[015] - ErfurtWiki HMS R1.02b
  by milky (http://freshmeat.net/users/milky/)
  Fri, Jun 17th 2005 11:08

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: ErfurtWiki is a fast, user-friendly, and highly configurable
hypertext management system. It can store its pages and binary content
with MySQL, PEARDB/dbx/ADOdb, dba/dbm, PHP-RPC, or flat file databases. It
stands out from similar Wiki implementations in that it allows very easy
integration into existing Web sites, features case-insensitive WikiLinks,
extensive CSS support, multiple admin tools, is not GPLed, and includes
documentation. There are over 200 extension plugins, but everything could
still be compacted into one core "library" for easier installation and
handling. It is useful for larger sites as well as lightweight backend for
private homepages, due to its simple image uploading feature.

Changes: This incremental update brings multiple bugfixes and introduces
plugin meta files with a new console setup tool. A second documentation
collection was added. Overhauled and new plugins provide basic WebDAV
support, man page exporting, database multiplexing, diffs in safe_mode,
CAPTCHAs, saner RSS parsing, anacron, PHP5 emulation, TeX, link targets=,
per-page editing messages and help text, error and debug notices in HTTP
headers, rel=nofollow attributes for fresh links, very effective but
unintrusive anti-spam blocking mechanisms, XML User Profiles, and fixed
email address protection.

[016] - ERW 1.0.10
  by Sebastiano Vigna (http://freshmeat.net/users/vigna/)
  Fri, Jun 17th 2005 17:14

Database :: Front-Ends
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: User Interfaces

About: ERW (Entities and Relationships on the Web) is an innovative system
for handling complex databases using a Web browser. It uses the most recent
standards endorsed by the W3C to offer to the user a sophisticated
environment, similar to a dedicated client. Moreover, the user interface
is generated in a completely automatic way starting from a conceptual
description of the database by means of an XML-based description language
for entity-relationship schemata. From the same description, you can also
automatically obtain diagrams and documentation. ERW can be used for
content management, in particular when the data is structured along
complex relations.

Changes: This release preserves the original file names in filesets, and
provides them both as virtual attributes and as names when downloading a
file. This is the last release that will work with PHP 4. The next release
will require PHP 5.

[027] - Heirloom Bourne Shell 050617
  by Gunnar Ritter (http://freshmeat.net/users/gritter/)
  Fri, Jun 17th 2005 03:26

System :: Shells

About: The Heirloom Bourne Shell is a portable variant of the traditional
Unix shell. It is especially suitable for testing the portability of shell
scripts and for processing legacy scripts. The Bourne shell does not
provide as many features as newer Unix shells, but it does provide a
stable shell language. With this in mind, it is also suitable for general
script processing and interactive use. This variant of the Bourne shell
has been derived from OpenSolaris code and thus provides the SVR4/SVID3
level of the shell.

Changes: The "kill -n" and "read" commands were broken in the first
release and have been fixed. Temporary files for here documents are now
always only readable by the invoking user. The "read -r" and "umask -S"
commands have been added, as well as the "TIMEOUT" variable. Various fixes
for specific system environments were also made.

[028] - HTML Document Object 2.27 (Stable)
  by James A. Pattie (http://freshmeat.net/users/pcxuser/)
  Fri, Jun 17th 2005 21:16

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: The HTMLObject is a set of Perl modules that provides the ability
to create Dynamic HTML documents (Framesets, DHTML, etc.). You can
generate your code without having to do cookies first, then JavaScript,
then the body. As long as the content is output in the correct order, you
can generate JavaScript or cookies at any point since the output is not
sent to the server until you call the display() method. It attempts to
fully support HTML 4.x and XHTML. Helper methods are provided to do
cookies, URI encoding, etc. There is a Form processing module which will
generate the form, gather the input, and then validate the input,
re-displaying the form if errors are encountered with the invalid entries
marked as such.

