Software Development :: Documentation
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Refactoring

About: DEPS (formerly known as graph-includes) is a set of tools and
libraries which allows users to extract dependency information from
arbitrary material (e.g. program source files), apply various
transformations to this graph, and draw it. It is typically used as helper
tool for a refactoring effort, to create a graph of dependencies between
groups of source files. Readability and usability of the dependency graphs
are currently improved by customizable grouping of several source files
into a single node, coloring of nodes belonging to given groups, and
transitive reduction of the graph.

Changes: The default project class is not confused any more by leading
"./" in paths. Dependencies are now correctly found again on Windows. A
new node style to show statistics about group members was added. The
documentation was updated.

  Tue, Feb 7th 2006 00:59

Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Operating System

About: OSSP uuid is an API for ISO C, ISO C++, Perl and PHP and a
corresponding CLI for the generation of DCE 1.1, ISO/IEC 11578:1996, and
RFC4122 compliant Universally Unique Identifiers (UUIDs). It supports DCE
1.1 variant UUIDs of version 1 (time and node based), version 3 (name
based, MD5), version 4 (random number based), and version 5 (name based,
SHA-1). UUIDs are 128-bit numbers that are intended to have a high
likelihood of uniqueness over space and time and are computationally
difficult to guess. They are globally unique identifiers that can be
locally generated without contacting a global registration authority.

Changes: An upgrade was made to GNU shtool 2.0.5 and a workaround was
applied to "uuid.h" to avoid conflicts with vendor UUID implementations
where "uuid_t" (Darwin/Mac OS X) or "uuid_create" or "uuid_compare"
(POSIX) might exist.

different organizations to participate in a global troubleshooting
community and share knowledge about common events and problems while
preserving data privacy.

Changes: Both Splunk Professional and the free Splunk Server can be
installed in any directory without the need for an /opt/splunk directory

Several other minor bugfixes were made, including a heisenbug that was
causing miscellaneous segfaults.

integrated development environment. Rapid development is achieved by smart
and aggressive use of C++ rather than through fancy code generators. In
this respect, U++ competes with popular scripting languages while
preserving C/C++ runtime characteristics. Its integrated development
environment, TheIDE, introduces modular conception to C++ programming, and
can be used to develop non-U++ applications.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Software Development :: Testing

About: Web Performance Trainer is a load testing and stress testing tool
for Web servers. Its statistical analysis takes your site's performance
criteria, and determines the number of users your Web site can handle.
Because data is collected at the URL level, it not only identifies slow
Web pages, but identifies the particular part of the Web page that caused
the problem. Web Performance Trainer includes hard-to-find features such
as IP spoofing, client certificates, multiple simultaneous test cases,
authentication, SSL recording and playback, automated analysis, and more.

Changes: The support text has been updated to point to the Web
Performance, Inc. support Web site, instead of email addresses. Recording
has been changed to more accurately simulate an accurate recording by
propagating some types of transmission errors to the user's browser,
instead of displaying a friendly error message.

[079] - X File Explorer 0.88 (Stable)
  by Roland Baudin (http://freshmeat.net/users/baudinr/)
  Tue, Feb 7th 2006 05:04

Desktop Environment :: File Managers

About: X File Explorer (Xfe) is a filemanager for X. It is based on the
popular, but discontinued, X Win Commander. Xfe is desktop independent and
is written with the C++ Fox Toolkit. It looks similar to Windows Commander
or MS-Explorer, and is very fast and simple. It features file
associations, the ability to mount/umount devices, a directory tree for
quickly changing directories, the ability to change file attributes,
automatic registry saving, the ability to view/create/extract compressed
archives, and much more.

Changes: Several annoying crash bugs and many minor bugs were fixed. The
"One panel" and "Tree and two panels" modes were reintroduced as requested
by many users. As usual it is recommended (but not required) that you

[080] - xsd 1.9.0
  by Boris Kolpackov (http://freshmeat.net/users/bosk/)
  Tue, Feb 7th 2006 05:06

Software Development
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers

About: xsd is a W3C XML Schema to C++ translator. Provided with an XML
instance description (XML Schema), it generates C++ classes that represent
the given vocabulary as well as parsing and serialization code. Compared to
APIs such as DOM and SAX, the generated code allows you to access the
information in XML instance documents using your domain vocabulary instead
of generic elements, attributes, and text. Static typing helps catch errors
at compile-time rather than at run-time. It features C++ standard
library-based language mappings, configurable base character type
(char/wchar_t), platform-independent generated code, comprehensive
documentation, and more.

Changes: New C++/Parser-E mapping for embedded systems was added. Support
for HP-UX on PA-RISC and IA-64 was implemented. Intel C++ 9.0, HP aCC3,
and aCC6 are now supported.

[081] - yet another pak 1.0
  by lacos (http://freshmeat.net/users/lacos/)
  Tue, Feb 7th 2006 23:28

Security :: Cryptography
Utilities

About: Pak transfers multiple, possibly very big, regular files between
possibly different hosts you have shell access to. It transmits segment
IDs instead of file names and uses on-the-fly Blowfish-CBC encryption
while being absolutely restartable with practically no loss of data
already transmitted. Encrypted pak streams can be stored in intermediary
regular files on untrusted hosts. Several stored pak streams, even
truncated ones, can be merged for re-piping without decryption. Integrity
is never checked. File offsets of any magnitude are supported via
recompilation (the default width is 64 bits). Either UNIX 95 or UNIX 98
conformance is required and sufficient.

Changes: The version numbering has been sanitized. The package now
compiles on Cygwin (1.5.19-4). The source has been cleaned up a tiny bit
with respect to reserved identifiers.
