[001] - ActiveBPEL 1.0.1
by ActiveBPEL Admin (http://freshmeat.net/users/activebpel/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 13:13
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Other/Nonlisted Topic
Software Development
About: The ActiveBPEL engine is a robust runtime environment capable of
executing process definitions created according to the Business Process
Execution Language for Web Services (BPEL4WS, or just BPEL) 1.1
specifications.
Changes: This release adds support for more databases to the persistence
implementation: DB2, Oracle, and SQLServer in addition to the original
MySQL. Changes in the persistence tables mean you will have to rebuild the
database tables. There are some improvements to the BpelAdmin code, as well
as some general code reorganization. A new method returns engine meta-info
and details. Validation and static analysis code was improved. The install
script now removes old installations before installing (but your BPR files
are safe).

Software Development :: Libraries
About: AdaSockets is a library that lets you use sockets in Ada 95. It
supports unicast and multicast sockets, and uses object oriented
structures to ease sockets manipulation.
Changes: This version no longer requires a C++ compiler to be installed
and working when compiling.

[003] - aewm 1.3.0 (Development)
by Decklin Foster (http://freshmeat.net/users/decklin/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 22:25
Desktop Environment :: Window Managers
About: aewm is a minimalist window manager for X11. It has no nifty
features, but is light on resources and extremely simple in appearance. It
should eventually make a good reference implementation of the ICCCM. A few
separate programs are included to handle running programs, switching
between windows, etc.
Changes: Virtual desktops were impemented, along with relevant portions of
the EWMH spec. Maximized and shaded states were added. Both aewm and
clients were changed to use EWMH struts instead of
GNOME_PANEL_DESKTOP_AREA. A small command-line client to switch virtual
desktops was added.

System :: Software Distribution Tools
System :: Systems Administration
About: Ara is a command-line utility for querying the Debian package
database. It has a query syntax allowing you to search for boolean
combinations of regular expressions. It includes a simple syntax and
line-editing. A graphical interface, xara, is also provided.
Changes: A low memory mode has been added, with automatic selection based
on available memory. Various GUI and CLI improvements and small bugfixes
have been done. Configuration syntax has been completely redone, and a
system-wide configuration file added. GUI state (window sizes and check
box states) is now saved.

Wed, Nov 17th 2004 13:16
About: barvinok is a library for counting the number of points in
parametrized and non-parametrized polytopes based on polylib. For a
parametrized polytope, the number of points is represented by an Ehrhart
polynomial.
Changes: This release improves the computation of Ehrhart series and the
enumeration of non-parametric polytopes, and fixes a number of bugs.

[006] - BLD 0.3.2
by Olivier Beyssac (http://freshmeat.net/users/obeyssac/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 07:24
Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Filters
About: BLD stands for "blacklist daemon" and is intended to serve a
blacklist. The blacklist is built by simply inserting IP addresses or by
using submission rate limits based on a maximum number of submissions of
the same IP address within a minimum time interval. A BLD cluster can be
built by configuring the daemon to notify other similar daemon(s) every
time an IP address is added to the blacklist. BLD was primarily designed
to fight against dictionary-based spam (by making the MTA report to BLD
any host that tries to send email to an unknown user), but can be used by
any program.
Changes: This releases fixes portability issues and provides some code
cleanups.

Information Management :: Issue Tracking
Software Development :: Bug Tracking
About: Bug-A-Boo is a bug reporting and tracking system that runs on any
Web server that supports CGI. It helps you to keep an eye on bugs reported
to you by users of your software products. It can handle any number of
projects, users, and bug classifications, and is really flexible in their
setup. It features fast fulltext search, query storage, themes, and bug
watches. It uses the tdbengine as a database backend.
Changes: A new topic "Statistics" has been added to the navigation
providing some useful information on the relations between users, bugs,
and projects. It regards the user's scope of access so users get
statistics only on their projects and bugs. Users now may select their
preferred system translation themselves if the admin enables it. Some
minor bugs were fixed and additions were made.

[009] - Chris's Lame File Browser 4.0.5.2
by Gabe (http://freshmeat.net/users/Groundhog0339/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 05:53
Desktop Environment :: File Managers
Desktop Environment :: Window Managers :: XFCE
About: Chris's Lame File Browser was designed as an alternative to
Nautilus, Rox, Endeavour, and other multi-desktop file managers. It is not
desktop dependent, which means it has very few requirements. It features a
system browser, drag and drop bookmarks, and audio and image previews as
well as popup windows containing ID3 tag information for MP3s.
Changes: This is a Beta release of a rewrite of the Claw 3 code from
scratch. First of all, multiple panes are no longer used. Instead, the
interface is tab driven (drag and drop between tabs works). Secondly, the
preferences are in a tab in the side bar rather than in a seperate dialog.
Thirdly, the interfaces for changing a file's name or permissions were
combined into an interface for changing the file's properties. Cute icons
were added in the menus. All the functionality of the Claw3 isn't quite
there yet.

