[004] - astGUIclient 1.1.9
  by eflonet (http://freshmeat.net/users/eflonet/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 08:33

Communications :: Telephony

About: astGUIclient is part of a suite of programs that are designed to
interact with the Asterisk PBX Phone system at a client computer level to
extend the functionality of your phone and system. The main GUI
application, astGUIclient, is a set of PHP Web-based scripts utilizing
Javascript and XMLHTTPRequest functions that work through a browser to
give realtime information and functionality with nothing more than an
Internet browser on the client computer. Another component included with
the astGUIclient package is the VICIDIAL auto-dialer, a list dialer which
can dial one-call-at-a-time or be put in auto-dial mode to act as a
predictive dialer. It can function as an ACD for inbound calls or for
Closer calls coming from VICIDIAL fronters, and allows for remote agents
that may only have a phone.

Changes: This release adds fully-translated Greek admin and agc scripts
(agc images to come), load Balancing of Inbound and Outbound calls across
multiple Asterisk servers in the same setup, a script tab to VICIDIAL to
have a variable-populated agent script, a "favorites" panel in
astguiclient.php that shows the off/on hook, a new Super lead loader with
a field chooser and CVS/XLS-format capability, security elements in the
admin pages, and record deletion functions. It removes all PHP globals
requirements and can now use register_globals=Off in PHP.

[005] - Axiomatic Multi-Platform C 1.3.7
  by napi (http://freshmeat.net/users/napi/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 07:51

Software Development :: Compilers

About: Axiomatic Multi-Platform C (AMPC) is a C compiler suite with an IDE
that generates Java bytecode to produce platform independent applicatons.
It supports a very large subset of ANSI C (1989). It can be used to
develop new applications using C as well as port existing applications
written in C to run on JVM enabled devices. A JNI (JVM Native Interface)
feature is available for calling native C or C++ functions. Also, many
Java methods can be called from AMPC. The asm() directive can be used to
embed Jasmin assembly code within C source code. It is useful for writing
new applications using existing C skill-sets and porting C programs.

Changes: A bug related to "static" variables was fixed. The linker
(COMPILE) prints dots while processing.

[006] - AXIS 1.1.1
  by jepler (http://freshmeat.net/users/jepler/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 10:54

About: AXIS is a modern-looking user interface for EMC systems for the
control of CNC mills and lathes with preview and backplot. It features a
user interface rendered by Tk and OpenGL.

Changes: Better "Z extents" are chosen for the plot area. Before this,
loading certain ngc-files could cause the plot to disappear. The message
shown for an error in an ngc file now says "Near line NNN" rather than "On
line NNN", because emc's rs274ngc interpreter sometimes reports a different
line number than the one where the error actually occurs. The "arrow"
portion of scrollbars can now be used without locking up the X server.
Error messages now match the version of emc that AXIS was compiled for.
The correct version of bwidget will be used by AXIS, even if another
version is also installed.

[017] - Dazuko 2.1.1
  by John Ogness (http://freshmeat.net/users/jogness/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 16:45

Security
System :: Monitoring
System :: Operating System Kernels

About: Dazuko provides a device driver allowing 3rd-party (userland)
applications to execute file access control. It was originally developed
by H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH to allow on-access virus scanning. Other uses
include a file-access monitor/logger or external security implementations.
It operates by intercepting file access calls and passing the file
information to a 3rd-party application. The 3rd-party application then has
the opportunity to tell the device driver to allow or deny the file access.
The 3rd-party application also receives information about the access event,
such as accessed file, type of access, process id, and user id.

Changes: Support has been added for FreeBSD 6. Support has also been added
for the latest Linux 2.6 kernels (including the changed LSM, device, and
suspend API's). Internally, there have been minor changes to increase
robustness and portability.

[026] - GNU Libidn 0.6.1
  by Simon Josefsson (http://freshmeat.net/users/jas4711/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 08:24

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)
Software Development :: Libraries
Text Processing

About: GNU Libidn is an implementation of the Stringprep, Punycode, and
IDNA specifications defined by the IETF Internationalized Domain Names
(IDN) working group. It is used to prepare internationalized strings (such
as domain name labels, usernames, and passwords) in order to increase the
likelihood that string input and string comparison work in ways that make
sense for typical users throughout the world. The library contains a
generic Stringprep implementation that does Unicode 3.2 NFKC
normalization, mapping and prohibition of characters, and bidirectional
character handling. Profiles for iSCSI, Kerberos 5, Nameprep, SASL, and
XMPP are included. Punycode and ASCII Compatible Encoding (ACE) via IDNA
are supported.

Changes: This release makes it possible to cross-compile to mingw32,
changes how the C# code is built, and updates the gnulib files.

Applications can also be built on top of portions of the Data Explorer
system, so that custom, turnkey applications can be easily developed using
DX as the computational and rendering engine.

Changes: Significant enhancements and updates were made to Java Explorer,
which now supports a newcontrol panel layout. A large number of bugfixes
were made, including new socket communication between the UI and server to
remove deadlocks. Better window placement was achieved for multiple
monitors using Xinerama.

[046] - Pinot 0.40
  by Fabrice Colin (http://freshmeat.net/users/colinf/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 08:21

About: Pinot is a metasearch tool built around the GTKmm toolkit, the
Xapian information retrieval library, and the language guessing
functionality of libtextcat. It enables one to query search engines, and
display as well as analyze and locally index the returned results. It can
also be used as a lightweight desktop search tool (local documents and
mbox mail accounts can be imported and indexed). The type of documents is
currently limited to plain text, HTML, PDF, and MS Word.

