[001] - A Simple Version Control System 0.8.6
by Craig Spurrier (http://freshmeat.net/users/cspurrier/)
Fri, Jan 13th 2006 15:49
Software Development
Software Development :: Version Control
About: A Simple Version Control System is an easy to install and easy to
to use version/revision control system. It differs from most other version
control systems in that it is designed to keep track of files in place. It
does not allow any changes to be made to files; all changes require the
users to change files externally with FTP or SSH access. It is very easy
to set up and use. Users do not need to work with repository, branches,
commit, and check-out files. All a user needs to do is upload the changes
files and click Update, or if enabled, just wait for it to be updated
automatically.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: Message Boards
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: News/Diary
About: Adaptive Website Framework (AWF) is a Web content management
system. Most of its code is object-oriented and very easy to extend. It
features version and link management, basic staging, support for multiple
Web sites and languages, a modular full-text search engine, compatibility
with Mediawiki code, forums, image galleries, XML and PDF export, RSS
support, and validated XHTML templates. Fully flexible URLs allow the
replacement of existing static Web sites.
Changes: This version features an integrated Wiki, LDAP support, a new
module for scientific publications, a new license and category
management, a new "silver" design for the admin backend, an improved
lexicon incl. glossary feature, an improved image management and
galleries, and many bugfixes.

[003] - AnyEvent 1.02
by Marc A. Lehmann (http://freshmeat.net/users/pcg1/)
Fri, Jan 13th 2006 10:17
Software Development
Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Perl Modules
About: AnyEvent provides an identical interface to multiple event loops.
This allows module authors to utilize an event loop without forcing module
users to use the same event loop (as only a single event loop can coexist
peacefully at any one time). The interface itself is vaguely similar but
not identical to the Event module. On the first call of any method, the
module tries to detect the currently loaded event loop by probing for an
already-loaded event loop, such as Glib or Event. The first one found is
used. If none is found, the module tries to load an event module.
Changes: This release features a large number of small bugfixes and
documentation improvements. It also allows third-party interface
implementations for event models not handled by the module itself.

[009] - Common Configuration Parser 0.2.3
by Eskild Hustvedt (http://freshmeat.net/users/ZeroDogg/)
Fri, Jan 13th 2006 15:32
Software Development
System :: Systems Administration
Text Processing :: Filters
About: Common Configuration Parser (CCP) is a program that reads
configuration files and upgrades them. It takes an oldfile (typically the
configuration file currently in use) and a newfile (typically the default
new configuration file) and optionally a template (a file that describes
how the generated configuration file should look) and merges the files
into one, creating a new configuration file that has the changes made to
the old file in addition to the new options included in the new file. It
is completely independent of the program that created the configuration
file, and can be used for many different purposes such as merging changes
between an old user-edited configuration file and a .rpmnew file generated
by RPM during upgrades.
Changes: A bug that would cause invalidly orphaned options when more than
one "=" occurred on the same line has been fixed. A debugging mode has
been added.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
About: JUCE is an all-encompassing C++ class library for developing
cross-platform applications. It's particularly good for creating
highly-specialised user interfaces and for handling graphics and sound.
The intended users are developers who are building large, complex

[033] - KSmoothDock 3.6.1
by dangvd (http://freshmeat.net/users/dangvd/)
Fri, Jan 13th 2006 15:20
Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE)
About: KSmoothDock is a desktop panel, similar to KDE's kicker, for KDE
3.2. Its most distinctive feature is smooth icon zooming in one of two
modes: normal and parabolic. Its aim is to provide a cool alternative and
complement to kicker. As it is intended for KDE and Linux, its behavior
resembles that of kicker.
Changes: Some display bugs in Parabolic zoom mode have been fixed. The
display bug in KDE 3.5 3.6 beta has been fixed. Auto hide, an option for
zoom speed, and an option to load base icons 64 or 128 have been added.
The menu and configuration files location has been changed to KDE's
default. Gradual zoom: background zooms gradually as well. When wallpaper
changes, KSmoothDock now refreshes accordingly. Some minor bugfixes (e.g.
tooltip cutoff).

