Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Office/Business :: Scheduling
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: Active Calendar is a PHP class that generates calendars (month or
year view) as HTML tables (XHTML-Valid). It can produce static calendars
without any links or calendars with navigation controls, a date picker
control, event days and content with event URLs, and linkable days
(optionally URL or Javascript). The layout can be configured using CSS,
and JavaScript is not required. The supported dates (on systems using a
32-bit signed integer Unix time_t) are: 1902-2037 (Unix) and 1971-2037
(Windows), when using the default PHP native date functions, and 100-3000
and later, when using the ADOdb Date Library.

Changes: A bug that generated a warning when setting an event without a
link on Windows servers was fixed.

About: The ActiveBPEL engine is a robust runtime environment capable of
executing process definitions created according to the Business Process
Execution Language for Web Services (BPEL4WS, or just BPEL) 1.1
specifications.

Changes: Along with some code refactoring and i18n string extraction, this
release adds the ability to deploy files programmatically via a Web
service. There is also a fix for a null pointer exception during
deployment when partner links in the PDD do not match those in the BPEL.
In aeEngineCOnfig.xml, you can now specify a classpath location with any
function context entry. A bug in the duration parser was fixed. The file
engineAdmin.wsdl was updated so that WSDL2JAVA will generate correct
stubs/skeletons.

About: DIRT is a simple directory stack utility that lets the user use the
same directory stack across terminals and sessions. The stack of
directories is stored in a file (.dirtpile) in your home directory. All

with the top of the stack, and jump to the top of the stack. A set of CSH
shell aliases are also included, and required for proper functioning.

Changes: In this release, all support files have been moved into a .dirt
subdirectory, to keep your home directory from getting messy. A "migrate"
feature has also been added to automatically bring old directory stacks
over to the new format and layout.

[028] - lustre 1.4.1-rc1
  by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
  Tue, Feb 15th 2005 22:46

System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Filesystems
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: Lustre is a novel storage and filesystem architecture and
implementation suitable for very large clusters. It is a next-generation
cluster filesystem which can serve clusters with tens of thousands of
nodes, petabytes of storage, move hundreds of GB/sec with state-of-the-art
security and management infrastructure.

Changes: Experimental mmap() locking across clusters was introduced. A
large number of severe bugs have been fixed, including a crash from
reading corrupt objects, an infinite loop involving file locks, a number
of race conditions, the incorrect journalling of symlink accesses, RPC
memory leaks, and a readahead bug that could leave unlocked pages in
cache. There are also a number of workarounds for Linux kernel bugs and
bottlenecks. Mixed Linux 2.4/2.6 clusters and clusters including Elan
servers will now work correctly. Many other minor bugs were resolved.

  by Heinz Knutzen (http://freshmeat.net/users/heinzknutzen/)
  Tue, Feb 15th 2005 22:31

Security
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: The Network Security Policy Compiler (NetSPoC) is a tool for
security management of large computer networks with different security
domains. It generates configuration files for packet filters controlling
the borders of security domains. It provides its own language for
describing security policy and the topology of a network. The security
policy is a set of rules that state which packets are allowed to pass the
network and which are not. NetSPoC is topology aware; a rule for traffic
from A to B is automatically applied to all managed packet filters on the
path from A to B.

Changes: PIX commands like "icmp" and "telnet", which filter traffic for
the device itself, are generated now. There was a syntax error with IOS
routers when applying an access list to an interface. This has been
fixed.

[042] - NoMachine NX 1.4.0 R 107
  by NXAdmin (http://freshmeat.net/users/NXAdmin/)
  Tue, Feb 15th 2005 06:34

Communications
Desktop Environment
Software Development

About: NoMachine NX is a fast terminal server system based on the X11
protocol. In addition, NX also translates and embeds the MS Windows
Terminal Server and VNC protocols into X/NX. NX is an order of magnitude
faster than VNC or X11 and can run on bandwidth as narrow as 10 kBit/sec.
By embedding RDP and RFB, it enables users to compress and accelerate
remote Windows and VNC sessions. NX lets you work fluently even across
slow links like modems. The NX project provides a suite of libraries and
X11 proxying agents implementing efficient compression and optimized
transport of X11, SMB, IPP, HTTP, and arbitrary protocols like audio over
the Internet.

Changes: This release provides minor security enhancements and bugfixes.
The way the authority file is handled in the X11 code was changed to
always enforce the use of the authorization file set by NX for the
session. This allows X11 sessions run in NX to never fall back to local
host based authentication. The new server is also able to better deal with
old and unpatched versions of the LDAP libraries, like those shipped with
SuSE 9.1 and 9.2. Additionally, the source of the nxcomp component was
modifed to comply with changes that occurred in GCC 3.4.2.

  Tue, Feb 15th 2005 22:48

Security
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: NuFW is a authentication firewall suite: the gateway authorizes a
packet depending on which remote user has sent it. It can also set quality
of service on a per-user basis and log user activities into a SQL database.
Furthermore, the server architecture uses an external authentication source
such as an LDAP directory.

Changes: This release is the first of a new stable branch, which performs
encryption of all flows. The cache system is now considered stable and
tested, and greatly improves performance. A major code cleaning and
testing effort has been performed on the whole project and this has lead
to correction of some major bugs (in particular on AMD64 architecture)
as well as to new features such as multiuser client packet support
(optimisation for multiusers system).

[047] - OpenWFE 1.5.0pre7
  by John Mettraux (http://freshmeat.net/users/jmettraux/)
  Tue, Feb 15th 2005 02:23

Information Management :: Workflow Frameworks

About: OpenWFE is a workflow engine. It is written in Java and is robust,
extensible, and scalable. An access library for Python is available,
making it easy to write custom interfaces or agents (automatic
participants) for a workflow-enabled system.

Changes: This release fixed many bugs and introduced new concepts that
will be stabilized at 1.5.0. Separation of stores and storage in the
worklist was implemented, making it possible for a set of stores to share
a storage. The stores will focus on locking, correlation, and query
strategies, while the storage will only take care of physically storing
the workitems. It is now possible to correlate two or more flows 'meeting'
at a store (participant). The slave workitem attributes are aggregated as
an entry of the master workitem attributes.

radmind goes further than just integrity checking: once a change is
detected, radmind can optionally reverse the change. Each managed machine
may have its own loadset composed of multiple, layered overloads. This
allows, for example, the operating system to be described separately from

Database :: Database Engines/Servers

About: SQLite is a small, fast, embeddable SQL database engine that

rollback, subqueries, compound queries, triggers, and views. A complete
database is stored in a single cross-platform disk file. The native C/C++
API is simple and easy to use. Bindings for other languages are also

Changes: A bug in the VACUUM command that can sometimes cause database
corruption has been fixed. This bug has been present in all prior releases
of SQLite that supported VACUUM, but because it is rarely hit, it was only
recently noticed. It is recommended that all users upgrade. This is also
(by coincidence) the first stable release of the 3.1 branch. The new
capabilities include correlated subqueries, autovacuum, autoincrement,
