[001] - Active port forwarder 0.7
  by jeremian (http://freshmeat.net/users/jeremian/)
  Fri, Jun 10th 2005 09:41

System :: Networking

About: Active port forwarder uses SSL for secure packet tunneling. It is
designed for people without an external IP who want to make some services
available on the Internet. afserver is placed on the machine with a
publicly accessible address, and afclient is placed on the machine behind
a firewall or masquerade. This makes the second machine visible to the
Internet. Running afserver does not require root priviledges, nor does it
use other processes. Zlib is used to compress the transferred data.

Changes: This release adds a completely-rewritten logging system. HTTP
proxy tunneling has been added. A lot of bugfixes have been made. The
remote administration mode has been extended.

[002] - adesklets 0.4.10
  by S.Fourmanoit (http://freshmeat.net/users/syfou2/)
  Fri, Jun 10th 2005 18:24

Desktop Environment :: Tools
Multimedia :: Graphics

About: adesklets is an interactive Imlib2 console for the X Window system.
 It provides to scripted languages a clean and simple way to write great
looking, mildly interactive desktop integrated graphic applets (aka
"desklets"). It can also be used as a command line oriented graphics
editor, a bit similar to ImageMagick, but with different functionality.

Changes: This is a bugfix release. An unwanted partial new feature made
its way into previous release; it caused the contextual menu to stop
working in the advertised way (the control key needed to be pressed for
the menu to be fired). This release reverts the change and adds a
configuration-time option, enable-control-on-context-menu, for those who
really want this behavior.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Code Generators

About: AjaxAC is a PHP framework which can be used to develop, create, and
generate AJAX applications. The fundamental idea behind AJAX (Asynchronous
JavaScript and XML) is to use the XMLHttpRequest object to change a Web
page state using background HTTP sub-requests without reloading the entire
page.

Changes: This release cleans up and streamlines quite a bit of code, and
adds various new functionality, including a timer widget and expansion of
the core JavaScript library. A new example application that is a clone of
Google Suggest has been created using the framework.

System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Astaro Security Linux is an all-in-one network security gateway
that includes a firewall, intrusion protection, virus protection, spam
protection, URL filtering, and a VPN gateway. Features include stateful
packet inspection, deep packet filtering, application-level intrusion
detection, content filtering, virus detection for email traffic (SMTP and
POP3) and Web traffic (HTTP), whitelists and blacklists, IPSec and PPTP
VPN tunneling, spam blocking, logging and reporting. The software is built
on an embedded, especially hardened Linux distribution. The WebAdmin tool

[007] - Atlassian JIRA 3.2
  by Mike Cannon-Brookes (http://freshmeat.net/users/mcannon/)
  Fri, Jun 10th 2005 02:59

Software Development :: Bug Tracking

About: JIRA is a J2EE-based issue tracking, bug tracking, and project
management application. It handles all kinds of issues (including bugs,
features, enhancements, and tasks) and can be used for bug tracking,
development help, project management, or group task cataloging.

Changes: Performance was improved dramatically, particularly with issue
search. Multiple Subversion repositories now supported. Issue pages can be
tabbed to group related fields or to hide infrequently used fields.
Transition pages (e.g. when creating or resolving issues) can now be
individually configured to show certain fields. Bulk editing was improved.
Custom field scoping is more flexible. New portlets were added.

  by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
  Fri, Jun 10th 2005 18:37

About: BLAST is a set of similarity search programs designed to explore
all of the available sequence databases regardless of whether the query is
protein or DNA. It uses a heuristic algorithm which seeks local as opposed
to global alignments, and is therefore able to detect relationships among
sequences which share only isolated regions of similarity. It can be run
locally as a full executable, and can be used to run BLAST searches
against private, local databases, or downloaded copies of the NCBI
databases. It runs on Mac OS, Win32, LINUX, Solaris, IBM AIX, SGI, Compaq
OSF, and HP- UX systems.

Changes: This release adds Gene ASN.1 to XML conversion support, many
bugfixes, and build script fixes.