[034] - LibCMT 0.0.5
by Duilio Protti (http://freshmeat.net/users/dprotti/)
Fri, Jan 13th 2006 17:14
Software Development :: Libraries
About: LibCMT (Composable Memory Transactions Library) implements a
transactional model of concurrency, where deadlock is not possible and
transactions are composable (small transactions can be glued together to
form larger transactions without extra effort). It is written as a Glib
extension but can be used with any thread library, not just GThread.
Changes: This release fixes the lack of an isolation property. On a
transactional model, every separate transaction must now be isolated from
the others (it must not see partial results of other transactions).
Previous releases did not accomplish this requirement in the presence of
an "orElse" composition in which the first transaction blocked.

PIB designers, and Internet-draft authors. It provides a GUI-based
environment for designing, editing, and compiling MIB and PIB modules
according to the SMIv1, SMIv2, and COPS-PR-SPPI standards. It accelerates
the development process by providing an easy-to-use GUI-based environment
for developing the specifications without the syntax and formatting
concerns of editing the modules by hand. It includes a number of built-in
basic SNMP management tools, XML support, and (with MIB Smithy
Professional) support for custom compiler output formats.
Changes: Bugs were fixed in the Files Tree, Table, and Module Wizards, and
changes to Notification, Notification Group, and Object Group record types

[037] - myfw 1.5
by node3667 (http://freshmeat.net/users/node3667/)
Fri, Jan 13th 2006 15:22
System :: Networking :: Firewalls
About: myfw is firewall based on iptables snipets or modules. A
configuration uses these modules, which contain Perl code, in order to
facilitate the writing of rules. They can also contain raw iptables
commands. Configs can be pre-defined, which is useful if you have multiple
machines that need the same firewall rules. It can also generate ipac-ng
rules according to the iptables chains inserted.
Changes: This release is focused on speed improvements. The -m option has
been added to load a module only, with definitions. Poking holes in the
firewall is the typical use. The -t option has been added to load rules
using iptables-restore, which reduces the loading time by a factor of 4 to
20.

[046] - Port Scan Attack Detector 1.4.5
by Michael Rash (http://freshmeat.net/users/michaelrash/)
Fri, Jan 13th 2006 17:19
System :: Networking :: Firewalls
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
About: The Port Scan Attack Detector (psad) is a collection of three
system daemons that are designed to work with the Linux Netfilter
firewalling code to detect port scans and other suspect traffic. It
features a set of highly configurable danger thresholds (with sensible
defaults), verbose alert messages, email alerting, DShield reporting, and
automatic blocking of offending IP addresses. Psad incorporates many of
the packet signatures included in Snort to detect various kinds of
suspicious scans, and implements the same passive OS fingerprinting
algorithm used by p0f.
Changes: This release fixes zero masks in auto_dl (this allows a network
of "0.0.0.0/0" to be specified) and makes sure the /var/run/psad directory
exists at startup (since this directory is removed by some Linux
distributions at boot time). It makes calls to chain creation and jump
rule functions only for every 100 block calls in auto-IDS mode. It adds
ENABLE_FW_LOGGING_CHECK (so that the Netfilter policy check can be
enabled/disabled easily via psad.conf) and ENABLE_RENEW_BLOCK_EMAILS (to
set whether renew email messages are sent for auto-blocked addresses).

[047] - Portable Linux Processor Affinity 1.0.1
by Jeff Squyres (http://freshmeat.net/users/jsquyres/)
Fri, Jan 13th 2006 15:33
Scientific/Engineering
Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
About: PLPA is an attempt to solve the problem of multiple API's for
processor affinity within Linux. Specifically, the functions
sched_setaffinity() and sched_getaffinity() have numbers and types of
parameters depending on your Linux vendor and/or version of GLibc. This is
quite problematic for applications attempting to use processor affinity in
Linux for compile-time, link-time, and run-time reasons. The PLPA provides
a single processor affinity API that developers can write to in order to
get both consistent behavior and binary compatibility across different
Linux installations (assuming that you have an executable that is
otherwise binary Linux portable).
Changes: This version fixes a minor unit size inconsistency with the
treatment of the cpusetsize parameter.

About: Tellico is a collection manager for KDE. It includes default
collections for books, bibliographies, comic books, videos, music, video
games, coins, stamps, trading cards, and wines, and also allows custom
collections. Unlimited user-defined fields are allowed. Filters are

About: XMMS2 is a redesign of the XMMS music player. It features a
client-server model, allowing multiple (even simultaneous!) user
interfaces, both textual and graphical. All common audio formats are
supported using plugins. On top of this, there is a flexible media library
to organize your music.
Changes: DrBombay is a bugfix release for DrAlban. It does not contain
any new features, but has a number of important bugfixes.
