[001] - adesklets 0.5.1
  by S.Fourmanoit (http://freshmeat.net/users/syfou2/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 15:07

Desktop Environment :: Tools
Multimedia :: Graphics

About: adesklets is an interactive Imlib2 console for the X Window System.
 It provides to scripted languages a clean and simple way to write great
looking, mildly interactive desktop integrated graphic applets (aka
"desklets"). It can also be used as a command line oriented graphics
editor, a bit similar to ImageMagick, but with different functionality.

Changes: This is a bugfix release. It compiles and runs on OpenBSD 3.8.
Automated FIFO cleanup in case of a broken session was added to the
frontend, as well as support for the newest version of e16. The adesklets
installer script automated UI fallback was also fixed.

[002] - Adobe Source Libraries 1.0.14
  by Foster T. Brereton (http://freshmeat.net/users/fbrereto/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 01:09

Software Development :: Internationalization
Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Localization

About: The Adobe Source Libraries (ASL) are a collection of C++ libraries
building foundation technology to allow the construction of commercial
applications by assembling generic algorithms through declarative
descriptions.

Changes: This release includes the addition of adobe::alert(), a
one-function API to display an alert to the user with a consistent look
and feel. A GIL image detection/import/export factory was added to provide
a generic method of interfacing with external image files on disk.
adobe::image_t was added as a standalone UI core picture/icon/visual
"label" widget. adobe::static_text_t was replaced with a superior
successor, adobe::label_t.

[003] - adqt 1.1.1
  by Alan Hoover (http://freshmeat.net/users/alanhoover/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 00:50

Database :: Front-Ends

About: adqt is a GUI database query tool that lets users specify the data
to display based on a few mouse clicks. Users can drill down through the
data and print a report at any time. It is a query only tool and does not
require the user to know the structure of the data or SQL.

Changes: The most significant change for this release is the addition of
the export function. This allows you to write the data to a file for
import into another program for further processing. It also has internal
changes to get along better with MSVC++ 6.0, for compilation under
Windows. The multi-pass capability was also fixed. Multi-pass queries will
now work for more than one userid.

[004] - AFNIX programming language 1.2.0
  by Amaury C. Darsch (http://freshmeat.net/users/amaury/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 02:58

About: AFNIX is a multi-threaded functional programming language with
dynamic symbol bindings that support the object oriented paradigm. It has
a rich set of features providing runtime compatibility with C++. The
engine runs on both 32- and 64-bit platforms, and it is designed to be
portable across platforms.

Changes: The core engine has been substantially modified to integrate the
support for Unicode characters. The object model now supports the creation
of orphan instances with an instance reparenting execution model. The
Address class in the network module has been updated to reflect the access
to address aliases.

[011] - Conary 1.0.5
  by Michael K. Johnson (http://freshmeat.net/users/johnsonm/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 11:15

Software Development :: Version Control
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
System :: Installation/Setup

About: Conary is a distributed software management system for Linux
distributions. It replaces traditional package management solutions (such
as RPM and dpkg) with one designed to enable loose collaboration across
the Internet. It enables sets of distributed and loosely connected
repositories to define the components which are installed on a Linux
system. Rather than having a full distribution come from a single vendor,
it allows administrators and developers to branch a distribution, keeping
the pieces which fit their environment while grabbing components from
other repositories across the Internet.

Changes: The main focus is performance enhancements, especially for
dependency operations, updating, and erasing.

  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 15:06

Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries

About: Connect Daily, a Web-based calendaring system, allows multiple
users to add and edit calendar events using a Web browser. The calendar
display can be directly integrated into your Web site. It provides
advanced capabilities for managing resources and facilities. The approval
processes allow many users to edit calendars, with the assurance that all
items added are approved. It supports event download to MS Outlook and
Palm OS PDAs. Export to iCal clients like KOrganizer, Evolution, and Apple
iCal is supported. Authentication to LDAP directories is also supported.

Changes: Correctes the HTML doctype so that all browsers display the day
view correctly. Corrects a CSS/HTML misuse that would cause pages to
display incorrectly in Konqueror/Safari. Removes the work-around of
displaying the list view rather than day view to those browsers. The
navigation menu now has explicit links to view calendars by resource or
item type. Editing an instance of a recurring event now clones any
reminders people created for that event, and assigns them to the new
event. Section 508 enhancements have begun with the addition of a
compliant HTML menu structure to replace the JavaScript menu for those
users.

