The purpose of this essay is to explain why I believe Perl 6, the way it
currently seems to progress, is the wrong thing at the wrong time, and why
I predict (with all the expected caveats of predicting something) that it
won't be successful. I will also suggest a better alternative for the
future of Perl which makes more sense at this point.

independent content providers. Requests for dynamic content are routed

submissions. Demo site content is plain text, but AudienceConnect can be
extended to deliver any digital content: sound files, image files, etc.
Installation is very simple; no database technologies are used. The
related modules are completely independent and require only access to
Python 1.5.2 in your cgi-bin.

About: Libcddb is a library that implements the different protocols
(CDDBP, HTTP, SMTP) to access data on a CDDB server (e.g.
http://freedb.org). It tries to be as cross-platform as possible.

Changes: Libcddb now uses the FreeDB protocol version 6. The difference
with version 5 is that the responses from the FreeDB server are in UTF-8
format instead of ISO8859-1. So if the CD you query contains non-US-ASCII
characters, the results will be different in this version of libcddb.
Support for character set conversion has also been added. Several bugs

About: libtiff provides support for the Tag Image File Format (TIFF), a

About: The "Virtual Universe" is a 3D cyberspace which offers more
possibilities than just chat: it is a combination of the Web, chat, and
instant messaging within a realistic, three-dimensional cyberspace. Here
people can meet, interact with each other, and build houses and whole
worlds. The "Virtual Universe" is a virtual reality environment which runs
on top of the Internet.

Changes: Bugs in signal handling were fixed. A possible deadlock problem
for the Linux version was removed.

About: WebCleaner is a filtering HTTP proxy. It can disable animated GIFs,
compress documents on-the-fly (with gzip), add/remove HTTP headers, and
remove unwanted HTML (adverts, Javascript, etc.). It can be customized to
your needs.

Changes: The MIME type recognition has been fixed. Quoting of URLs
containing the ~ tilde character has been fixed. The IP netmask in
configuration entries is now calculated correctly. A new bookmarkable
configuration shortcut can disable or enable all filters with one click. A
fully automatic binary .exe installer for Windows systems is also
distributed.
