[001] - Achievo ATK 5.5
by Ivo Jansch (http://freshmeat.net/users/ivoibs/)
Thu, Mar 16th 2006 07:01
Database :: API
Database :: Front-Ends
Information Management
About: Achievo ATK is an object oriented Web-application framework. It is
targeted at developers who wish to focus on business logic instead of
coding HTML. Where other application frameworks mainly provide a large set
of utility classes, ATK provides a complete framework that requires only
small amounts of code to get usable applications, while maintaining full
flexibility. In other words, even 10 lines of code get you a working
application, but everything that is generated for you can be completely
customized.
Changes: The unit-test functionality was enhanced. Error handling was
improved. Tab-based access control was added. The API was enhanced with
new methods and new flags. Several bugs were fixed. The Polish, Brazilian
Portuguese, Spanish, French, Norwegian, Italian, and Dutch translations
were updated.

by Talrias (http://freshmeat.net/users/Talrias/)
Thu, Mar 16th 2006 13:26
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: Message Boards
About: aterr is a threaded forum system, allowing registered visitors to
express their opinions, discuss topics, and debate with other visitors. A
threaded forum system differs from regular, flat forum systems in that
once posted, a thread can fork, allowing visitors to reply directly to
other posts. aterr also provides a customisable permissions system, the
ability to nest forums, and moderation tools.
Changes: Fixes an error when installing to the root directory of a domain
name, adds pagination to the thread listing page, and adds email domain
name validation when registering, in addition to several minor feature
additions and bugfixes.

[003] - AudioMove 1.11
by Jeremy Friesner (http://freshmeat.net/users/jaf/)
Thu, Mar 16th 2006 22:04
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Conversion
About: AudioMove is a handy GUI-based batch audio file converter/copier
program. It can convert various audio file formats to WAV or AIFF format
(using libsndfile), and do high-quality sample-rate conversion at the same
time (using libsamplerate). It is multi-threaded for maximum throughput,
can handle thousands of files per batch, and does recursive directory
scans.
Changes: This version fixes an annoying usability problem: in previous
versions, the destination folder would be automatically created if it
didn't exist. That turned out to be problematic because if the destination
referred to a mount-point which was not currently mounted, a local
directory would be created at the mount-point's previous location. This
was very confusing for the user. In this version, the destination widget
turns pink if the destination directory does not exist, and attempts to
write to a non-existent directory will fail, rather than auto-creating the
directory.

by tjsa (http://freshmeat.net/users/tjsa/)
Thu, Mar 16th 2006 06:34
Text Processing :: Filters
Utilities
About: bbe is a sed-like editor for binary files. Instead of reading input
in lines as sed, bbe reads arbitrary blocks from an input stream and
performs byte-related transformations on found blocks. Blocks can be
defined using start/stop strings, stream offset and block length, or a
combination. Basic editing commands include delete, replace,
search/replace, binary operations (and, or, etc.), append, and bcd/ASCII
conversion. For examining the input stream, it contains some grep-like
features like printing the input file name, stream offset, and block
number of found blocks. Block contents can also be printed in different
formats like hex, octal, ASCII, and binary.
Changes: The d-command was changed, so count can be replaced with *,
meaning all bytes in a block. The man page now displays correctly in
HP-UX.

About: Btrcv is a GUE wrapper for gnome-obex-server. Btrcv is not useful
for single files, but if you receive files when you have opted to "Always
accept files from this device", then you will no longer get any progress
on received files from gnome-obex-server. Btrcv will remedy this by
presenting a small window with transfer progress, and it allows you to
open or reveal a file as it is transferred. gnome-obex-server is still
responsible for receiving files. Btrcv loads gnome-obex-server in the
background.

a focus on compact and standards-conforming code. Its source texts are
HTML files that use an extended syntax allowing for macros, conditionals,
variables, expressions, etc. These sources are transformed into static
(X)HTML pages. HSC checks the result for many common errors such as
missing end tags and nesting mistakes, both in the markup and, to a
limited extent, in CSS. As a commandline tool, it can be used together
with "make", and a dependency generator is included. The macro library
features things like navigation menus, LaTeX-style sections, footnotes and
bibliographies, semiautomatic table-based layout, and database/scripting
interfaces.
Changes: This version has a new special tag added for more complex pattern
matching, some more descriptive error messages, and various small fixes in
the code and documentation.

