[001] - AjaxAC 0.4.1
  by Hendrix (http://freshmeat.net/users/qzervaas/)
  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 08:38

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Code Generators

About: AjaxAC is a PHP framework which can be used to develop, create, and
generate AJAX applications. The fundamental idea behind AJAX (Asynchronous
JavaScript and XML) is to use the XMLHttpRequest object to change a Web
page state using background HTTP sub-requests without reloading the entire
page.

Changes: The ArithmeJax sample application was created. The JavaScript
escape() was replaced with encodeURIComponent(). The hook name generator
was changed to include __ in front of the hookname due to an IE6
compatibility error. The redundant AjaxAC class was removed and this
functionality was moved to the AjaxACApplication class. All examples were
updated to reflect the removal of the main AjaxAC class.

[002] - amavisd-new 2.3.2
  by Mark Martinec (http://freshmeat.net/users/mmartinec/)
  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 08:58

Communications :: Email :: Filters

About: amavisd-new is a high-performance and reliable interface between
MTAs and one or more content checkers, including virus scanners, and/or
the Mail::SpamAssasin Perl module. It talks to the MTA via (E)SMTP or
LMTP, or by using helper programs. No timing gaps exist in the design,
which could cause a mail loss. It is normally positioned at or near a
central mailer, not necessarily where the user's mailboxes and final
delivery takes place.

Changes: Several workarounds have been provided for bogus Perl I/O status
problems which may cause failures on certain combinations of Perl versions
and operating systems. LDAP internals were changed to parallel the SQL
code, improving efficiency and retry attempts. Temporary failures when
$MAXFILES limit is exceeded during MIME decoding are now avoided. A
protocol selection bug in Courier and QMQPqq setups was fixed. The log
file or syslog connection is reopened in each child process. The program
is ready for the coming version 3.1 of SpamAssassin.

[004] - AudienceConnect::E-Zine 0.1.0

  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 18:28

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: AudienceConnect::E-Zine is a revenue-generating Python CGI solution
for independent content providers. Requests for dynamic content are routed
through PayPal. Previews of that content are generated as static HTML for
search engines to harvest. Self-publishers can upload and publish
remotely, or the editorial CGI can be used to view and publish
submissions. AudienceConnect can be extended to deliver any digital
content such as sound and image files. Installation is very simple, as no
database technologies are used.

Changes: E-Zine is a fork of THR33. This version adds a tithing system to
divert a percentage of payments to support the site. The remaining
payments go directly to the author.

[005] - bobot++ 2.1.8 (Unstable)
  by unknown_lamer (http://freshmeat.net/users/unknownlamer/)
  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 18:19

Communications :: Chat :: Internet Relay Chat

About: bobot++ is an IRC bot written in C++. Being the evolution of bobot,
it provides time dependent commands, multichannel, flood control and many
other features.

Changes: Building without the scripting interface works again. The Guile
debugging evaluator is now enabled via '--debug' or the new
'--debug-scripts' option. When the debugging evaluator is enabled, script
errors print full backtraces to the error log. There is now a module
'(bobotpp bot)' that allows Guile modules to access the bot primitives.
The scripting API was made more consistent and flexible, and more
documentation has been written. The maximum nick length of the bot may now
be specified in the configuration file.

  by Christian Kruse (http://freshmeat.net/users/ckruse/)
  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 04:50

Communications
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: The Classic Forum is a classical threaded forum that consists of a
daemon that holds all data in RAM and client programs that query the
daemon or use shared memory to retrieve the data. It's designed to be very
fast and flexible and has a very well designed plugin interface. The user
interface features 72 configuration options and includes very nifty
filtering options.

Changes: This version fixes lots of architectural problems of the 3.3
series and earlier. It introduces "template functions", which make it very
easy to produce much cleaner and nicer markup. The abstraction layer for
XMLHttpRequest is new, and makes it very easy for plugin authors to
provide XMLHttpRequest functionality. The user config system has been
completely rewritten. A new tag has been invented: [elatex]. While [latex]
puts everything into a mathematical environment, you can do nearly anything
in [elatex] because it is only embedded into
\begin{document}...\end{document}.

  by Jammin Wheeler (http://freshmeat.net/users/jammin/)
  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 08:26

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: cssmerge is a command-line utility which extracts selected blocks
of CSS from one or more input stylesheets, and merges them into a single
coherent output stylesheet, with optional comments on where they came
from, and warnings about conflicting styles. Whole blocks can be chosen by
selector or partial blocks which contain a particular property may be
generated. Selectors can be matched completely or by element, class, or
ID. Properties can be matched completely or partially. The output is a
valid CSS file, sorted to make it easy to find what you are looking for.