Text Processing :: Filters
Text Processing :: General

About: glark offers grep-like searching of text files, with very powerful,
complex regular expressions (e.g., "/foo\w+/ and /bar[^\d]*baz$/ within 4

[018] - htb-gen 0.8.3-1
  by Luciano Ruete (http://freshmeat.net/users/lucianoruete/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 01:55

System :: Networking

About: htb-gen is an easy, scalable bandwidth management tool. You can set
up/down portions of bandwith for each host or network that goes through
your router/firewall. Priority traffic (Web, email, gaming, FTK, VOIP, and
streaming) is preferred over junk traffic (Kazaa, emule, etc). Dynamic
bandwith borrowing and reassignment is done betwen hosts thanks to htb
boundaries. A Web frontend for config is avaible, so remote management is
possible. It is bash-based, so it can be used in embedded
routers/firewalls (wired/wireless). Two backends are aviable: one that
generates raw tc commands, and one that generates htb-init conf files
(util for integration). The packet clasification is done by iptables.

Changes: A code mistake that preventd upload rates from working at all
wass fixed. A bad shell link in web-htb-gen was fixed. The tar.gz package
has been fixed, and a htb-gen directory is now created.

[021] - InteLib 0.5.71
  by Danya Alexyevsky (http://freshmeat.net/users/dendik/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 15:00

Software Development :: Libraries

About: InteLib is a library of C++ classes which lets you do Lisp
programming within your C++ programs even without any additional
preprocessing, without all those calling conventions. You can write code
which is accepted by a C++ compiler while thinking in a "Lisp mode", and
the code you write will look much like Lisp code, although it will be pure
C++.

Changes: NILL now handles Ctrl-C for interrupting Lisp evaluation and to
cancel user input, and supports loadable plugins with C++-written Lisp
functions. This is done with the DLOAD built-in function. Several bugs
have been fixed.

[022] - jGetFile 0.78-beta
  by Samuel Mendenhall (http://freshmeat.net/users/smendenhall/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 01:49

Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: jGetFile is a scriptable command-line mass-file downloader that is
specifically geared towards non-HTML files. It handles many of the HREF
configurations not supported in other mass downloaders, such as embedded
URLs in parameters. It also supports a highly configurable means to filter
the acceptance of links within the program.

Changes: When using the -d option (MaxDepthModel), a variable named
linkDepth now gets pushed to the BeanShell scripting environment. So now,
when using the -als option, the BeanShell file can make use of variable
linkDepth. The ability to specify the user-agent in the HTTP request via
the -ua/--user-agent option was added. The user-agent string defaults to
"Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)". Minor javadoc
additions were done.

[023] - LFT 2.6 Beta
  by oppleman (http://freshmeat.net/users/oppleman/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 05:29

System :: Networking
System :: Networking :: Firewalls
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: LFT (Layer Four Traceroute) is a sort of "traceroute" that often
works much faster than the commonly-used Van Jacobson method and goes
through many configurations of packet-filter based firewalls. More
importantly, LFT implements numerous other features, including AS number
lookups through several reliable sources, loose source routing, netblock
name lookups, and more. LFT also distinguishes between TCP-based
protocols, which make its statistics slightly more realistic, and gives a
savvy user the ability to trace protocol routes, not just layer-3 hops.

Changes: This release adds full-featured UDP tracing support (in addition
to TCP), Type of Service (ToS) support, improved performance/speed, an
improved timings display with support for time zones, numerous firewall
discovery improvements, support in the WhoB client for bulk input/output,
new interaction options for Prefix WhoIs, Autoconf updates, and bugfixes
in both LFT and WhoB.

[030] - log4sh 1.3.3 (1.3.X)
  by Kate Ward (http://freshmeat.net/users/sfsetse/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 11:46

System :: Logging

About: log4sh is a logging framework for shell scripts that works similar
to the other wonderful logging products available from the Apache Software
Foundataion (eg. log4j, log4perl). Although not as powerful as the others,
it can make the task of adding advanced logging to shell scripts easier,
and has much more power than just using simple "echo" commands throughout.
In addition, it can be configured from a properties file so that scripts in
a production environment do not need to be altered to change the amount of
logging they produce.

Changes: Many more small improvements, mostly that make log4sh play safer
in the environment it is running in. This version improves the randomness
of the temp dir under Solaris, and now uses traps to clean up after itself
upon exit of the outer shell program. Several SyslogAppender improvements
were made.

