[001] - 4tH compiler 3.5a-pre1 (Development)
  by HanSoft (http://freshmeat.net/users/hansoft/)
  Thu, Mar 2nd 2006 03:42

Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Libraries

About: 4tH is a Forth compiler with a little difference. Instead of the
standard Forth engine it features a conventional compiler. 4tH is a very
small compiler that can create bytecode, C-embeddable bytecode, standalone
executables, but also works fine as a scripting language. It supports over
85% of the ANS Forth CORE wordset and features conditional compilation,
pipes, files, assertions, forward declarations, recursion, include files,
etc. It comes with an RPN calculator, line editor, compiler, decompiler,
C-source generators, and a virtual machine.

Changes: Support for read-only system variables was added. SEEK, TELL,
+CONSTANT, SOURCE-ID, CIN, COUT, and GOTO words were added. Structures
were made GForth-compatible. Setting the file position indicator is now
possible. 4tH sourcecode can now be embedded in MS batch files. Several
sections were added to the manual.

  Thu, Mar 2nd 2006 07:01

Information Management
Multimedia :: Graphics
Office/Business :: Financial :: Point-Of-Sale

About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode
generation process whenever your language needs change. The project
supports most major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E,
ISBN, Code 128 (A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2
of 5, and Codabar.

Changes: The encoders now pass an array containing the widths of the bar
space succession to the renderer, allowing for sub-point horizontal
precision.

  Thu, Mar 2nd 2006 10:40

Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE)
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio :: CD Writing

About: K3b is a CD and DVD burning application for Linux systems optimized
for KDE. It provides a comfortable user interface to perform most CD/DVD
burning tasks, such as creating an audio CD from a set of audio files or
copying a CD. While the experienced user can influence all steps of the
burning process, the beginner may find comfort in the automatic settings
and the reasonable defaults which allow a quick start. The actual burning
is done by the command line utilities cdrecord, cdrdao, and growisofs.

Changes: Honors umask when creating directories for Audio CD ripping. Only
updates the buffer state for DVD burning if it really changes. Fixes a
crash in verification if the CD/DVD does not contain RR extensions. Lowers
the default DVD writing buffer size to 32 MB to avoid "memorylock limit"
problems. Loading of libdvdcss has been fixed.

[029] - libprelude 0.9.6
  by yoann (http://freshmeat.net/users/yoann/)
  Thu, Mar 2nd 2006 03:46

Security
Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Monitoring

About: The Prelude Library (libprelude) is the glue that binds all aspects
of Prelude together. It is a library which enables Prelude components to
communicate with the Prelude Manager. It also makes it easy for third
party software to be made 'Prelude Aware' (able to communicate with
Prelude components). It provide common, useful features used by every
sensor.

Changes: This release added a workaround for a plugin initialization
failure with buggy versions of libltdl. A disconnection problem in client
reading mode was fixed. Option handling was improved and a deadlock on
asynchronous client destruction was fixed. prelude-adduser now binds every
address available by default. Type checking was added to the Perl bindings
and a memory leak was fixed. A crash that occurred after successive
library initialization and deinitialization was fixed. --passwd and
--passwd-file options were introduced into prelude-adduser to specify a
one-shot password on the command line, from a file, or from stdin.
Configuration files containing \r are now handled. Many bugs were fixed.

mail sorting functionality into your mail server application without the
need to reinvent the wheel. As a library, it is not intended for end users
expecting a ready-to-run program.

Changes: Proper return values from sieve2_listextensions. A segfault when
the client returns null pointers from the getenvelope callback has been
fixed. A segfault when parsing zero length addresses has been fixed.
Handling of extension 'require' parameters has been improved.

  by david (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidel/)
  Thu, Mar 2nd 2006 03:35

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Version Control

About: The LibXDiff library implements basic and yet complete
functionalities to create file differences/patches to both binary and text
files. It uses memory files as file abstraction to achieve both performance
and portability. For binary files, it implements (with some modification)
the algorithm described in "File System Support for Delta Compression" by
Joshua P. MacDonald. For text files, it follows directives described in
"An O(ND) Difference Algorithm and Its Variations" by Eugene W. Myers.
Memory files used by the library are basically a collection of buffers
that store the file content.

Changes: Hunk header generation and handling was fixed for text diffs in
corner cases where either the original or the changed version are zero
bytes.

Software Development :: Libraries

About: NeatUpload allows ASP.NET developers to stream uploaded files to
disk and allows users to monitor upload progress. It works under Mono's
XSP/mod_mono as well as Microsoft's ASP.NET implementation and features
two custom controls. InputFile allows the user to select a file to upload
and ProgressBar displays the upload progress either inline or in a popup.
ProgressBar even allows users without JavaScript to see upload progress.

Changes: This release fixes errors that occurred under Mac IE, a bug that
prevented UploadStorageProviders from rejecting uploads, and bugs in the
VS project and solution files. This release also displays an alert if the
user submits the form via a non-trigger control and NeatUpload is unable
to clear the filenames. The text of the alert comes from the
ClearFileNamesAlert resource in Strings.resx. If you are upgrading, you'll
need to copy the bin\Brettle.Web.NeatUpload.dll into your bin folder and
NeatUpload\Progress.aspx, and NeatUpload\Progress.js into your NeatUpload

About: Remote Python Call (RPyC) is a Python library for distributed

asynchronously). Unlike other RPCs, it is transparent, which means you
work with remote objects as you would work with local ones. Moreover, it
is symmetrical, so you can use callbacks, etc.

[049] - Simplebackup 1.7.0 (Stable)
  by Miguel Angelo (http://freshmeat.net/users/miguelangelo/)
  Thu, Mar 2nd 2006 03:41

System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: Simplebackup is a cross-platform backup program. It reads a
configuration file, then it builds a compressed file for each of your
backup directories or files on your backup list, and places the compressed
files into another location. For example, this location can be a network
mapped drive in Windows, an NFS mounted drive in Unix, another hard disk,
an FTP server, one or more email accounts, or a tape device (Unix only).
This will duplicate your information, doing the so called "backup".

Changes: Support for "advanced" tar commands was added along with an
encryption option and the simplecrypt encryption program. The application
was extensively tested on several different operating systems. Many small
improvements were made along with several bugfixes and code cleanups. The
documentation was improved. Previous backup configuration files remain

[051] - Speech and Debate Timekeeper 1.3
  by Jemmy (http://freshmeat.net/users/jemmyc/)
  Thu, Mar 2nd 2006 04:02

About: Speech and Debate Timekeeper is a collection of two multi-platform
timers for all speech and debate events. One is a debate timer with speech
order and time limits preprogrammed for Policy, Lincoln-Douglas,
Parliamentary, Public Forum, and miscellaneous debate formats. It also
tracks prep time for both sides. The other timer is designed for
individual events. All time limits are user adjustable. These timers give
visual and/or vocal time signals at user defined intervals. At the end of
each speech, cross-examination, or preparation, the timer automatically
sets itself to time the next thing that needs timing at the push of a
button.

Changes: This release added NPDA Parliamentary format with 7-8-8-8-4-5
speech time structure. A separate selection for the high school
Parliamentary format uses the 7-7-7-7-5-5 speech time structure. Test
buttons were added to the time signal configuration dialog of Debate
Timekeeper to preview time signals for minutes left and seconds left.
Minute-interval visual time cue popup duration was increased from 15
seconds to 20 seconds. The help screens were updated. Contact info and the
home page URL were changed in the About box.
