about the GNU programs that come with the Debian distribution. Instead,
the book with its 600 pages (including a Debian Sarge DVD) is fully
loaded. Martin F. Krafft, an active Debian developer, goes to great
lengths to describe the interplay of Debian's tools and the project's
philosophy.

Changes: This release adds LOG_HOST_xxx_OUTPUT variables, renames

port forwards), and fixes the FORWARD chain for multiple subnets on the

About: AuctionGallery is a terminal script that creates picture galleries
for the purpose of putting them into auctions like eBay or Yahoo!
Auctions. It can also be used to automatically generate HTML templates for
auction descriptions. It is aimed at power-sellers who have hundreds of
products listed every day and need an efficient way of generating
galleries and organizing pictures in a coherent directory structure.

Changes: A new command-line option -n item name was added. A links
directory containing useful symlinks was added. The delete_originals
option was added. A bug in which files get overwritten and duplicated
during rename was fixed. Error checking of configuration options was
improved. All convert and rename work is done in a temporary directory to
avoid possible conflicts. Permission problems in the install script were
fixed. The user config file permissions were made chmod 600 to hide
passwords. Config file searching when using the -c option was improved.
The sample configuration file was revised.

About: audiokonverter is a small utility to easily convert between OGG,
MP3, AAC, FLAC, and WAV files in Konqueror by right-clicking on them. It
needs oggenc, oggdec, faac, faad, FLAC, and LAME to work. id3lib and
vorbis-tools are optional, but needed for full functionality.

Changes: kwavencoder has been renamed to audiokonverter. Copying of
metadata between OGG, MP3, and FLAC has been added. The application has
been rewritten, and now supports converting several formats to one format
in one go. The service menu has been cleaned, thanks to the rewrite. Usage
of the replay gain tag for FLAC encoding has been added.

About: Cacti is a complete frontend to RRDTool. It stores all of the
necessary information to create graphs and populate them with data in a
MySQL database. The frontend is completely PHP driven. Along with being
able to maintain graphs, data sources, and round robin archives in a
database, Cacti also handles the data gathering. There is SNMP support for
those used to creating traffic graphs with MRTG.

Changes: A number of minor bug fixes have been addressed in this release.
The fixes involve the graph zoom feature, SNMP, and template exporting,
among quite a few additional items. Several new features such as a

have made it into this release as well.

About: delsafe is a set of utilities to hopefully allow you to recover
recently deleted files. Basically, when you delete or in certain cases
overwrite a file the original file is moved into a trash can. It does this
by overriding the original unlink, rename, open, and fopen library calls
using the Linux LD_PRELOAD mechanism. Trash cans are placed on top of each
mount point and are accessible by each user directly or through links
placed in the user's home directory. This makes deletion very fast
because, in fact, it is only a renaming. To each filename in the trash can
is appended a time/version stamp.

Changes: A bug that prevented delsafe_create from creating the trash cans
in some circumstances was fixed. Small enhancements were made in
delsafe_clean.

forward-slash from being sent to the MU* server, due to a conflict with
JamochaMUD's own variable and definition setting features. The user manual
has been updated and is also available in OpenOffice format. JamochaMUD's

correct input from the user. Javadoc for some classes has been updated.

and the reasonable defaults which allow a quick start. The actual burning
is done by the command line utilities cdrecord, cdrdao, and growisofs.

Changes: This release fixes the --cdimage and --dvdimage parameters,
DVD-RW Restricted Overwrite media handling, Index 0 (Pregap) handling in
audio cue files, compilation problems with the latest ffmpeg builds, and
the file browser menu. It always tries to create a new session in case the

and uses RAW writing mode for audio CDs (in case the writer does not
support DAO, but RAW).

About: Monica is a monitor calibration tool using the FLTK library. It
works as frontend to xgamma to alter the gamma correction for XFree86 or
Xorg. The black point, gray, and color blocks help to find usable settings
for a target of 2.2 gamma, the Web, and sRGB standard. FLTK libs are not
needed for the binary.

Changes: This release fixed a possible problem with Slackware graphical
login, which uses an initdefault of 4 in inittab. A separate Slackware
package and a binary without the FLTK dependency are now available.

Changes: The program's own color dialog and a pick-color hotkey have been
added. (The stock GTK dialog is still present.) There is a tutorial now,

About: NatStat is a network monitoring tool designed to help paranoid
users and network administrators that want to monitor their iptables
settings live. It gathers information from iptables, calculates speeds on
the selected (or all available) rules, and shows it in a GUI (ncurses).
The helper application natdump can dump out the speeds on various or all
rules and give it to you in plain text.

Changes: A piece of broken code made the NatStat program crash after a
while. libiptcnt would continue, but the GUI would crash. An error check
is now performed twice when retrieving a value for a rule/chain, as we do
not want to update with the wrong values.

About: ProxyTrack is a simple proxy server that delivers content archived
by HTTrack sessions. It can aggregate multiple download caches, for direct

requests for an efficient integration within other cache servers, such as
Squid. It can also handle transparent HTTP requests to allow cached live
connections inside an offline network.

Changes: ICPv2 (RFC 2186) handling has been added, allowing users to plug

httrack format (prior to 3.31/2004) has also been added. Several fixes,

About: RoadMap is a navigation program for Unix and PocketPC that displays
street maps. Most of the maps are provided by the US Census Bureau, and
thus only the US has a decent coverage at this time. A specific area can
be displayed by entering a street address (street number, street name,
city, and state). It interfaces with a GPS receiver through gpsd or the
serial line to track the car position. It has been designed to be usable
on a Linux desktop or laptop computer, or on a PDA (Linux or PocketPC).

Changes: The look of the street is now much more professional. A Microsoft
PocketPC port was created. It is now possible to take a screenshot of the
map, and one can now "drag" the map using the mouse. Many bugfixes were
made, including fixes for NMEA decoding with some GPS receivers and
disappearing street shapes.

About: PTkSdict is a dictionary using Sdict dictionary format. Unlike
ptkdic or gtkdic, MySQL isn't needed; you can work with dictionary files
directly. It uses Unicode, meaning that words and articles all are in
UTF-8. There are two index levels, compression, and tools to convert from
text files to .dct and vice versa.
