[001] - amaroK 1.4-beta2
  by markey (http://freshmeat.net/users/markey/)
  Sun, Mar 5th 2006 19:02

Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE)
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio

About: amaroK is a sound system-independent audio-player for Unix. Its
interface uses a powerful "browser" metaphor that allows you to create
playlists that make the most of your music collection.

Changes: New features include crossfading for the Helix engine and an
equalizer plugin for the GStreamer 0.10 backend. The obsolete aRts and
GStreamer 0.8 engines have finally been removed. Many bugs have been
fixed, including some important stability improvements.

[002] - anyfs-tools 0.83.2
  by unDEFER (http://freshmeat.net/users/undefer/)
  Sun, Mar 5th 2006 19:00

System :: Filesystems
System :: Recovery Tools

About: anyfs-tools allows you to recover and convert filesystems while
using minimal extra disk space. Unlike other recovery tools, anyfs-tools
doesn't copy all the files found on other disks (or partitions), but only
saves information about the location of the file blocks to an external
inode table. After recovery, a user may mount the damaged filesystem with
anyfs and the external inode table and then interact with all recovered
files with any program.

Changes: MPEG2 stream format support (depends on libmpeg2) was added.
Program multiplex MPEG2 stream format support was added. A bugfix in the
fd_seek() function was made. A MAX_PDF_STREAM_SIZE option in config.h was
added. Ext2fs/Ext3fs info (block links) support was added. Non-economical
memory allocation in the anyfs kernel module was fixed. Now you can change
the list of recovering files without recompiling by using the -t option.
Plugin support was added.

System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration

About: Argo is a monitoring system for the Xen hyperviser, comprised of a
network server which runs upon your Xen host and any number of clients
which connect to that server over a socket. Supplied with the server are
two clients: a simple Web-based client and a graphical desktop client. The
clients allow you to start, stop, pause, or query available Xen virtual
instances.

Changes: This release updates the primitives available to the network
protocol to include the ability to reboot Xen instances. There were also a
couple of minor bugfixes applied to the PHP client.

[004] - AspectES 0.1
  by christopherbalz (http://freshmeat.net/users/christopherbalz/)
  Sun, Mar 5th 2006 01:31

Scientific/Engineering
Software Development :: Libraries

About: AspectES is an implementation of Aspect-Oriented Programming in
JavaScript 1.5, as standardized by EcmaScript Specification 262. It
contains core classes that enable software engineers to gracefully develop
JavaScript applications that have clear, well-documented designs that
incorporate Aspect Oriented Programming. This project only uses
standardized Web technologies: JavaScript 1.5, with no proprietary
extensions. The framework is documented with JavaScriptdoc.

Changes: This version is now contained in its own tigris.org project,
separate from the Gigapan Explorer application for which it was originally
developed.

[005] - ByteName 1.3
  by Bill Poser (http://freshmeat.net/users/billposer/)
  Sun, Mar 5th 2006 13:35

Text Processing

About: ByteName is a tool that for each byte of the input prints a line
consisting of the byte offset, the hex value of the byte, the octal value
of the byte, and its description in Latin-1, Latin-2, WinLatin1,
WinLatin2, or EBCDIC. A command line flag suppresses printing of lines
corresponding to ASCII characters, which is useful for locating stray
non-ASCII codes.

Changes: A choice of five encodings is now available: Latin-1, Latin-2,
WinLatin1, WinLatin2, and EBCDIC.

[009] - cppmake 0.3
  by icanoop (http://freshmeat.net/users/icanoop/)
  Sun, Mar 5th 2006 19:01

Software Development
Utilities

About: Cppmake is a front-end to make that builds C++ programs with less
effort than writing makefiles manually. Building a C++ program with
cppmake is similar to compiling a Java program. The idea is that you
specify a classpath and cppmake will automatically find all the classes
needed by your program. Once found, all of the classes are compiled and
linked into an executable or library.

Changes: Now supports Windows. Has an option to use an alternative make
command, such as NMAKE. Cleaning is now done in Python instead of make to
increase portability.

[011] - cryptmount 0.3
  by rwpenney (http://freshmeat.net/users/rwpenney/)
  Sun, Mar 5th 2006 13:15

Security :: Cryptography
System :: Filesystems

About: cryptmount allows any user to access encrypted filing systems on
demand under GNU/Linux systems running a 2.6-series kernel via the
device-mapper infrastructure. After initial configuration by the
superuser, an ordinary user can mount or unmount filesystems managed by
cryptmount solely by providing the decryption password, with any system
devices needed to access the filing system being configured automatically.
A wide variety of encryption schemes (provided by the kernel and OpenSSL
library) can be used to protect both the filing system and the access key.
The protected filing systems can reside in either ordinary files or disk
partitions.

