[012] - Domain Technologie Control 0.16.0-R0
  by Thomas Goirand (http://freshmeat.net/users/zigo/)

Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: POP3
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

About: Domain Technologie Control (DTC) is a Web-based control panel for
hosting that can delegate the task of creating subdomains, email, and FTP
accounts to users for the domain names they own. It has support for many
programs, including bind 8 and 9, MySQL, Apache, PHP 4, qmail, Postfix,
Courier, Dovecot, ProFTPD, Webalizer, and mod-log-sql. It can also
generate backup scripts, calculation scripts, and config files using a
single system UID/GID, and monitor all traffic accounting per user and per
service. It is fully skinnable and translated into several languages.

Changes: There is now a product manager where you can build your hosting
plans. Once hosting plans build, a new user can register an account on the
client interface and check out the order with PayPal. New users will arrive
for addition in the root panel, which also asks for new domains. Each POP
user has access to a special mini-email panel with an option for a
mailbox. Apache conf generation no longer dies if a domain has no
subdomains, which can happen in some configurations of a domain name. A \n
was missing in Postfix email generation when redirection was used.

[040] - mod_security 1.8.6 (Stable)
  by Ivan Ristic (http://freshmeat.net/users/ivanrristic/)
  Fri, Nov 5th 2004 07:32

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers

About: ModSecurity is an intrusion detection and prevention engine for Web
applications. Operating as an Apache module, its purpose is to increase Web
application security, protecting Web applications from known and unknown
attacks. It is flexible and easy to configure, and monitors HTTP traffic
(including POST payload), enhances logging, performs automatic built-in
checks and, at the same time, allows administrators to create custom rules
for their specific needs.

Changes: This release makes changes to allow mod_security to be used in
detection-only mode and fixes the broken "skip" action, a problem with
file interception when IE is used, and a bug introduced in 1.8.5 that
would cause file approval to be skipped when a file larger than the memory
buffer was uploaded. Request headers are now automatically validated
together with the rest of the request.

[041] - MoreAmp 0.1.4
  by pmisteli (http://freshmeat.net/users/pmisteli/)
  Fri, Nov 5th 2004 11:28

About: MoreAmp is an audio player that loads memory or a vdisk with many
songs so the hard disk can spin down while playing them (saving batteries
and reducing noise). It plays and makes ogg, flac, wav, aif, mp3, and aac
files and plays audio CDs and wma, mp1, mp2, m2a, and m4a files. It has an
easy-to use 31-band equalizer, separation, and a silent center channel.

Changes: Improvements were made in AAC and MP4 playing/writing. A
configure option was added to disable MP4 encoding but keep MP4 decoding.
Useless context help was removed. An MP3 output sampling rate selector was
added. Random file selection was improved; large files now get equal
probability of being loaded. Buffer size can now be changed without
stopping the player. Mac OS and Win32 drag-n-drop now accepts a songlist
or multiple objects. Mac OS 9 Debug projects now build ok. Some bugs were
fixed. The code was cleaned up (ongoing). The docs were updated.

[044] - mysqltcl 2.51
  by Xdobry (http://freshmeat.net/users/arturt/)
  Fri, Nov 5th 2004 11:14

Software Development :: Libraries

About: mysqltcl is the Tcl interface to mysql realtional database. It is
the next version of mysqltcl1.53 (new contributor) with many new futures:
Tcl8.0-Object support, Unicode support, configure support, no connection
limitation, nested queries, handling of binary files (containing null
values), and many extra commands: seek on result block, escaping of
string, last inserted id, introspection of connection and query state, and
query metadata (schema).

Changes: A new command mysqlreceive allows you to tranfer large SQL data
sets without caching. This new command uses the internal C API function

[061] - Sh 0.7.5

  Fri, Nov 5th 2004 16:29

Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Rendering
Scientific/Engineering
Software Development :: Code Generators

About: Sh is a programming language built on top of C++. It can be used to
write shaders that run on top of modern graphics processing units (GPUs),
or write stream programs that run on GPUs or CPUs. It is implemented as a
C++ library, and allows programs to be generated at run-time using a
number of metaprogramming techniques. Variants of programs for different
cases can easily be generated, or programs can be generated entirely at
run-time from some input data. The system is cleanly separated into a
frontend and backend, and is hence portable.

Changes: This release has several new features and many bugfixes. Palettes
have been added ("vertex parameter arrays" in OpenGL terminology), allowing
you to index into an array of uniform parameters from within vertex
programs. Streams work under Windows, and several stream-related issues
have been fixed (including a number of memory leaks). A simple particle
system showing Sh's stream programming capabilities is now included. This
release compiles cleanly with gcc 3.4 and continues to work with gcc 3.3
and MSVC++ 7.1 and 2005.

limits or missing textures) much more gracefully, displaying a useful
dialog on the screen when one occurs. A few new example shaders are also
included, such as a demonstration of the new "palette" feature.

[065] - Software Suspend 2.6.9 2.1.2
  by Nigel Cunningham (http://freshmeat.net/users/ncunningham/)
  Fri, Nov 5th 2004 21:01

System :: Boot
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux
System :: Power (UPS)

About: Software suspend allows you to suspend your machine without needing
APM, BIOS, or ACPI support. It creates an image that is saved in your
active swap partition, swap files, or (soon) across a network. At the next
system boot, the kernel detects the saved image, restores the memory from
it and then it continues to run as if you'd never powered down.

Changes: A switch was made from /proc/software_suspend/activate to
do_resume and do_suspend. Those using initrds will need to update them to
echo to do_resume for early userspace support. Various fixes and
improvements were made, including further work on SMP reliability and a
new test_filter_speed entry for testing throughput.

  Fri, Nov 5th 2004 07:31

Internet
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio :: CD Writing
System :: Networking

About: webCDwriter can be used to make the CD- and DVD-writer(s) connected
to a Linux box available to all users in your network. It consists of the
server CDWserver and the clients webCDcreator and rcdrecord. CDWserver
stores the files transmitted by the clients, reserves the CD-writer and
controls the CD-writer using cdrecord. webCDcreator is a Java applet that
runs within your browser or by Java Web Start, assists you when putting
together a CD, and transmits the files. Finally rcdrecord is a command
line client that tries to offer the functionality of cdrecord over the
network with full multi-user support.

Changes: This release fixes problems with user sessions on the server that
grab the writer devices (e.g., on Fedora Core 2), and prevents users from
writing a single ISO image to a new filesystem. The commercial server
version now automatically makes use of an isolinux directory to create
bootable media.
