoding of each line of traffic.

[031] - JAgents 0.1
  by Simon Fischer (http://freshmeat.net/users/simonfischer/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 06:56

Education
Internet
Scientific/Engineering

About: JAgents (A Game theoretic Evolutionary Network Traffic Simulator)
is a tool for simulating dynamics of selfish users in traffic networks
like the Internet. Classical Game Theory has been extensively used to
analyze the Internet. However, this analysis is limited to static
properties of such models, e.g., equilibria, the price of anarchy, etc.
Methods from Evolutionary Game Theory allow for analysis of dynamical
properties. The behavior of agents is simulated by continuous or discrete
processes, the best-known of which is the so-called replicator dynamics.
JAgents can simulate a variety of these dynamics for arbitrary networks.

[032] - JDBCImporter 0.61
  by Chris Nagy (http://freshmeat.net/users/cnagyxyz/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 02:29

Database :: API
Utilities

About: JDBCImporter provides a consistent mechanism for importing data
from a file to a database, exporting data from a database to a file, and
generating data. It can run from the command line using an XML config
file or from inside an Ant build script. It works with CSV, fixed data,
and XML files and supports numbers, strings, and date/times as database
column types. Custom classes can be used to parse different file
formats, format column values into different file formats, translate
column values before importing or after exporting, or allocate or release
JDBC connections.

Changes: This release includes new attributes for the CSV delimiter
formatter/parser and fixed delimiter formatter/parser. A new delimiter
formatter/parser has been added that uses a pattern to format/parse a
line (the pattern is similar to java.text.MessageFormat patterns).

Communications :: File Sharing
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search
Multimedia

About: libextractor is a library used to extract meta-data from files of
arbitrary type. It is designed to use helper-libraries to perform the
actual extraction, and to be trivially extendable by linking against
external extractors for additional file types. The goal is to provide
developers of file-sharing networks, file managers, and WWW-indexing bots
with a universal library to obtain meta-data about files. libextractor
contains a shell-command "extract" that, similar to the well-known "file"
command, can extract meta-data from a file and print the results to
stdout. Currently, it supports the formats HTML, PDF, PS, OLE2 (doc, xls,
ppt), StarOffice, OpenOffice, MP3 (ID3v1, ID3v2), OGG, WAV, JPEG, GIF,
PNG, TIFF, RPM, ZIP, Real, QT, MPEG, RIFF (AVI), ASF, and ELF. Various
additional MIME types are detected. libextractor can also be used to
compute hash functions (SHA-1, MD5, ripemd160). A Java binding (JNI) is
available.

Changes: This release adds support for StarOffice, ID3v2, and the
RipeMD-160 hash function. It also significantly improves the performance
of the HTML, ZIP, and OpenOffice extractors.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: SiteMesh was built upon the Java Servlet 2.3 API. It is a web-page
layout system and web-application integration system to aid in creating
large sites consisting of many pages for which a consistent look/feel,
navigation, and layout scheme is required. It intercepts requests to any
static or dynamically generated HTML page requested through the
web-server, parses the page, obtains properties, and data from the
content, and generates an appropriate final page with modifications to the
original. It is ideally suited for Java based sites (particularly JSP) but
can be dropped into any existing site that uses a Servlet engine including
static, CGI, PHP, and ColdFusion generated pages.

Changes: The <excludes> tag in decorators.xml now takes into account
ServletPath, PathInfo, and QueryString. There is an overhaul of the main
Servlet Filter to remove unnecessary complexity and more gracefully handle
situations where calls on the ServletResponse, PrintWriter, and
ServletOutputStream occur in an awkward order.

[059] - RadarFDTD 7.0
  by Carsten Aulbert (http://freshmeat.net/users/carstenaulbert/)
  Fri, Sep 24th 2004 14:51

Scientific/Engineering

About: RadarFDTD is a program to simulate electromagnetic waves
propagating through various materials (the author used it mainly for
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) applications, but it is not limited to
this). Using generalized perfectly matched layers (GPML) as an absorbing
boundary condition, huge simulation spaces can be realized (a few 100**3
cells). For smaller applications, these boundaries are not good since they
need a vast amount of memory (128MB++). RadarFDTD is quite easy to use (it
uses commented configuration files), but is quite efficient and fast.

Changes: A bug in ReadConfig.c has been fixed. A Qt GUI that helps a lot
in creating the initial config files has been added.

About: RLIB is a reporting engine that makes it possible to easily create
professional reports in PDF, HTML, text, and CSV from one simple XML
report definition file. It supports direct input from MySQL, PostgreSQL,
ODBC, and programmable pluggable inputs. It is written in C and has PHP
and Python language bindings built in.

Changes: All expressions compile correctly. A few bugs in the pcode
executer have been fixed. Support has been added for a PHP array data
source for custom inputs outside of SQL. Concatenated reports are now
first on the mainloop result set. This way, result sets can be used over
for concatenated reports. Some BSD linking was fixed.