Changes: The --exact option was fixed.

Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing

About: ErisMUD is a MUD/MOO server/engine written in Python and supports
many features: rooms, NPCs, items, player creation, ANSI colors, a help
system, etc. SQLite is used to store the data, so no files are required
for building (unlike LPMUDs). Short and easy internal commands take care
of the development and maintenance. The only things not implemented are
skills, combat, quests, levelling, etc. These are left to users so as to
make sure every MUD using ErisMUD is different.

Changes: Unused commands have been removed. do_look() has been rewritten.
A logout bug has been fixed. NPC inventory has been added. ANSI is now
optional. Unwanted player names can be filtered. An email request has

  by JKB (http://freshmeat.net/users/jkb/)
  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 10:59

System :: Operating System Kernels

About: FreeVMS is an OpenVMS-like operating system which can run on
several architectures like i386, PPC, Alpha, and many others. It consists
of a POSIX kernel and a DCL command line interpreter. The only
architecture currently supported is i386.

Changes: Bliss 0.012 is available with new ch$ functions, better initial
attribute handling, better conditional macro handling, and new map
support. This release uses IFAB in RMS. It has improved support for
terminal devices in RMS, so now lib$put_output may work. Longword not set
in memory management debug poison code lead to panic. Process_table did
not work due to hash problems and missing initialization. A telnet crash
due to lib$asn_wth_mbx giving $crembx one parameter less has been fixed.
Use of lib$put_output may have bugged the terminal I/O system if used with
telnet.

system/terminal management. The look and feel can be easily adapted to
users' needs.

Changes: The error handler and setup.php have been reworked to be PHP 4.x
compatible. Cases where the ipHostAddress attribute was required but not
checked by GOsa have been fixed. The filter used in the group dialog now
behaves as expected. Several problems that lead to "white screens" have
been fixed. The W3C conformance has been improved. The phone plugin now
recognizes IAX, CAPI, and SIP phones, and the templating engine cache is
cleaned automatically after the revision changes. Password changes trigger

[021] - HTML Forms generation and validation 2005.06.28
  by Manuel Lemos (http://freshmeat.net/users/mlemos/)
  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 00:44

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: HTML Forms generation and validation is a PHP class that generates
HTML forms supporting keyboard navigation, many built-in validation types
on server and client sides, prevents security attacks by discarding
spoofed values, has multiple submit protection, outputs HTML for fields
displayed as fully accessible or in read-only mode, has field value
filtering based on regular expressions, and has automatic capitalization
of field text. It can be extended with custom input control plug-in
classes. Calendar date, CAPTCHA, and linked select plug-in controls are
available. The form output can be defined with templates using HTML with
embedded PHP or the Smarty template engine.

Changes: This release adds support for interconnecting multiple form
inputs in such way that a client side event that occurs in one input may
trigger actions in other connected inputs. Developers may use
interconnected inputs without the need to write Javascript code. A new
custom input plug-in takes advantage of interconnection support to
implement linked select inputs that can dynamically switch the current set
of options when the value of another input changes. An unlimited number to
select inputs can be linked in cascade this way. Several minor bugfixes
and enhancements were also made.

[027] - KchmViewer 0.92
  by Georgy Yunaev (http://freshmeat.net/users/gyunaev/)
  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 18:22

Office/Business
Utilities

About: kchmviewer is a CHM (Winhelp) files viewer written in Qt/ KDE. It
can be build as a stand-alone Qt-based application or a KDE application.
The main point is compatibility with non-English CHM files, including most
international character sets. It has the features set of standard viewer:
search (including non-English CHMs), bookmarking, font size changing,
index/content browsing, codepage support, and more.

Changes: This is mostly a bugfix release. Context and search windows are
not shown if not present in CHM. The last used directory is now saved. The
'View HTML source' bug has been fixed, "Select All/Copy" popup menu bugs
and duplicated WhatsIs icons have been fixed. The AMD-64 build
(experimental) has been fixed. Several keyboard shortcuts for menu
commands have been added: Ctrl+1 opens the contents page, Ctrl+2 opens the
Index page, Ctrl+3 opens the Search page, and Ctrl+4 opens the Bookmarks
page. External links have been added.

