About: Base64 is a command line tool that implements an RFC 3548-compliant
base 64 encoder and decoder. When encoding it can wrap encoded lines to a
specified column, and when decoding can optionally ignore non-alphabet
characters.

[004] - basE91 0.5.0
  by Joachim Henke (http://freshmeat.net/users/johe/)
  Sat, Jun 25th 2005 14:12

Communications :: Email
Communications :: File Sharing
Internet

About: basE91 is an advanced method for converting binary data to ASCII
text. It is similar to UUencode or base64, but is much more efficient. The
overhead produced by basE91 depends on the input data. It amounts at most
to 23% (compare to 33% with base64) and can range down to 14% which
typically occurs on 0-byte blocks. This makes basE91 very useful for
transferring larger files over binary insecure connections like email or
terminal lines.

Changes: This version breaks backward compatibility because the basE91
alphabet was changed to reduce the occurrence of double quotes when
encoding random data (e.g. compressed files). If the ASCII output needs to
be enclosed in double quotes (e.g. in C or Java programs), this minimizes
the need for escape characters. Before upgrading, users should decode all
their basE91 encoded files.

[005] - bayonne 0.4.0 (Bayonne 2)
  by David Sugar (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidsugar/)
  Sat, Jun 25th 2005 08:48

Communications :: Internet Phone
Communications :: Telephony
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio

About: Bayonne is the telephony server of the GNU project. Bayonne offers
a script driven threaded multiline state event telephony service for
building voice response systems and telephony plugins for runtime driver
configuration. Bayonne also features "TGI" for making perl applications
"telephony aware". Bayonne may be used to build telephony based system
administration, home automation, automated attendent, v-commerce, and
voice messaging systems.

Changes: This release adds much better support for multi-lingual voice and
language rules localization, both by country and language family. The
English language rules default to International Standard rather than
American. Voice language support now includes English, German, Italian,
Spanish, and French. This release supports persistent elements in the
scripting language to preserve runtime configuration data such as mailbox
settings without using a separate database.

[030] - Necessitas 0.3.0
  by Kevin O'Neill (http://freshmeat.net/users/kevinoneill/)
  Sat, Jun 25th 2005 02:26

About: Necessitas is an Eclipse plug-in that adds a class-path container
to manage a projects jars using the ivy dependency manager. It gives you
all of the advantages of ivy without leaving Eclipse. It will download the
jars your project depends on and add them to your projects classpath. You
can optionally have it automatically update your classpath whenever a
change is made to the ivy module.

Changes: The core ivy implementation was updated to 1.1. This version
allows you to specify the configurations to use using a comma seperated
list. If a local ivyconf.xml is detected at the project root, it is used
instead of the default provided by ivy. If update on change is selected,
the classpath will be recalculated if ivyconf.xml is changed. Because ivy
1.1 checks the Internet for property updates when it starts up, this may
lead to slow Eclipse startup times.

Scientific/Engineering
Software Development
Software Development :: User Interfaces

About: This library provides I/O facilities for integer, floating-point,
Roman numbers, and strings. Both input and output subroutines support
string pointers for consequent stream processing. The output can be
aligned in a fixed size field with padding. Numeric input can be checked
against expected values range to be either saturated or to raise an
exception. For floating-point output either relative or absolute output
precision can be specified. UTF-8 encoded strings are supported.

Changes: Handling of quoted strings was added and a bug in Trim that
caused a Constraint_Error with empty strings was fixed.

[041] - sysstat 6.0.1
  by Sébastien Godard (http://freshmeat.net/users/godard/)
  Sat, Jun 25th 2005 05:56

System :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration

About: The sysstat package contains the sar, sadf, iostat and mpstat,
commands for Linux. The sar command collects and reports system activity
information. The sadf command may be used to display data collected by sar
in various formats (XML, database-friendly, etc.). The iostat command
reports CPU statistics and I/O statistics for tty devices and disks. The
mpstat command reports global and per-processor statistics. The
information collected by sar can be saved in a file in a binary format for
future inspection. The statistics reported by sar concern I/O transfer
rates, paging activity, process-related activites, interrupts, network
activity, memory and swap space utilization, CPU utilization, kernel
activities, and TTY statistics, among others. Both UP and SMP machines are
fully supported.

Changes: This release fixes a memory leak in ioconf parsing functions used
by sar and iostat. sar now displays its statistics to STDOUT in addition to
saving them into the file when the option -o has been entered on the
commandline. sar now recalculates the number of system items (network
interfaces, disks, serial lines, etc.) when a file rotation happens. sar
-b works again when used without -d. Small have been made changes so
sysstat can be compiled with gcc 4.0.1.