Other/Nonlisted Topic
About: CycleAtlas is a cycling diary based on a custom road atlas. It can
be used to store or to plan new rides. Functions includes generation of
planimetry, profiles, and route time tables of rides. A map editor is
included, in order to create a custom road map.
Changes: This release completes some previous missing features, like
rides archive storage and management of ride data (date, distance, time,
etc). It adds a 3D map viewer, some options for customizing the roadmap
layer, such as by using spline lines to display roads. A new layer that
is able to display one or more raster images was added. Road distances
can now be manually corrected; profiles can be displayed with more or
less details, in order to reduce noise. An export profile image function
was added.

[012] - FileBunker 1.0
by Garrick Toubassi (http://freshmeat.net/users/gtoubassi/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 22:45
System :: Archiving :: Backup
About: FileBunker backs up local files to one or more GMail accounts. The
files are encrypted and compressed for security and efficiency, and can be
restored on demand.
Changes: Along with several bug fixes, FileBunker is now smarter about
determining whether a file needs to be backed up. Files will only be
backed up if the contents have been changed (using an MD5 digest) rather
than simply based on the last modified time of the file (as in previous
versions of FileBunker). This same MD5 digest is used to avoid backing up
multiple copies of the same file (no matter what they are named and no
matter which directories they reside).

[029] - Linux Bandwidth Arbitrator 1.4 (NetEqualizer)
by astormchaser (http://freshmeat.net/users/astormchaser/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 07:20
System :: Networking
System :: Systems Administration
About: Linux Bandwidth Arbitrator allows beginning-to-advanced network
administrators to control bandwidth. It is designed to be completely
turn-key in its default configuration. You just plug it into your network
trunk, and it self configures and immediately starts slowing "bandwidth
hogs". It can be configured to target specific applications such as Kazaa,
IMAP, and POP. It is compatible with the 2.4.25 kernel, ebtables, and
brouter (bridging router). It also comes with denial of service
protection.
Changes: This branch introduces a bootable, self-contained CD with support
for bandwidth control combined with QoS and priority. The main value point
of this tool is that you can relieve network congestion for all users
while at the same time creating a priority rule for voice, video, or
individual users. The initial version is released as a free demo CD and
runs on any standard Intel PC with 2 LAN cards. It comes with complete
documentation.

About: The Linux Virtual Server Project is a project to cluster many real
servers together into a highly available, high-performance virtual server.
The LVS load balancer handles connections from clients and passes them on
the the real servers (so-called Layer 4 switching) and can virtualize
almost any TCP or UDP service, like HTTP, HTTPS, NNTP, FTP, DNS, ssh,
POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, etc. It is fully transparent to the client accessing
the virtual service.

[031] - Mail Avenger 0.4.9
by xxx (http://freshmeat.net/users/fmxxx/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 22:39
Communications :: Email
About: Mail Avenger is a highly-configurable, MTA-independent SMTP
server. It allows you to reject spam during mail transactions, before
spooling messages in your local mail queue. You can specify site-wide
default policies for filtering mail, but individual users can also craft
their own policies by creating avenger scripts in their home directories.
It includes many features not supported by other SMTP servers, including
mail-bomb protection, integration with kernel firewalls, TCP SYN
fingerprint and network route recording, SMTP-level analysis of client
implementations, SMTP callbacks to verify sender addresses, per-user mail
scripts that run during SMTP transactions, virtual domain to user mapping
for the purposes of filtering, SPF (sender policy framework), dynamic SPF
query construction in mail filter scripts, support for easily issuing
multiple concurrent, asynchronous DNS and SPF queries from filter
scripts, and the ability to run spam filters such as spamassassin on
message bodies before replying to SMTP DATA commands.
Changes: A problem that sometimes occured in receiving mail from senders
who use Postfix was fixed. (More specifically, Postfix does not accept
NOOP commands with arguments, in violation of RFC 2821. Mail Avenger is
now more tolerant of such servers.) In addition, a new utility, match,
simplifies some address-checking scripts. macutil also has a few new
options, and a number of bugs have been fixed in avenger.local.

Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP
About: OfflineIMAP is a tool to simplify email reading. It allows you to
read the same mailbox from multiple computers and ensures that your
changes will be automatically reflected on all computers. You can use
various mail clients to read a single box or read mail while offline with
full synchronization when you reconnect. You can read IMAP mail with
readers that lack IMAP support (same goes for SSL). OfflineIMAP's
multithreaded synchronization algorithm performs between 10 and 60 times
faster than many mail readers' internal IMAP support, and it can be used
even with mail readers that support IMAP already. There are five available
user interface modules, including scripted execution, an interactive
terminal interface, and GUI interfaces.
Changes: A problem with some mail servers that have trouble handling very
large commands at once was fixed. A bug that was occasionally causing
people to get incorrect data back from an IMAP server was also fixed.

by arraffaele (http://freshmeat.net/users/arraffaele/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 05:57
About: Webmatic is a system for dynamically creating a Web site directly
on-line. The webmatic control panel makes it possible to manage the entire
contents of a Web site without knowing any kind of programming language or
HTML language. With Webmatic you can create and manage a newsletter,
create and manage a FAQ section, create a page with the horoscope, create
and manage a search engine, create a page for user registration,
differentiate the access levels for each user, manage up to 9 advertising
banners easily, create a multi-language Web site with a panel for quickly
changing the language, and change the site's graphical theme, detailed
statistics for your Web site. You can also create your own ecommerce
website with products catalog.
Changes: The directories section was enhanced by adding subdirectories and
item numbers. The banner exchange section was enhanced and debugged. Some
minor bugs were also fixed.

[064] - wMail 0.20
by jobeus (http://freshmeat.net/users/jobeus/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 20:49
Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)
About: wMail is a fork of the popular, attractive, and fast kmMail Webmail
package, which has not seen any new development in many years. IMAP support
is included, as well as HTML rendering of email and great MIME support like
that of kmMail.
Changes: The login system was revamped to do screen-based login instead of
HTTP Auth. Sessions are used to track users instead. Register_Globals
should no longer be needed. The ability to view images inline was added.
Folder cookie setting was taken out. Replying to messages now uses the
"From" address and not "Reply-To" address (annoying for mailing lists).
The weather displays the proper icon even when the moon icon is specified
in XML. Forwarding messages quotes the sender, instead of being blank.
Delivery Status should be displayed properly now. The build is now
scripted.

[066] - XINS 1.1.0-alpha1 (Development)
by Ernst de Haan (http://freshmeat.net/users/znerd/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 06:19
Communications
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Build Tools
About: XINS is a technology used to define, create, and invoke remote
APIs. XINS is specification-oriented. When API specifications are written
(in XML), XINS will transform them to HTML-based documentation and Java
code for both the client-side and the server-side. The communication is
based on HTTP. XINS competes with the complex SOAP technology. Main design
goals include simplicity, scalability, and testability. XINS is not only a
specification technology, but also an application development framework.
It offers transaction logging, unique log documentation, and active code
generation.
Changes: Various bugs were fixed. Logging was improved.
XINSCallResultParser was made faster and is now aware of XML Namespaces.
Property reloading was improved, and the _ReloadProperties meta-function
was added. Support was added for float32 and float64 types. Compatibility
with Java 1.4.0 and 1.4.1 was improved (1.4.2 worked well already). The
xins-client.jar file is now included in the generated WAR file. The
HttpClient library was updated from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2, which should improve
performance.

(via the XML session file) as well as basic effects, including reverb,
compression, and EQ, and flexible real-time cross fades. The audio engine
is separate from the GUI, which allows for intelligent management of
background tasks and the ability to use separate machines for the
interface and for playback.
Changes: This release improves CD burning, and includes a number of minor
enhancements and a large number of bugfixes. Most notably, a fix was made
for CD Burning on Mac OS X 10.3.6.

[068] - XOM 1.0b7
by Elliotte Rusty Harold (http://freshmeat.net/users/elharo/)
Wed, Nov 17th 2004 06:54
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML
Text Processing :: Markup :: XSL/XSLT
About: XOM is an XML object model. It is a tree-based API for processing
XML with Java that simultaneously supports streaming. In many use-cases,
it can process arbitrarily large documents with effectively constant
memory sizes. It strives for correctness, simplicity, and performance, in
that order.
Changes: This release fixes a few bugs and approximately doubles the
performance of a few common operations, including getValue(), toXML(), DOM
and SAX conversion, canonicalization, and XSL transformation. This is the
first release candidate. There are still a few open issues with regard to
error handling in XInclude that require clarification from the XInclude
working group. If they decide that the way that XOM currently behaves is
correct, then XOM 1.0 is essentially complete. If they decide to require
different behavior, a few changes may yet need to be made.
