Software Development :: Libraries

About: AqBanking is a modular and generic interface to online banking
tasks, financial file formats (import/export) and bank/country/currency
information. It provides frontends for Qt, KDE, GTK, and console.
AqBanking uses backend plugins to actually perform the online tasks. HBCI,
OFX DirectConnect, YellowNet, GeldKarte, and DTAUS discs are currently
supported. AqBanking is used by GnuCash, KMyMoney,and QBankManager.

Changes: Creating users for HBCI works again, and an important bug in OFX
DirectConnect has been fixed.

[005] - Armagetron Advanced 0.2.8.1 (Stable)
  by z-man (http://freshmeat.net/users/zmanuel/)
  Sun, Mar 26th 2006 01:02

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Arcade

About: In Armagetron, you ride a lightcycle around the game grid. You can
only make sharp turns of 90 degrees and a wall constantly builds up after
you. Make your enemies crash into your wall, but be aware that they are
trying to do the same to you. If you are fast enough, you may be able to
trap them, but the only way to speed up your lightcycle is to drive close
to the dangerous walls. Prepare for exciting strategic preparations
followed by action-packed close combat!

Changes: Two security fixes were made since 0.2.8.0_rc4: A malicious
server administrator was able to inject files in arbitrary positions on
connecting clients, provided there was no file there initially; and a
malicious remote server administrator, often chosen to be an ordinary
player, could read arbitrary files partially.

[006] - BlogTrader Platform 1.0.2
  by Caoyuan Deng (http://freshmeat.net/users/dcaoyuan/)
  Sun, Mar 26th 2006 02:21

Office/Business :: Financial :: Investment

About: BlogTrader Platform (i.e. Humai Trader Platform) is a stock
technical analysis platform with a pluggable architecture that is ideal
for extensions such as indicators and charts. It supports parallel quote
data retrieval from Yahoo! or ASCII text files, historical, intra-day, and
real-time charts, and candle, bar, and line charts. It has a natural
date/trading date view model. "MACD", "OBV", "ROC", "KD", "BIAS", "DMI",
"RSI", "MTM", and "WMS" indicators and drawing of "Line", "Parallel",
"Gann Angle", and "Fibonacci Line" are supported. You can easily write
your own indicators.

Changes: This release supports daily, weekly, and monthly charts. All of
the charts, including their indicators, will be updated dynamically
according to the newest real-time tickers. The indicators and their
parameters can be set separately for daily, weekly, and monthly charts.
Drawing layers can also be applied separately to daily, weekly, and
monthly charts. Historical volume distribution and zigzag indicators were
added. Fibonacci arcs, Fibonacci fan lines, Fibonacci retracement, and
Fibonacci vertical retracement drawing line were added. Adding a
probability mass chart to any variable of indicator is supported.

number of previously learned document collections. It can be used to sort
incoming email into arbitrary categories such as spam, work, and play, or
simply to distinguish an English text from a French text. It fully
supports international character sets, and uses sophisticated statistical
models based on the Maximum Entropy Principle.

Changes: This is a hodge-podge of fixes and improvements. A new hypex
command, the TREC 2005 options files, and an essay on chess are now in the
tarball. Several improvements to the parsing engine were made, including a
new -e char option and bugfixes. Compilation problems on various

Database
Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Software Development :: Libraries

About: hk_classes is a set of C++ libraries for rapid development of
database applications with all features a modern database application
should have, like forms and reports. hk_classes is database and GUI
independent. It also includes command line tools to use hk_classes in
scripts. hk_classes includes drivers for DBase, Firebird, MS Access,
MySQL, Paradox, PostgreSQL, ODBC, and SQLite.

Changes: The main new feature is the improved query editor. It handles
outer and inner joins (as far as the SQL server supports it). The drivers
SQLITE3, SQLITE2, and MDB (MS Access) can compile without the need to
install extra packages, so they are generally available. Many bugs are
fixed.

[028] - idioskopos 0.1.13
  by Rick Vinyard (http://freshmeat.net/users/rvinyard/)
  Sun, Mar 26th 2006 21:40

Software Development

About: idioskopos (Greek: idio- inward, within, private; -skopos look,
aim, target) is a C++ library that attempts to simplify the addition of
object reflection and introspection. The idioskopos library is based
heavily on the approach taken in Gtkmm to wrap the gobject interface.
However, it is a standalone library and depends only on the sigc++
library.

Changes: This release has some code cleanups and a little more
documentation. The Introspectable class now has STL bi-directional
iterators (as opposed to the previous forward iterators). The included
spec file for building RPMs has also been cleaned up.