Internet
Security
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: knock is a server/client set that implements the idea known as
port-knocking. Port-knocking is a method of accessing a backdoor to your
firewall through a special sequence of port hits. This can be useful for
opening up temporary holes in a restrictive firewall for SSH access or
similar.

Changes: This release adds the ability to change the knocking protocol
(TCP/UDP) on a per-port basis using the knock client, a --lookup option
for DNS lookups, support for one-time knock sequences, an Interface
directive to select the listening interface, and support for excluding TCP
flags with "!". The leftover/deprecated layer-2 MAC logic has been removed.
Some memory leaks and potential security issues have been fixed. Packet
filtering has been moved to kernel space with BPF filters.

  by joeshortsleeve (http://freshmeat.net/users/Joeshortsleeve/)
  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 22:04

Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: Laughing Man is an application that detects if a Web page has
changed. It uses a Web server's last modified date if available, and
generates a hash number based on the contents of the page.

Changes: Error handling was improved with the addition of an unexpected
error flag. The interface uses this new flag to display error entries in
red. An Objective-C/Java bridge weak reference error has been corrected.
Alternative data sources have been deprecated, as the feature was too
tedious to maintain. A force hash check flag was added, which is useful
for pages that support lastmodified but seem to get refreshed without
actually changing.

[038] - network traffic volume capture to postgresql 2.5
  by Rob Fowler (http://freshmeat.net/users/mianos/)
  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 22:33

Database
Internet :: Log Analysis
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: This is a Unix daemon that captures traffic packet size, source,
destination, and times and saves this data into a postgres database in
near real time, from which traffic reports may be made. It does not save
the actual data or headers. Works on ethX or cooked devices like ppp0. It
uses Postgres embedded SQL to insert the data, pcap to capture traffic,
and pthreads to capure and write at the same time. It is written in C++
using STL. Pcap filters can be specified on the command line. Logs go to
syslog.

Changes: The new version now supports a secondary filter specification (-s
"pcap filter spec"). All traffic that matches this filter will be stored in
the database in a binary field associated with the flow item. The code was
changed to use the normal IP headers in the /usr/include/ directory
instead of the dodgy pcap header that was used in the past. A new database
schema is included.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: OpenCms is a professional level open source Web site content
management system. OpenCms helps to create and manage complex Web sites
easily without knowledge of HTML. An integrated WYSIWYG editor with a user
interface similar to well known office applications helps the user create
the contents, while a sophisticated template engine enforces a site-wide

well as on commercial components (e.g. Windows NT, IIS, BEA Weblogic,
Oracle DB).

Changes: “Direct editing” of content from the Web site. An improved HTML
user interface. New content types can easily be defined by an XML schema.
Support for managing multiple Web sites in one installation. Integrated
full text search (also in MS Office and PDF documents). An extensive user
permission system with access control lists. Optional generation of static
HTML pages. Modules for news, jobs, FAQ, and events. A generator for email

[071] - WordPress 1.5.1.3

  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 09:01

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: News/Diary
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: WordPress is a state-of-the-art, semantic, personal publishing
platform with a focus on aesthetics, Web standards, and usability. It was
born out of a desire for an elegant, well-architectured personal
publishing system, and is the official successor to b2/cafelog. While
primarily geared towards functioning as a Weblog, it is also a flexible
CMS capable of managing many types of Web sites. In addition to the basic
Weblog functions, it also has an integrated link manager (e.g. for
blogrolls), XFN support, support for "static" pages, Atom and RSS feeds
for both content and comments, XML-RPC blogging API support (Blogger,
MetaWeblog, and Movable Type APIs), spam blocking features, advanced
cruft-free URL generation, a flexible theme system, and an advanced plugin
API.

Changes: An important security issue which requires an update for users
was discovered. You should update your blog as soon as possible to
1.5.1.3. If you are unable to do the upgrade in the short-term, you may
protect yourself by deleting the xmlrpc.php file from your WordPress
directory.

Changes: The metaQuery tool now includes server uptime in a human-readable
format. Sight of entity deletion is now handled correctly, particularly in
the case in which the deleted entity had children. Support for debugging
the unit tests has been improved by allowing the client and server to be
invoked separately. The attribute storage map of Eris::Entity now has a
const accessor. Resetting a Timeout within its Expired slot now works
correctly. The avatar code no longer emits spurious types in the arguments
of many operations. The view code now handles duplicate appearances
silently.

  Wed, Jun 29th 2005 04:59

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: XML User Profiles is a system that allows for remote and
transferable user accounts. The file format is a lightweight but flexible
vCard transformation that allows better profile sharing and simpler