  Fri, Jun 10th 2005 05:08

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation
Office/Business

About: The Big Faceless PDF Library is a Java class library for creating
PDF documents. The Extended Edition offers the ability to create and edit
AcroForms, PDF's answer to the HTML form. Like HTML forms, PDF forms can
contain text boxes, radio buttons, and can call JavaScript functions. The
Extended Edition also includes a PDF reader for importing and editing,
along with FDF support and verification for Digital Signatures. Both
variations offer full Unicode support, encryption, embedded TrueType and
Type1 fonts, barcodes, hyperlinks, spot and calibrated color. Advanced
text layout engine enables complex HTML styles. It is small, fast, easy to
use, and 100% pure Java.

Changes: Handling of extremely long text was improved: if a single word is
longer than the available space, it will be wrapped. Altering the opacity
of existing annotations now works for all annotation types. The special
case where seekStart is followed by another seekStart is now handled
correctly.

[020] - delsafe 0.0.66
  by psds (http://freshmeat.net/users/psdasilva/)
  Fri, Jun 10th 2005 10:40

About: delsafe is a set of utilities to hopefully allow you to recover
recently deleted files. Basically, when you delete or in certain cases
overwrite a file the original file is moved into a trash can. It does this
by overriding the original unlink, rename, open, and fopen library calls
using the Linux LD_PRELOAD mechanism. Trash cans are placed on top of each
mount point and are accessible by each user directly or through links
placed in the user's home directory. This makes deletion very fast
because, in fact, it is only a renaming. To each filename in the trash can
is appended a time/version stamp.

Changes: delsafe_clean has small bugfixes and an improved algorithm. There
are some small fixes and improvements in the documentation.

computational framework for visual perception and grounded language
acquisition. It can "watch" a series of short videos and acquire a simple
language of nouns and verbs corresponding to the objects and
object-object relations in those videos. Upon acquiring this
protolanguage, it can perform basic scene analysis to generate
descriptions of novel videos. While there have been several systems
capable of learning object or event labels for videos, this is the first
known system to acquire both nouns and verbs using a grounded computer
vision system.

Changes: In this release, the source tree was restructured and various
fixes and improvements were made to the various compilation, execution,
etc. scripts for the project. The SwingSet JAR was updated to the latest
version, which required coding changes to the GUI. The Postgres JDBC JAR
was updated the latest version. The utils JAR was completely eliminated.

[038] - Internet DJ Console 0.2.0
  by Stephen Fairchild (http://freshmeat.net/users/psoriasis/)
  Fri, Jun 10th 2005 18:17

About: Internet DJ console makes it possible for people to connect to a
Shoutcast or Icecast server and be a DJ. It is intended to be something
that the bedroom DJ will want to and enjoy using, and not just be a tool
for streaming music to the Internet. It facilitates live radio shows with
DJ chatter and supports cross-fading for dance mixes.

Changes: This release adds more functionality to the crossfader. This
includes an automated pass button and a speed adjuster for the same. On
the left of the crossfader is a new Stream Monitor button which, when
pressed, allows the DJ to hear the effects of the crossfader, but has
other uses besides that. The CPU usage of the mixer has been reduced,
mostly by the use of compiler optimization flags and the use of lookup
tables for log and antilog math functions.

[045] - Kernel Socks Bouncer 0.0.2
  by Paolo Ardoino (http://freshmeat.net/users/binduck/)
  Fri, Jun 10th 2005 10:33

About: KSB26 (Kernel Socks Bouncer) is Linux Kernel 2.6.x loadable module
that redirects TCP connections (to user-defined target hosts) through
SOCKS 4/5 chains in a completely transparent way. It uses a character
device to pass SOCKS 4/5 and the target IP addresses to the Linux kernel.
This is obviously quite useful if you want to transparently tunnel certain
things through a given proxy to remain anonymous, or if you want to be able
to sniff certain network traffic transparently.

Changes: A feature to redirect only connection to specific target host's
ports has been added. Now the userspace manager is able to detect device
major and to create correct entry in /dev. Some small bugs have been

About: System Configuration Collector (SCC) is yet another configuration
collector. It consists of a client and a server part. The client collects
configuration data in a structured snapshot, compares the new snapshot
with the previous one, and adds differences to a logbook. Then the
snapshot and the logbook are converted to HTML for local inspection.
Optionally, the data can be sent to a system running the server software.
On the server, summaries of the data are generated, and search/compare
operations on the snapshots and logbooks are available via a Web
interface.

Changes: This release adds enhancements for AIX and Solaris 10, several
networking aspects for SuSe, configuration of heartbeat and htdig, and
support for the scc-pull program of scc-srv. The contents of files in the
