About: Active Calendar is class that generates calendars (month or year
view) as HTML tables. It supports calendar generation for the years
1971-2037 and can produce static calendars without any links or
calendars with navigation controls and linked days. The layout can be
configured using CSS and JavaScript is not required.
Changes: The class now generates HTML tags classes instead of ids for the
layout configuration (valid HTML). Some code cleanups to reduce the size
of the class have been made.

[014] - Coccinella 0.95.1
by Mats Bengtsson (http://freshmeat.net/users/matben/)
Mon, Oct 11th 2004 04:48
Communications :: Conferencing
Communications :: File Sharing
About: Coccinella is a Jabber client with a whiteboard. The whiteboard is
a shared desktop which supports text, drawings, images, and multimedia in
a number of formats, such as MP3 and video. It runs in two main modes, a
peer-to-peer configuration and a mode compatible with the Jabber Instant
Messaging system. A flexible plugin architecture may be used to support
additional formats. It should run on any machine that runs Tcl/Tk.
Changes: Besides a number of new features and improvements, the most
significant addition of this release is a script runtime environment
which enables much more "intelligence" to items in the whiteboard.
Scripts can be written in IncrTcl, an OO version of Tcl, which inherits a
whiteboard base class to provide access to application APIs. In concrete
terms and as a first example of this is a card game. A second example is
a dice.

[015] - CodeWorker 3.8.2

Mon, Oct 11th 2004 04:51
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Software Development :: Code Generators
About: CodeWorker is a versatile parsing tool and a universal source code
generator. It interprets a scripting language for producing reusable,
tailor-made, evolving, and reliable IT systems with a high level of
automation. The file formats to parse are described in an extended-BNF
syntax. Template-based scripts drive the writing of patterns for
generating code or text. The code generation knows how to preserve
protected areas with hand-typed code and provides code expansion,
source-to-source translation, and program transformation. It provides a
native translation of CodeWorker's scripts in C++.
Changes: In this version, the syntax of the scripting language was
extended on variable declarations. The C++ header "CW4dl.h" for building
dynamic library plugins was enriched. Some bugs were fixed (in functions
saveProject() and composeHTMLLikeString(), and in the precompilation of a
BNF script). The BNF script engine was improved on some little details.

[016] - Conary 0.10.7
by Michael K. Johnson (http://freshmeat.net/users/johnsonm/)
Mon, Oct 11th 2004 12:06
Software Development :: Version Control
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
System :: Installation/Setup
About: Conary is a distributed software management system for Linux
distributions. It replaces traditional package management solutions (such
as RPM and dpkg) with one designed to enable loose collaboration across
the Internet. It enables sets of distributed and loosely connected
repositories to define the components which are installed on a Linux
system. Rather then having a full distribution come from a single vendor,
it allows administrators and developers to branch a distribution, keeping
the pieces which fit their environment while grabbing components from
other repositories across the Internet.
Changes: Occasional transient database errors have been fixed by waiting
for sqlite to be ready. Dependency calculation SQL code has been changed
to use temporary tables. A new macro, called "servicedir", defines the
location for service data in order to systemically parameterize the
difference between (for instance) "/var/www" and "/srv/www".

[017] - cssed 0.3.0
by iago (http://freshmeat.net/users/iagorubio/)
Mon, Oct 11th 2004 12:00
Text Editors :: Integrated Development Environments (IDE)
About: cssed is a CSS stylesheet editor for Web developers. It lets you
write your own (XML based) CSS definition files and then insert CSS
properties and values in the stylesheet, just by clicking in a tree view.
You can also enable autocompletion in a document basis, so the CSS
properties and values are selected from pop menus in the editor to
increase speed. While static CSS values are inserted directly, complex CSS
values are dialog driven. The CSS definition file included in the release
fully supports CSS2.
Changes: This release has much better encoding support and the ability to
use Asian input methods, and some new highlighting schemes for other
languages (HTML, PHP, Apache conf, shell scripts, Python, and others). A
plugable interface has been developed, and the following plugins are
available: a file browser panel, a VTE terminal window, a find in files
panel that lets you find text throught a directory hierachy, and
exuberant-ctags support. A Win32 version is available, and cssed can be
built using the GTK+ 2.4 File Chooser.

System :: Archiving :: Mirroring
About: debian-multimirror is a tool that eases and automates the creation
and maintenance of custom Debian mirrors. It uses parallel programming to
exploit redundancy between mirrors and download from several mirrors at
the same time for best performance and less mirror load. A custom
algorithm is used to select a consistent set of packages, and out of
sync or even broken mirrors can still be used. SHA1 and MD5 package
information is used to assure data integrity. It uses an XML file for
configuration of the local mirror, and writes the correspondent "Package"
files after finishing mirroring.
Changes: This version adds Release file generation. It fixes bugs in
package file generation, and adds a --pretend option.

[027] - Eleven 0.2
by Joe Morrison (http://freshmeat.net/users/jdm/)
Mon, Oct 11th 2004 17:28
Database :: Front-Ends
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Compilers
About: Eleven is a programming language for creating robust, scalable Web
applications. Applications are defined at a much higher level than PHP or
mod_perl, allowing the compiler to take over the job of state management.
All application state is automatically maintained in a relational
database. Eleven-based applications are inherently fault tolerant, have a
high level of data security, and are scalable through replication. The
language syntax is similar to C. The compiler translates source code into
complete mod_perl programs. No special runtime support is required.
Changes: This release introduces a new, easy-to-program mechanism for
creating statesafe navigation bars (without using frames). External Perl
functions can now be called by prefixing the function name with an
underscore. Page layout has been improved, with several options added to
control text positioning and formatting. Images can now be displayed.
Various bugs have been fixed. A new demo is included (acme.11) that shows
off the new features.

About: Perforce is a software configuration management system that is
fast, robust, runs on over 50 platforms, and scales to over 1000 users on
a single repository. It supports atomic submits and works well over wide
area networks, including the Internet.
Changes: This release adds new mid-submit and post-submit triggers to
supplement the existing pre-submit triggers. Three types of "spec" trigger
are executed when users create, read, or modify Perforce "specs" (clients,
branches, labels, etc.). Indirect integration is now the default, and "p4
integrate" may now select a common-ancestor for the merge that is not a
revision of the source- or target-file. Filepaths containing "

added to the repository. Smarter merge logic reduces the number of
conflicts in merges.

About: Star is a very fast, POSIX-compliant tar archiver. It saves many
files together into a single tape or disk archive, and can restore
individual files from the archive. It includes command line interfaces for
the "tar", "Sun-Tar", "cpio", "pax", and "gnutar" command-line syntax. It
includes a FIFO for speed, a pattern matcher, multi-volume support, the
ability to archive sparse files and ACLs, the ability to archive extended

[094] - Vim4J 0.0.8
by Joe Khoobyar (http://freshmeat.net/users/walltndr/)

Software Development
Software Development :: Widget Sets
Text Editors
About: Vim4J is a fork of the Vim code with a GUI implemented in Java
AWT. The main project goal is to provide not only a standalone Java-based
GUI Vim application, but to also provide an Vim component suitable for
embedding into a Java-based IDE.
Changes: Version 0.0.7 didn't work correctly on OS X. This release has
been tested to build and run on it. The most important changes are: a
build fix for OS X (JVM options were mis-configured for OS X), speedups in
the Java code, fixes in the KeyEvent listener, a bug in background color
changing, color allocation, and a workaround for WM closing of vim4j
causing a system hang. There is still an issue with window sizing for Java
1.3. Java 1.4 seems unaffected.
