About: Adaptive Website Framework (AWF) is a modern content management
system and development framework. Most of its code is object-oriented and
very easy to extend. It features support for multiple Web sites and
languages, content versioning, caching, community portal functions (online
list, forums, instant messages, newsletters, weblogs, wiki, etc.), image
upload and galleries, a lexicon, a modular full-text search engine, an
auto repair function for database tables, XML and PDF export, and RSS and
LDAP support. Changes can be made on a preview site and published at a
later time on the live site. Fully flexible URLs allow the replacement of
existing static Web sites.

Changes: This release features many small bugfixes and a new anti-spam
function.

[003] - AKFQuiz 4.2.2
  by Andreas K. Foerster (http://freshmeat.net/users/AKFoerster/)
  Sun, May 7th 2006 01:40

Education

About: The AKFQuiz package lets you easily make your own quiz games or
learning exercises. These can be used either with grquiz in a graphical
environment (SDL), with crtquiz on a text terminal, or with diaquiz in a
GUI environment. There is also a line oriented variant, linequiz, which
can be used as a backend. A CGI-variant can be installed on a Web server
to offer exercises via the Web. A mkquiz tool that generates an HTML file
for to use with the JavaScript akfquiz5.js is also included. Those can
then be published with any Web-space provider.

Changes: Some new keywords for quizfiles were added. The relocation
algorithm was improved. grquiz now has better handling for
questions/answers which don't fit on one single screen. It also starts
with an info-screen and has some more eye-candy. akfquiz.cgi was renamed
to cgiquiz. crtquiz was renamed to scrquiz, and it can handle very small
screens now. There are binaries for GNU/Linux on devices with ARM
processors.

[005] - BFilter 1.0
  by jart (http://freshmeat.net/users/jart/)
  Sun, May 7th 2006 12:40

Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: BFilter is a smart filtering HTTP proxy. Its primary purpose is
removing banner ads. Unlike the majority of similar tools, it doesn't rely
on a list of blocked URLs, but instead parses HTML on the fly, and detects
ads using a set of heuristic rules. BFilter has a built-in Javascript
engine that detects js-generated ads.

Changes: A possible crash that was introduced in the last version was
fixed. Links using onclick rather than href are now handled. A New rule
"AD" for URL patterns was added. Some code cleanups and performance
improvements were made.

[006] - Bitgate Server Software Environment 0.1.2 delta-stable
  by Ken Hollis (http://freshmeat.net/users/Tsuichi1/)
  Sun, May 7th 2006 18:18

Internet

About: Bitgate Server Software Environment aims to build a multi-protocol
environment in which server protocol handlers can be eventually loaded and
unloaded on the fly using a center console or controller Web page. It aims
to have 99.9% uptime, and have high-availability (Java 6) compliance. It
is written in Java 5, and relies completely on Java's I/O functionality to
provide non-blocking support for both SSL and non-SSL sockets
(transparently). All configuration is done via XML files, as this is
easier to maintain. It includes a minimal demonstration HTTP server.

Changes: The HTTP server can display directories. Simple code for an SMTP
server skeleton has been added. Some debugging information has been
removed from the main server code. This server is now stable enough to
display simple Web pages.

were garbled images when changing the image size and non-functioning rulers
for image position. This is now fixed through the used of the newly
introduced function "dc1394_format7_set_roi()" of libdc1394 v2.
Error/warning popup deadlocks have been fixed. Broadcast flag handling has
been updated. Synched with libdc1394. ISO restart when changing

[044] - POMStrap 1.0.2
  by Alag (http://freshmeat.net/users/Alag/)
  Sun, May 7th 2006 18:06

Software Development :: Build Tools

About: POMStrap is a really simple Java application bootstrap and
classloader trick that allows dependency "classloading" without side
effect. POMStrap uses Maven2 pom files to resolve dependencies required to
launch an application. For example, if your application depends on A-1.0
(and can only work with this version) and B-1.0; and if B-1.0 also depends
on A-2.0, then B-1.0's dependency won't normally be able to be satisfied
without violating another one of your application's dependencies. POMStrap
avoids this kind of dependency conflict.

