Information Management :: Issue Tracking
Software Development :: Bug Tracking
About: AgileTrack is an agile development planning and iteration tracking
tool. It assists in the creation and life-cycle of iterations, projects,
stories, tasks, and bugs. It is focused on simplicity and practicality.
Its interface is designed to be useful specifically for software
developers on small development teams with rapidly-changing priorities and
requirements. Its primary interface for developers is geared toward
availability, speed, and purpose. It is flexible and minimalistic with
respect to the data that is required for records. It is designed to be
compatible with agile development methodologies, particularly Extreme
Programming.
Changes: This release fixes some MySQL 5.0 compatibility problems and
various interface problems. UI changes include fixing table sorting,
having view updates triggered by remote record changes, fixing some input
fields, and improving generation of some issue lists.

[004] - AntiRight Desktop Environment 2.13
by Jeffrey Bedard (http://freshmeat.net/users/jefbed/)
Mon, Mar 13th 2006 21:42
Desktop Environment
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio :: CD Playing
Office/Business
About: AntiRight is a lightweight and scripted desktop environment. The
arshell utility is used to interface the X toolkit in use with the shell,
thus allowing X applications to be written with shell scripts. A sample
implementation script, ACE, serves as the definition of the AntiRight
Desktop Environment, and all necessary desktop environment utilities are
implemented therein.
Changes: The distribution was simplified in order to reduce the
distribution size and general project structure. Support for NetBSD's sh
was added, removing the bash dependency for ACE execution. Building on
NetBSD was refined such that libraries located in /usr/pkg are now
detected. The whole desktop window in ACE has been phased out in favor of
the traditional panel. This allowed for the removal of unnecessary
pixmaps, further reducing project size.

Education
Scientific/Engineering
Scientific/Engineering :: Chemistry
About: GAMGI (General Atomistic Modelling Graphic Interface) is a program
to build, view, and analyze atomic strucures such as molecules, crystals,
glasses, liquids, etc. It aims to be useful for: the scientific community
working in Atomistic Modelling that needs a graphic interface to build
input data and to view and analyse output data, calculated with Ab-Initio
and Molecular Mechanics programs; the scientific community at large
studying chemistry, physics, materials science, geology, etc., that needs
a graphic interface to view and analyse atomic structural information and
to prepare images for presentations in classes and seminars; teaching
chemistry and physics in secondary schools and universities; science
promotion in schools, exhibitions and science museums.
Changes: This release moves everything in gamgi.org, except
Documentation->Interfaces and the front page, to new XHTML and CSS styles,
with simpler markup and much heavier use of CSS. Notebook and Menu pure CSS
pages are now used. Double and triple bonds are now properly represented in
both Wired and Solid modes. With few modifications (C, Si, Na, etc.), the
default color scheme used by Gabedit for atomic elements has been adopted
(resulting in a much more colorful Periodic Table).

Scientific/Engineering
Scientific/Engineering :: Bioinformatics
Scientific/Engineering :: Chemistry
About: GNU polyxmass features an integrated mass spectrometry framework
where users are able to define brand new polymer chemistries (within the
polyxdef module), and use these definitions in order to make simple mass
calculations (within the polyxcalc module) or perform complex simulations
of polymer chemistry with related mass data computations (within the
polyxedit module). The framework allows full customization of every aspect
of the polymer chemistry being defined, and of the way the polymer
sequences are graphically displayed. This program was formerly called
"polyXmass".
Changes: Fixes a bug that would occasionally crash the application while
opening the About window. Changes the implementation of the About window
from homemade to the GtkAboudDialog implementation. This new
implementation fixes the bug. Minor GUI changes. In particular, the
green/red flags in the sequence editor have explanatory tooltips, and one
flag that was a remnant of a previous version has been removed. Note that
only the polyxmass-bin package needs an update, as the libpolyxmass
dependency is not affected.

