Delicious Library

As a forgetful type with a huge library of games, books, CDs, and movies,
I've been wanting an easy way to keep track of whom I lend things to, and
to just generally organize my media. Most of the library applications I
have encountered in the past involve a lot of typing information, which
has meant I've never really gone to the trouble to document all of my
media.

[001] - 4Suite 1.0a4 (Development)
by Mike Brown (http://freshmeat.net/users/mjbrown/)
Sat, Nov 20th 2004 02:04
Database
Text Processing :: Markup
About: 4Suite is a Python-based toolkit for XML and RDF application
development. It features a library of integrated tools for XML processing,
implementing open technologies such as DOM, RDF, XSLT, XInclude, XPointer,
XLink, XPath, XUpdate, RELAX NG, and XML/SGML Catalogs. Layered upon this
is an XML and RDF data repository and server, which supports multiple
methods of data access, query, indexing, transformation, rich linking, and
rule processing, and provides the data infrastructure of a full database
system, including transactions, concurrency, access control, and
management tools. It also supports HTTP, RPC, and FTP, plus APIs in Python
and XSLT.
Changes: Python 2.2.1 is now the oldest supported version. Numerous
enhancements were made, including the ability in domlettes to control the
encoding for parsing, the ability to parse from general entities, and a
xpath() convenience method on nodes. In the repository a MySQL driver was
included, the Flat File driver is no longer flat, the API restructured, and
an ftss URI scheme is used throughout. Scoping functions were included for
Versa. The XPath and XSLT extensions were pruned for consistency with
EXSLT. Minor API changes were made. There were also bugfixes and other
improvements.

[002] - Active Calendar 0.9
by giorgos (http://freshmeat.net/users/georgiost/)

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: Active Calendar is a PHP class that generates calendars (month or
year view) as HTML tables (XHTML-Valid). It can produce static calendars
without any links or calendars with navigation controls, a date picker
control, event days with event URLs, and linkable days (optionally URL or
Javascript). The layout can be configured using CSS, and JavaScript is not
required. The supported dates (on systems using a 32-bit signed integer
Unix time_t) are: 1902-2037 (Unix) and 1971-2037 (Windows), when using the
default PHP native date functions, and 100-3000 and later, when using the
ADOdb Date Library.
Changes: This release optionally supports the ADOdb Date Library and can
generate calendars from 100 A.D. to 3000 A.D. and later. The class
supports more complex URLs and the structure of all generated links (day
and navigation) can be modified in a single internal method, mkUrl().

Software Development :: Libraries
About: The Compact Disc Input and Control library encapsulates CD-ROM
reading and control. Applications wishing to be oblivious of the OS- and
device-dependent properties of a CD-ROM can use this library. Some support
for disk image types like BIN/CUE, cdrdao, and NRG is available. Therefore,
applications that use this library also have the ability to read disc
images as though they were CDs. A library for working with ISO-9660
filesystems is included, as are utility programs for displaying CD and
CD-ROM drive information, reading the blocks of a CD, and extracting files
from an ISO-9660 filesytem image.
Changes: Joliet support has been added along with some bugfixes and

Sat, Nov 20th 2004 02:11
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux
About: CDemu (previously Virtual CD Kernel Module for Linux) is a kernel
module for Linux which can simulate a CD drive that contains a CD. It uses
simple cue/bin files as input for the data that should appear on the
virtual disc. It includes a user space program which controls the kernel
module. This is primarily useful for watching an SVCD or mounting the data
track of a bin/cue CD image without burning the data to a real CD.
Changes: This version works with the newest 2.6 kernels, on AMD64 systems,
and possibly on other 64-bit systems.

[013] - Concurrent Hierarchical State Machine 4.1
by Paul J. Lucas (http://freshmeat.net/users/pjl/)
Sat, Nov 20th 2004 20:23
Software Development :: Code Generators
About: CHSM is a language system for specifying concurrent, hierarchical,
finite state machines (a realization of "statecharts") to model and
control reactive systems. It uses its own statechart specification
langauge annotated with either C++ or Java code fragments in the tradition
of yacc grammars with C code fragments. The generated code is fully
object-oriented allowing multiple state machines to exist concurrently.
The run-time library is small, efficient, and thread-safe. It has been
used successfully in production environments such as CERN for controlling
high-energy physics experiment equipment.
Changes: The C++ classes are now documented using Doxygen. On some
platforms, an explicit #include <unistd.h> was needed for getopt().

by Chris Vine (http://freshmeat.net/users/cvine/)
Sat, Nov 20th 2004 07:18
About: Efax-gtk provides a GUI frontend for the efax fax program. It
interfaces with efax directly, replacing the scripts supplied with efax,
and can be used for receiving and sending faxes, and for viewing,
printing, and managing faxes which have been received and sent. It
requires the GTK+ and Gtkmm libraries. Ghostscript (gs) must also be
installed.
Changes: A trash folder is now provided in the fax lists to which faxes
can be moved and then physically deleted from the filesystem. (Once
deleted from the trash folder, faxes are now removed from the filesystem
rather then being moved to an "oldfax" subdirectory.) Multiple faxes can

[065] - S.C.O.U.R.G.E. 0.7
by Gabor Torok (http://freshmeat.net/users/gabortorok/)
Sat, Nov 20th 2004 20:30
Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Multi-User Dungeons (MUD)
Games/Entertainment :: Puzzle Games
About: S.C.O.U.R.G.E. is a Rogue-like game with a modern user interface.
The game allows a group of four characters to search for treasure, kill
enemies, gain levels, etc.
Changes: The main focus of this release is the new optional turn-based
combat system. The code has also been completely redesigned to support a
headless server for multi-user play. Network play uses SDL_Net and only
compiles if you have it installed. Currently (because of the battle
system work) almost no effort has gone into the network code (chat works,
however). Also in this release are UI layouts (numbered buttons on the
main UI), miscellaneous GUI improvements and many bugfixes.

[066] - s11n 0.9.17
by stephan beal (http://freshmeat.net/users/s11n/)
Sat, Nov 20th 2004 07:15
About: s11n ("serialization") is a C++ library for easily serializing a
wide variety of objects, including PODs, arbitrary streamable types, and
user-defined Serializable types. It is completely data-format agnostic and
currently supports 8 data formats, including three XML dialects and one
MySQL-powered back-end. Its author, with atypical hubris, truly believes
s11n to be the most advanced, most flexible, simplest-to-use, and utterly
most powerful serialization framework ever implemented in C++.
Changes: This release fixes a major list deser bug which only showed up
when lists contained lists of [lists of...] reference types, reorganizes
Build-tree to modularize the Serializer code, and adds a -clex option to
s11nconvert, to enable throwing of classloader exceptions.