Changes: All privileged activity is now recorded via syslog. Multiple
targets can now be mounted/unmounted simultaneously. A facility to unmount
all encrypted filing systems was added. Security checks on the
configuration file have been extended; Documentation of
password-changing/fsck tasks has been improved.

[013] - DeVeDe 1.3
  by Raster (http://freshmeat.net/users/scostas/)
  Sun, Mar 5th 2006 13:35

Multimedia :: Video :: Conversion

About: DeVeDe is a program to create video DVDs (compatible with home
players) from nearly any video format. It only uses MPlayer, Mencoder,
DVDAuthor, and MKISOFS, so it has very few dependecies.

Changes: This release adds full support for PAL/SECAM and NTSC. Now the
user can choose the kind of disc to create. It adds support for more
resolutions (352x288/352x240), so DVDs made from low-resolution videos
will have better quality. It scales the video or resamples the audio if
needed, so the conversion is a litle faster. There are some minor
bugfixes.

Multimedia :: Video :: Capture

About: ElphelOgm is a command line program that receives a realtime
multicast UDP stream in RTP/MJPEG format and saves it in Ogg/MJPEG format
with variable framerate. It has a fastidious algorithm with reordering UDP
packets and detection of errors and losses.

Changes: Changes in statistics output to stderr: now one time per second,
not with each frame; more info has been added. Changes in output file
format: the last frame in a file is marked with an EOS flag. Ogg stream is
flushed only at the end of the file. All frames are marked as syncpoints
(for correct seeking in the file).

[036] - MultiTail 3.9.10 (Development)
  by Folkert van Heusden (http://freshmeat.net/users/fvh/)
  Sun, Mar 5th 2006 08:15

System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration

About: MultiTail lets you view one or multiple files like the original
tail program. The difference is that it creates multiple windows on your
console (with ncurses). Merging of 2 or more log files is possible. It can
also use colors while displaying the log files (through regular
expressions) for faster recognition of what is important. It can also
filter lines (again with regular expressions). It has interactive menus
for editing given regular expressions and deleting and adding windows. One
can also have windows with the output of shell scripts and other software.
When viewing the output of external software, MultiTail can mimic the
functionality of tools like 'watch'.

Changes: This release adds a "--[no-]mergeall" switch, and new color
schemes for WebsPhere, procmail, nntpcache, and Veritas Netbackup. One can
now choose to only display the filename and not the complete path in the
status line. Multiple default color schemes per file can be configured in
multitail.conf. There are several user interface fixes (segfaults). The
"no linewrap" mode in scrollback did not work. Reverse in colorschemes
worked only for 1 character (the first one). The "diff" view has been
fixed.

[037] - My cOLLection manager 0.3.1
  by Michael Schulz (http://freshmeat.net/users/bloodshower/)
  Sun, Mar 5th 2006 13:33

About: My cOLLection manager is a database program for your collections.
It is a fast and easy to use frontend for gdbm with an ncurses interface.
The program was originally designed to organize a large music CD
collection, but it has no restrictions on the entry of any other large
range of items. Its main goal is flexibillity.

Changes: This release fixes some gcc 4.x warnings and fixes the "Merge"
button, which was not visible on small terminals. The item form has been
split into four windows, so that every form gets its own window. The image
form now allows the '~' key for your home directory. Some m4 macros were
added for the configure script. Configure now checks for gbdm, ndbm, and
dbm, makes a comprehensive check for POSIX threads, and searches for an
active Linux framebuffer device.

  Sun, Mar 5th 2006 13:37

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors :: Vector-Based
Software Development :: Documentation

About: UMLGraph facilitates the declarative specification and drawing of
UML class and sequence diagrams. One can specify a class design using the
Java syntax complemented by Javadoc tags. Running the UmlGraph doclet on
the specification generates a Graphviz diagram specification that can be
automatically processed to create Postscript, GIF, SVG, JPEG, fig, or
Framemaker drawings. Similarly, sequence diagrams are specified using
declarative pic macros and compiled with the GNU plotutils pic2plot
program into a PNG, PNM, (pseudo) GIF, SVG, AI, Postscript, CGM, FIG, PCL,
HPGL, Regis, or TEK drawing.

Changes: This release provides a number of new exciting features: enhanced
output flexibility, allowing better configuration of the appearance of
class diagrams; improved code reverse engineering, with automated
discovery of relations and dependencies; the precise specification of the
class diagram contents; and the creation of multiple class diagram views.