  Sun, Mar 26th 2006 17:18

Communications :: Email

About: Mail Avenger is a highly-configurable, MTA-independent SMTP server.
It lets users run messages through filters like ClamAV and SpamAssassin
during SMTP transactions, so the server can reject unwanted email before
assuming responsibility for its delivery. Other unique features include
TCP SYN fingerprint and network route recording, SPF (sender policy
framework) as a general policy language, qmail-style delivery of extension
addresses, validation of sender addresses through SMTP callbacks, mail-bomb
protection, integration with kernel firewalls, and more.

[040] - octopus TDDFT 2.0.1
  by Axel Thimm (http://freshmeat.net/users/thimm/)
  Sun, Mar 26th 2006 05:20

Scientific/Engineering :: Chemistry

About: octopus is a program aimed at the ab initio virtual experimentation
on a hopefully ever increasing range of systems types. Electrons are
describe quantum-mechanically within the Density-Functional Theory (DFT),
in its time-dependent form (TDDFT) when doing simulations in time. Nuclei
are described classically as point particles. Electron-nucleus interaction
is described within the Pseudopotential approximation.

Changes: Spin-unrestricted calculations for systems with non-local
pseudopotentials were giving wrong numbers. For some atoms, the error was
small, but there were cases for which the errors were sizeable. Wrong
units were used in a part of the Vosko, Wilk, and Nusair LDA correlation
functional. Parallel calculations with orbital-dependent xc functionals
crashed under some circumstances. Local magnetic moments were not computed
properly when running parallel in domains.

[054] - Pinot 0.45
  by Fabrice Colin (http://freshmeat.net/users/colinf/)
  Sun, Mar 26th 2006 02:40

About: Pinot is a metasearch tool built around the GTKmm toolkit, the
Xapian information retrieval library, and the language guessing
functionality of libtextcat. It enables one to query search engines, and
display as well as analyze and locally index the returned results. It can
also be used as a lightweight desktop search tool (local documents and
mbox mail accounts can be imported and indexed). The type of documents is
currently limited to plain text, HTML, PDF, and MS Word.

Changes: The suggestion of query terms and which color to use when listing
new results are now configurable preferences. For search engines that use
redirectors (such as Yahoo!), actual result URLs are extracted from the
given links. Abstract generation has been tweaked. Some search engines
were removed and others were added. The build system was changed to work
on Fedora Core 5. The cause of the crash when searching several engines

About: SimPy is a discrete event, object-oriented, simulation package for
Python 2.2 and later. It uses generators which support efficient
implementation of coroutines. It allows easy interfacing to GUIs and
graphing packages for analysis. Tutorial and examples are included.

Changes: This is a major release with significant new facilities. SimPy
now supports easy, clean implementation of models for producer/consumer
and multi-process cooperation scenarios. It does this through the new
abstract Buffer class, with sub-classes Level and Store. Processes can
asynchronously put items into a buffer by *yield put* and get items with
*yield get* statements. Examples of their use are provide in the
SimPyModels folder.

[065] - VNCTracker 1.2
  by irieiam (http://freshmeat.net/users/irieiam/)
  Sun, Mar 26th 2006 01:56

System :: Systems Administration

About: VNCTracker is a tool to keep track of mostly dynamic hosts on
various dial-up accounts. Rather than call each user whenever you need a
current IP address for connecting with VNC, you visit the Web page
generated by VNCTracker which shows the updated IP address for that host.
You can then build .vnc files for easily starting VNC with the settings to
connect to the host.

Changes: More code cleanup was done. config.php is now used for most
options. No visual changes were made. Some HTML was seperated from the PHP
echos.

[069] - Zero Install Injector 0.19
  by Thomas Leonard (http://freshmeat.net/users/tal197/)
  Sun, Mar 26th 2006 11:29

Internet
Software Development :: Version Control
System :: Archiving :: Packaging

About: The Zero Install Injector makes it possible for users to install
software easily and without the need for root privileges. It takes the URL
of a program's interface description and chooses suitable versions of the
program and all of its dependencies (also identified by URLs) according to
the user's policy settings (eg. "stable", "testing", "minimal network use",
etc). The chosen versions are downloaded and cached and the program is run,
using environment variables to let it find the components.

Changes: The GUI now provides an interface for removing old versions from
the cache easily. Icons are downloaded and displayed in the GUI.
Unrecognised XML elements in interfaces are stored in the model as
metadata, and can therefore be used from programs. The injector is now
roughly twice as fast as the previous version.