About: pXw4Pa (poor XML wrapper for PHP arrays) consists of 2 simple PHP
functions that can read/write a PHP array from/to an XML file. It can be
used to store data in XML files simply and quickly.

Changes: Both functions were totally rewritten. Serialization is no longer
used. The read function now uses the PHP XML parser, which displays useful
information on badly formatted XML. Compared to version 0.8, the functions
are now around half the size and twice as fast. The supported data types
are string, integer, double (=floating point), boolean, and NULL. The
"type" attribute was added to the XML structure. Some documentation

About: Remote Python Call (RPyC) is a Python library for distributed

asynchronously). Unlike other RPCs, it is transparent, which means you
work with remote objects as you would work with local ones. Moreover, it
is symmetrical, so you can use callbacks, etc.

  Sun, May 7th 2006 22:16

Database
Database :: Front-Ends

About: SchemaSpy is a Java-based tool that analyzes the metadata of a
schema in a database and generates a visual representation of it in a
browser-displayable format. It lets you click through the hierarchy of
database tables via child and parent table relationships. Browsing through
relationships can occur though HTML links and/or though the graphical
representation of the relationships. It's also designed to help resolve
the obtuse errors that a database sometimes gives related to failures due
to constraints.

Changes: SchemaSpy now generates an XML representation of the database's
schema. A new -all option analyzes all schemas in the database with one
command. Database table and row comments are now displayed. You can now
specify a subset of tables/views to include in the analysis with the new
-i option. Support for Firebird and Informix was added.

Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Interpreters

About: Seed7 is a general purpose programming language. It is a higher
level language compared to Ada, C++, and Java. In Seed7, new statements
and operators can be declared easily. Functions with type results and type
parameters are more elegant than a template or generics concept. Object
orientation is used when it brings advantages and not in places when other
solutions are more obvious. Although Seed7 contains several concepts of
other programming languages, it is generally not considered as a direct
descendant of any other programming language.

Changes: The reporting of semantic errors was improved, so now the line
number and the line itself are shown. A checkmark picture was added to
pic16.s7i and pic32.s7i. A tiny inaccuracy in the heap statistic was
fixed. The source and include file management of the interpreter was

[062] - wxRemind 2006-05-07
  by Dan Graham (http://freshmeat.net/users/dgraham/)

Desktop Environment :: Gnome
Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE)

About: wxRemind is a wxPython-based front-end for Remind, a powerful
calendar and alarm application. Similar to the curses-based Wyrd, the
display features a calendar and daily event list suitable for visualizing
your schedule at a glance. Dates and associated events can be quickly
selected either with the mouse or cursor keys, and dates in the calendar
are color coded to reflect the total duration of scheduled events.
wxRemind integrates with an external editor of your choice to make editing
of reminder files more efficient, and provides hotkeys to quickly access
the most common Remind options.

Changes: Reminders can now 'RUN' wxRemAlert.py (provided) to display a
pop-up message, play a sound file, or invoke festival to read the event
message aloud. This release can display and optionally print a postscript
calendar for a selected month. You can choose font face names and sizes
for the today button and event list. You can choose between twelve-hour
(AM/PM) and twenty-four hour time displays. Improved, wyrd-like
configuration for the editor and remind strings. Improved syntax for
floating reminders. Leading zeros have been removed from hours and days.

[063] - Xdialog 2.2.1

System :: Systems Administration
Utilities

About: Xdialog is designed to be a drop-in replacement for the dialog and
cdialog programs. It converts any terminal-based program into a program
with an X interface. The dialogs are easier to see and use, and Xdialog
adds more functionality such as a help button and box, a treeview, an
editbox, file and directory selectors, a range box, and a calendar. It
uses GTK+, and will match your desktop theme.

Changes: A bug in the --dselect widget was corrected to prevent it from
returning a filename instead of the directory name. This widget was also
improved slightly.