Multimedia :: Graphics
Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Rendering
About: Graphics3D is a free, Open Source C++ library for game developers,
researchers, and students. It is a base of robust and high performance
code common to most 3D projects. It is not a standalone graphics or game
engine--it is the set of pieces you need to jumpstart your own engine or
graphics project. The library has two parts: G3D for pure math, and GLG3D
for interacting with hardware acceleration via OpenGL. You can use G3D
without GLG3D if you want to use another 3D API (like DirectX) or don't
like the OpenGL abstraction.
Changes: This release has many new features, including an improved user
manual, cross-platform multithreading, and framebuffer and renderbuffer
support. Furthermore, there are many code optimizations and a high
precision timer to measure them. It also fixes about forty minor bugs that
were reported since last August.

[041] - monotone 0.25.2
by Nathaniel Smith (http://freshmeat.net/users/njsmith/)
Mon, Mar 13th 2006 03:56
Software Development :: Version Control
About: monotone is a distributed version control system with a flat peer
model, cryptographic version naming, meta-data certificates, decentralized
authority, and overlapping branches. It works out of a transactional
version database stored in a regular file, and uses a custom network
protocol for efficient database synchronization.
Changes: This release only fixes a security problem. Previous versions of
monotone contained a bug on case-insensitive filesystems whereby it was
possible for a malicious committer to add a versioned file named, for
instance, "mt/monotonerc". When checked out on Windows or Mac OS X, such a
file would end up inside monotone's metadata directory ("MT"), and allow
arbitrary code to be executed. Exposure is similar to that of habitually
running "monotone update; make" without reviewing patches.

by jimesh (http://freshmeat.net/users/jimesh/)
Mon, Mar 13th 2006 21:40
Internet :: Log Analysis
System :: Archiving
System :: Logging
About: NEPM monitors and reports uptime, critical events and their
predecessors, access rates, bytes-served rates, and error rates for
network node equipment. Hardware and software elements within the nodes
are tracked and reported separately to make possible rapid fault
isolation. It is a very general, highly configurable, two-part software
system that captures and analyzes logged performance data from
IP-networked equipment and reports it via email and Web pages. Current
conditions and history from systems based on Windows NT/2000, Unix, and
Unix-style operating systems can be tracked and reported. Most major
server, switch and router systems can be monitored, without running agents
on the target systems. NEPM itself is system-independent and can be hosted
on either a Unix or Win NT system or a combination of these with equal
ease.
Changes: An improved user interface, faster, simpler configuration,

[046] - Olive LiveCD 0.2
by iSteve (http://freshmeat.net/users/iSteve/)
Mon, Mar 13th 2006 02:47
Software Development
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions :: CD-Based
About: Olive is a GNU/Linux live distribution which uses several unusual
technologies, as well as some of the more common pieces of software. The
init scripts use a new scripting langugage, and run in parallel for faster
start-up, while satisfying dependencies. It uses the UniPKG package
manager, a compressed ramdisk, Keith Packard's X server, and many features
of the 2.6 series of kernels. Olive is designed to display how easy to use
Linux may be, yet without losing any of the features required for
heavy-duty work.
Changes: The compressed ramdisk was fixed for a larger volume of RAM, and
the fallback tmpfs option was fixed. Serial console is fully supported for
booting and logging in. Booting up was made even a little faster by not
waiting for DHCP. The new detectfs was created. Command line options were
fixed. The mplayer mozilla-firefox plugin was added. A "set as default"
option was added in panel-alsamixer to switch the default sound card. A
3-button mouse is emulated in X. The X log is removed. Minor cleanups were

[048] - OSSP uuid 1.4.2
by Ralf S. Engelschall (http://freshmeat.net/users/rse/)
Mon, Mar 13th 2006 03:53
Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Operating System
About: OSSP uuid is an API for ISO C, ISO C++, Perl and PHP and a
corresponding CLI for the generation of DCE 1.1, ISO/IEC 11578:1996, and
RFC4122 compliant Universally Unique Identifiers (UUIDs). It supports DCE
1.1 variant UUIDs of version 1 (time and node based), version 3 (name
based, MD5), version 4 (random number based), and version 5 (name based,
SHA-1). UUIDs are 128-bit numbers that are intended to have a high
likelihood of uniqueness over space and time and are computationally
difficult to guess. They are globally unique identifiers that can be
locally generated without contacting a global registration authority.
Changes: The uuid_export() function was fixed by fixing the internal
uuid_s[ar]printf() functions which require the backup of "va_list"
arguments between subsequent processing. The Perl API's "export" function
was fixed by not taking over NUL-termination character under
"UUID_FMT_TXT". The "install", "uninstall", and "clean" make(1) targets
were declared as ".PHONY". This especially works around problems on case
insensitive file systems (e.g. on Mac OS X).