Changes: Issues with documents and query language were fixed. The encoding
of result pages is now detected. The AskJeeves source was fixed. The amount
of text parsed by summarization and language guessing was limited. The
index is always unlocked properly. A new RTF tokenizer (which requires
unrtf) was added. Importing documents was improved. Charset conversion was
improved. Several UI inconsistencies were fixed. Signals and signal threads
are caught to ensure clean exits. gtkmm v2.6 is required.

About: Python Remote Call Module allows the instantiation and transparent
usage of remote objects. All objects are server-based. On the client side,
dynamically created stub objects make using these remote objects very easy.
Mechanisms for connection handling and automatic server setup allow passing
of local references to the server.

Changes: This release focuses on usability and security. Major changes in
the user interface make it much easier to use PyRCall, whether you want to
set up a server or just use the client side. To enhance security and allow
usage over an insecure network, SSL support has been added. Internal use
of one-time keys now protects those newly created remote references that
were unprotected in earlier releases. Quite a few bugs were fixed.

[055] - SMS Server Tools 2.0.2
  by Stefan Frings (http://freshmeat.net/users/sfrings/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 10:53

Communications

About: The SMS Server Tools (smstools) were made to send and receive SMS
from one or many GSM modems. They include a send/receive daemon and some
sample scripts to build an SMS email gateway and for logging into an SQL
database. The daemon waits for files in an outgoing spool directory and
sends them. It puts all received SMS in an incoming spool directory, and
can call any external program for incoming or outgoing notification. This
software support text messages in 7 and 16 bits (UCS2), as well as 8 bit
binary messages.

Changes: Smsd can now send email files without conversion. It
automatically finds phone numbers in the To: field, even if there is a
Name and/or an email address in the same line. The phone number must be
prefixed with a + in this case. Example: "Stefan +491721234567".

[060] - Titration 1.3.1
  by geess (http://freshmeat.net/users/ssgeejr/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 13:42

About: Titration is a multi-user, multi-project tracking system. It's
simple and is designed to work with other project management and
time-tracking projects. It is designed to show the present work load,
priority, and state of (closed/ongoing/queued/active) projects. This is
not a micro-management package, a project management tool, or
time-tracking software. It is an extension of tools that do these things.

Changes: This release has several new components that are better suited
for an Enterprise style use. The Admin feature has been beefed up, and a
percentage completion has been added. In order to support multiple users
for the same project, the percentage complete is stored by individual and
not by project. There is an Overview feature to allow for the viewing of

[064] - Web Secretary 1.9.0
  by Baruch Even (http://freshmeat.net/users/baruch/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 11:16

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management :: Link Checking
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: Web Secretary is Webpage change notification (monitoring) software.
It goes beyond the normal functions offered by such software by detecting
changes based on content analysis, making sure that it's not just HTML
that changed, but actual content. You can tell it what to ignore in the
page (hit counters and such), and it can mail you the document with the
changes highlighted or load the highlighted page in a browser.

Changes: This release adds support for If-Modified-Since and keep last
modified data to reduce bandwidth usage by not retrieving the file at all
if it hasn't changed. It adds a meta tag to keep the charset as provided
by the HTTP server. This enables the mail reader to later show the file
with the correct encoding. Bug #10980 in Savannah has been fixed. If
url.list is missing, it will no longer hang, but instead report to the
user and exit. Bug #349024 in Debian has been fixed. There are some other
small fixes.

[069] - xfpt 0.00
  by Philip Hazel (http://freshmeat.net/users/ph10/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 13:39

About: xfpt is a program that reads a file of plain text that contains
relatively simple markup, and outputs an XML file. It is intended to
simplify the management of XML data. It is not a program that attempts to
turn a plain text document into XML. Markup within text is introduced by
ampersand characters, but is otherwise "soft". You can define what follows
the ampersand, for example, &" to generate a "quote" element. There is also
a macro facility that allows for higher level concepts such as chapters,
displays, tables, etc.

[070] - ZoneMinder 1.22.0
  by Philip Coombes (http://freshmeat.net/users/pcoombes/)
  Fri, Jan 20th 2006 07:50

Multimedia :: Video
Multimedia :: Video :: Capture
Multimedia :: Video :: Display

About: ZoneMinder is a suite of applications intended for use in video
camera security applications, including theft prevention and child or
family member monitoring. It supports capture, analysis, recording, and
monitoring of video data coming from one or more video or network cameras
attached to a Linux system. It also features a user-friendly Web interface
which allows viewing, archival, review, and deletion of images and movies
captured by the cameras. The image analysis system is highly configurable,
permitting retention of specific events, while eliminating false positives.
ZoneMinder supports both directly connected and network cameras and is
built around the definition of a set of individual 'zones' of varying
sensitivity and functionality for each camera. This allows the elimination
of regions which should be ignored or the definition of areas which will
alarm if various thresholds are exceeded in conjunction with other zones.
All management, control, and other functions are supported through the Web
interface.

Changes: Major feature enhancements and architectural changes as well as a
large number of minor enhancements and bugfixes were made. Feature
enhancements include the facility for zones to be any shape, the addition
of presets for monitor and zone configuration, and detection of signal
loss on local cameras. Architectural changes feature the abstraction of a
script functionality into Perl modules, allowing more efficient
integration of ZoneMinder functionality into other scripts, as well a
simplified configuration process and enhanced logging.
