A proxy/Webcache is a computer which sits between your LAN and your
Internet connection, usually in the gateway. Its job is to capture and
save every Web page that the client machines in your LAN visit, so that
the next time someone requests a page, the proxy/Webcache already has it
and sends it to the client. This saves bandwidth and usually speeds Web
navigation.

About: The AKFQuiz package lets you easily make your own quiz games or
learning exercises. These can be used either with crtquiz on the text
console or with diaquiz in a GUI environment. A CGI-variant can be
installed on a Web server to offer exercises via the Web. Or you can use
mkquiz, which generates an HTML file for to use with the JavaScript
akfquiz2.js. Those can then be published with any Web-space provider.

Changes: On all platforms, a charset converter (Lat1/IBM850) was added for
crtquiz/diaquiz, and a titlescreen was added to crtquiz. In Windows, minor
installer improvements were made, and icons and version info were added to
the executables. In DOS, LFN support was improved.

About: AutoOpts is an integrated part of AutoGen. Based on a very simple
option description file, it will process configuration files, environment
variables, command line options, text strings passed by client programs,
and will make the results easily accessible to the client program. It will

and environment variables. Placing command line options in a ${PROGNAME}

for easy creation of filters for things like incoming email redirection,
spam filtering, system logs, or monitoring processes. Filtering rules can

About: Entagged is a Java audio file tagger which uses the freedb online
database for the retrieval of the tags. It supports custom file renaming
based on the tags (with any directory stucture), as well as custom tagging
based on the file names. MP3, Ogg, and FLAC are currently supported.

Changes: The Ogg corruption bug with some files that was introduced in
0.15 was fixed. Handling of non-standard COMMENT and TRACK fields in Ogg
files was fixed. WMA file handling was improved in that some parts of the

About: Kandid is a system to evolve graphics. Graphics, in Kandid, are not
drawn by hand. Instead, new forms can be found using genetic algorithms. To
achieve this aim Kandid simulates evolution using sexual reproduction and
mutation. But there is no fitness function inside the program. Only the
user can decide what images are interesting. Populations and genes can be
stored in XML format. Image calculation is based on Lisp-like expressions,
Lindenmayer Systems, Iterated Function Systems, Linear Cellular Automata,
Voroni diagrams, and layered textures or isosurfaces rendered by the
Persistence of Vision raytracer.

Changes: You can now share the chromosomes of your favorite images with
other Kandid users. The chromosomes are stored in a publicly available
database at kandid.org. This Web database can be accessed with Kandid
version 0.3.7. Images can be downlaoded and added to the public database
directly from the program. All published images should be licensed under
Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 license.