by Loic Dachary (http://freshmeat.net/users/loic/)
Mon, Mar 13th 2006 03:26
Games/Entertainment
About: poker-network includes a poker server, a client library, an
abstract user interface library, and a client based on it. The server
deals the cards and checks the user actions using a poker game engine
(poker-engine). It listens on a TCP/IP port and understands its own
specific protocol. The persistent information is stored in a MySQL
database. The client library implements the poker-network protocol for the
client. The abstract user interface library provides a framework based on
the client library and suited to implement a user friendly client.
Changes: Muck control was added. New tournament payout structures were
created. A timeout handling bug and chat history were fixed. Transparent
proxy support was added. Delays and interface bugs were fixed. The
interface for the poker client was improved. The protocol has changed. All
amounts are expressed in 1/100 of units or cents. Clients negotiate with
the server to start the next hand as quickly as possible. A bugfix was
made in protocol detection and error report. A random outfit is selected
if the outfit from the server is obsolete. User sessions are archived in
the database.

keys on smartcards through a standardized PKCS#11 interface. A unique
feature is the use of X.509 attribute certificates to implement advanced
access control schemes based on group memberships.
Changes: If the native netkey IPsec stack of the Linux 2.6 kernel is used,
then "ipsec status" now displays the precise time interval that has elapsed
since the last use of each active eroute. This information is also used by
the Dead Peer Detection protocol to detect recent ESP traffic.
strongSwan's "ipsec" runlevel startup script now calls the fast "ipsec
starter" command. The starter's parser was extended to recognize the
"auth=ah" option in ipsec.conf.

[061] - Stunnix Advanced Web Server 1.2
by Stunnix (http://freshmeat.net/users/stunnix/)
Mon, Mar 13th 2006 11:02
Information Management :: Document Repositories
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
Software Development :: User Interfaces
About: Stunnix Advanced Web Server is a Web server for putting Web sites
onto CDROMs, DVDs, FlashDisks, and other readonly media to be used on any
typical system. Sites can be scripted with PHP or Perl and can be driven
by MySQL or SQLite databases. All required software programs are designed
to reside on the CDROM to avoid the need to install software on the user's
computer. The Web serving core is based on Apache 1.3.x, and has additional
functionality to detect and use free ports, automatically start a browser
on each platform, and to stop the Web server once a resource with a
special name is visited. Desktop applications can also be created with it.
Changes: This release adds CDBuilder, an advanced browser-based UI for
configuring all properties of a CD. It adds support for PHP 5 for all
platforms. It adds options for configuring browser window properties on
Windows (showing the toolbar, statusbar, and so on). It adds a
configuration option not to eject the CD-ROM on server shutdown. It adds
the ability to run user programs before running the Web server (useful for
showing animated logos made as Flash projectors). Perl for Linux has been
updated to version 5.8.5. Other useful changes have been made.

internationalized and multilingualized.
Changes: The result of the query search can now be sorted. The printing of
messages now follows the state of 'Show all headers'. To, Cc, and Bcc
buttons in the address book are now always enabled and the window position
is now preserved. In the Unix version, support for the metamail command was
removed and replaced with the alternative implementation. In the Win32
version, libwimp.dll was updated and the appearance of the UI was
improved. The unnecessary message catalog files were removed from the
Win32 version to reduce the archive size.

Software Development
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: VRaptor 2 is a Web-based MVC and IOC framework based on many
frameworks and ideas (Seam, Stripes, Webwork, Hibernate Annotations, etc).
It makes full use of Java 5 Annotations. It favors convention over
configuration, because configuration in XML/properties/annotations is
always easy to make mistakes and repetitive (aka copy and paste in many
places). This framework uses a more imperative approach, instead of having
many XML files to configure lifecycle and other properties. Most of the
settings go inside plain Java objects (POJO), so the team knows exactly
what is going on and where.