Changes: Many bugfixes and new HTMLObject::Form enhancements. Some new
HTMLObject::Widgets methods were also added. Upgrading to this release is
highly recommended.

[061] - QjackCtl 0.2.17
  by Rui Nuno Capela (http://freshmeat.net/users/rncbc/)
  Fri, Jun 17th 2005 03:20

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio

About: QjackCtl is a simple Qt application to control the JACK sound
server daemon, specifically for the Linux Audio Desktop infrastructure. It
is written in C++ around the Qt3 toolkit for X11, most exclusively using Qt
Designer. It provides a simple GUI dialog for setting several JACK daemon
parameters, which are properly saved between sessions, and a way to
control of the status of the audio server daemon. With time, this
primordial interface has become richer by including an enhanced patchbay
and connection control features.

Changes: Systemic I/O Latency settings are now featured for the ALSA, OSS,
and CoreAudio backends, letting you specify the known latency of external
hardware for client aware compensation purposes. Update on last backstage
changes to the coreaudio backend options.

  Fri, Jun 17th 2005 08:04

Communications :: Email :: Filters

About: SQLgrey is a Postfix greylisting policy service with auto-
whitelisting and an SQL database as storage backend. It is based on
postgrey, refining auto-whitelisting and storing whitelists and
connection attempts in a database. Its goal is reducing the amount of spam
reaching user mailboxes.

Changes: This release is the result of the development done in the 1.5.x
versions. SQLgrey now gives much better performance on large setups
(tested on several millions of connections per day). It has support for
IPv6 and OPTIN/OPTOUT (allowing the mail admin to choose for whom
greylisting is active). The logging controls are more detailed; choosing
the level of details for each log type allows the admin to focus on what
he wants to watch for. A log parser is now provided to build quick

About: fish, the friendly interactive shell is a shell that is focused on
interactive use, discoverability, and user friendliness. The design goal
of fish is to give the user a rich set of powerful features in a way that
is easy to discover, remember, and use. fish features a user-friendly and
powerful tab-completion, including descriptions of every completion,
tab-completion of strings with wildcards, and many completions for
specific commands. It also features an extensive and discoverable help
system. A special help command gives access to all the fish documentation
in your preferred Web browser. Other features include syntax highlighting
with extensive error checking, support for the X clipboard, smart terminal
handling based on terminfo, an easy to search, no duplicates history.

Changes: This version contains a kludge to make fish work on Power CPUs, a
workaround for a bug in Doxygen 1.4.3 that caused the fish documentation to
fail to generate properly, as well as some other minor bugfixes. This
version also adds support for changing to the previous directory using "cd

[076] - The Life of a Geek 1.02stable (Stable)
  by core_dump (http://freshmeat.net/users/core_dump_0/)
  Fri, Jun 17th 2005 17:15

Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing

About: The Life of a Geek is very silly console game in which you (a geek)
must keep a computer running until you graduate college. Surf around on the
Internet, battling hackers to gain money and better security for your box.
Drink lots of caffeine to keep yourself awake, since if you go to sleep,
you risk an attack on your computer. Save up money to take a month-long
college course and improve your education, but remember that paying
attention to schoolwork also leaves your computer open to attack. Find a
quick job for a month at places like fast-food restaurants and grocery
stores, but remember again that time away from your computer leaves it
open to attack. Viruses may also appear on your computer, weakening your
computer's health points regularly until cleaned.

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)
Internet :: Proxy Servers

About: Totd is a small DNS proxy nameserver that supports IPv6-only
hosts/networks that communicate with the IPv4 world using some
translation mechanism, which often uses fake or fabricated addresses that
don't exist in DNS. The program fixes this problem by translating DNS
queries and responses for the faked addresses, constructing fake
addresses based on a configured IPv6 translator prefix and the records
it finds in DNS.

Changes: This release adds support for optional dynamic configuration of
the DNS proxy over HTTP. This allows automatic failover between IPv6/IPv4
translators.