About: Marauroa is a multiplayer online game framework server. It uses a
multithreaded server architecture with a UDP oriented network protocol, a
MySQL based persistence engine, and a flexible game system. The game
system is totally expandable and modifiable by game developers and is able
to run Python scripts defining the game's rules. Marauroa is based on a
design philosophy called Action/Perception. Marauroa is totally game
agnostic and makes very little assumptions about what are you trying to
do, allowing a great freedom to create any game type.

Changes: The Perception system has been reworked to allow private

  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 14:54

Security
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Nuface is a Web-based administration tool that generates Edenwall,
NuFW, or simple Netfilter firewall rules. It features a high level
abstraction on the security policy set by the administrator, and works
internally on an XML data scheme. Its philosophy is to let you agglomerate
subjects, resources, or protocols into meta-objects, and use those meta
objects to generate ACLs, which are then interpreted as netfilter rules by
Nupyf, the internal XML parser. This tool may easily be extended to support
firewall implementations other than Netfilter.

Changes: This release adds an Apache sample configuration file, updateds
the example configuration files, adds the use of the Psyco Python package
when available (for better performance on netfilter rules generation), and
fixes Debian packaging mistakes.

  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 14:52

About: SharedAppVnc allows desktop windows to be shared or replicated
between remote computers. It is based on a modified VNC protocol.
Traditional VNC shares a user’s entire desktop, but this can be
problematic if some content, such as email, should be kept private.
SharedAppVnc resolves the private-public content problem by only sharing
the windows a user selects. Each shared window is shown in its own frame
on the client’s computer. This allows for independent resizing, moving, or
hiding of shared windows. Window positions on the local and remote client
are not dependent.

Changes: The SharedAppVnc server and viewer are now bundled together. A

necessary when remote hosts are behind a firewall. Help screens are now

About: Frink is a calculating tool and programming language designed to
help you in the real world. It tracks units of measurement throughout all
calculations and ensures that answers are correct. It converts between
systems of measurement and has a huge library of physical data. It handles
conversions between time zones, currencies, and historical values of the
U.S. dollar and the British pound, translates between several languages,
does date/time math, and more.

Changes: This release fixes an infinite loop when a class definition was
cyclic, that is, if a class contained class-level variables of that same

[069] - The TagMogrifier library for PHP 0.3.0

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
Text Processing :: Markup :: HTML/XHTML
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

About: The purpose of the Tagmogrifier library is to let you perform fast
and easy-to-program transformations on XML documents. Instead of having to
write your own parser, or directly using the PHP DOM parser, and having to
write your own tree walker and such, you only need to instantiate a class,
add a few match expressions, and assign a function to process every XML
element that matches, DOM-style.

Changes: Directlys import the XML instead of going through the SimpleXML
parsing stage.

[072] - UFRaw 0.7
  by Udi Fuchs (http://freshmeat.net/users/udifuchs/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 15:08

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Graphics Conversion

About: UFRaw is a utility for converting and manipulating raw images from
digital cameras. It can be used as a stand-alone tool or as a Gimp plugin,
and images can be batch processed using the commandline interface. UFRaw
reads most existing raw formats using Dave Coffin's raw conversion utility
DCRaw, and it supports basic color management using Little CMS, allowing
the user to apply color profiles. For Nikon users, UFRaw has the advantage
that it can read the camera's tone curves. Even if you don't own a Nikon,
you can still apply a Nikon curve to your images.

Changes: The biggest changes are improved calculation of color temperature
and per-camera white balance presets. New cameras supported (thanks to
dcraw 8.05) include: Canon EOS-1D Mark II N, Fuji FinePix E900, Nikon
D200, Olympus C3030Z, Olympus C7070WZ, Olympus SP500UZ, Phase One P 30,
and Phase One P 45.

  by cxl (http://freshmeat.net/users/cxl/)
  Fri, Mar 3rd 2006 08:48

Software Development
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Debuggers

About: Ultimate++ is a cross-platform C++ rapid application development
suite. It includes set of libraries (for things like GUI and SQL) and an
integrated development environment. Rapid development is achieved by smart
and aggressive use of C++ rather than through fancy code generators. In
this respect, U++ competes with popular scripting languages while
preserving C/C++ runtime characteristics. Its integrated development
environment, TheIDE, introduces modular conception to C++ programming, and
can be used to develop non-U++ applications.

Changes: This release adds a new Report package and fixes POSIX
multithreading support. The IDE has numerous improvements in C++ code
analysis and refactoring, a refactored project organization management
tool, an improved build process providing fine-grained optimization
options, and a new commandline mode. Many bugs have been fixed.