different organizations to participate in a global troubleshooting
community and share knowledge about common events and problems while
preserving data privacy.
Changes: Splunk now keeps its index optimized automatically. This
eliminates the need to manually optimize the index for any reason. The

[064] - systeminfo.sh 1.3
by Kirk Waingrow (http://freshmeat.net/users/wkrik/)
Thu, Mar 16th 2006 22:11
Software Development :: Documentation
System :: Systems Administration
Utilities
About: systeminfo.sh is a system information gathering script for Linux.
It is non-intrusive and simply gathers information from commands that are
already available. It outputs a single file or generates a menu driven Web
page. The information includes hostname, software packages, memory, OS
information, process information, kernel modules, network routes, socket
ports, ulimits, chkconfig, hardware devices, swap, disks, DNS info, top,
processor, meminfo, dmesg, cron jobs, network interfaces, and more.
Changes: When invoked without options, the script now produces information
to stdout, tar, and Web pages. vmstat info was moved to the bottom of the
system section. A functional rewrite was done. Collection is done in a
single pass now. Status updates are displayed for the -t and -w options.
Additional arguments were added: -a to collect information, generate Web
pages and a tar file, then display to stdout; -d to display to stdout as
it collects the information; -h to display a help message; -t to create
just a tar file of Web pages; -w to create just the Web pages and master
info file.

[065] - Task Coach 0.57
by Frank Niessink (http://freshmeat.net/users/fniessink/)
Thu, Mar 16th 2006 13:57
Office/Business :: Scheduling
About: Task Coach is a simple todo manager to manage personal tasks and
todo lists. It grew out of a frustration that well-known task managers,
such as those provided with Outlook or Lotus Notes, do not provide
facilities for composite tasks. Often, tasks and other things to do
consist of several activities. Task Coach is designed to deal with
composite tasks.
Changes: This release fixes a couple of bugs and makes Task Coach
available as a disk image (.dmg) for Mac OS X (tested on OS X 10.4).

[066] - Terminal ScreenSaver 0.7.8.4 (Development)
by Kristian Gunstone (http://freshmeat.net/users/Gamkiller/)
Thu, Mar 16th 2006 10:54
About: Terminal ScreenSaver (or tss for short) is an attempt to clone and
enhance FreeBSD's text-mode screen saver. Although intended for GNU/Linux,
it works fine under FreeBSD and probably a lot of other Unix-based
operating systems. Unlike the daemonsaver in FreeBSD, you may choose ASCII
art of your own liking or make your own.
Changes: This release has ASCII autopadding, long options, more mirrored
characters, a line check fix, and other minor fixes.

by VMD (http://freshmeat.net/users/vmd/)
Thu, Mar 16th 2006 03:17
Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Rendering
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
Scientific/Engineering
About: VMD (Visual Molecular Dynamics) is designed for the visualization
and analysis of biological systems such as proteins, nucleic acids, lipid
bilayer assemblies, etc. It may be used to view more general molecules, as
VMD can read standard Protein Data Bank (PDB) files and display the
contained structure. VMD provides a wide variety of methods for rendering
and coloring a molecule: simple points and lines, CPK spheres and
cylinders, licorice bonds, backbone tubes and ribbons, cartoon drawings,
and others. VMD can be used to animate and analyze the trajectory of a
molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. In particular, VMD can act as a
graphical front end for an external MD program by displaying and animating
a molecule undergoing simulation on a remote computer. VMD uses OpenGL and
OpenGL Programmable Shading Language for high performance rendering of
large structures.
Changes: This test version includes new ports to Mac OS X on Intel, Linux
on Itanium, and 64-bit AIX5. New structure building plugins and many
updated molecular file reader/writer plugins were included.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Scientific/Engineering
About: wview is an application that controls a supported weather station
to retrieve archive records and current conditions. Archive records may
optionally be stored in a relational database (MySQL or PostgreSQL). At a
user-defined interval, wview will use the archive history and current
conditions to generate weather images (buckets and graphs) and Web pages
based on configurable HTML templates. It supports serial and USB data
loggers, as well as connectivity with a terminal server or serial server
via TCP sockets.
Changes: The VP state machine was modified to better detect and handle
missed archive records. Support for the WXT-510 extra sensors was added to
the Alarms processing. Two new HTML tags were added: --localRadarURL-- and
--localForecastURL--. Support for configuring them in wviewconfig and
producing them in htmlgend was added. References to them were added in all
of the homepage templates. See examples/html/index.htx for example usage.
