[001] - amavisd-new 2.4.1
  by Mark Martinec (http://freshmeat.net/users/mmartinec/)
  Mon, May 8th 2006 11:08

Communications :: Email :: Filters

About: amavisd-new is a high-performance and reliable interface between
MTAs and one or more content checkers, including virus scanners, and/or
the Mail::SpamAssassin Perl module. It talks to an MTA via (E)SMTP or
LMTP, or by using helper programs. No timing gaps exist in the design,
which could cause a mail loss. It is normally positioned at or near a
central mailer, not necessarily where the user's mailboxes and final
delivery takes place.

Changes: Inserts address extensions at tag2 level instead of at kill
level, reverting a 2.4.0 change. No longer reports a non-fatal error when
a decoder for SFX archives is defined but does not exist. Updated qmail
and Courier patches. Fixes a bug in Courier setup where a state was not
reset. The read_array can again read a list of networks. The variables
spam_subject_tag3_maps and spam_tag3_level_maps have been adde, as well
as four LDAP attributes. Retains DSN information when storing mail in
BSMTP format. Extends the macros iterator and regexp, and adds new macros
to be able to log the queue ID of a forwarded message.

Internet
Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: BalanceNG is a modern software IP load balancing solution. It is
small, fast, and easy to use and setup. It offers session persistence,
different distribution methods (Round Robin, Random, Hash, and Least
Resource) and a customizable UDP health check agent in source code. It
supports VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) to set up high
availability configurations on multiple nodes. It integrates pcap packet
dumping for debugging purposes and allows the implementation of a
"transparent forensic logging bridge".

Changes: The maximum numbers of virtual servers and targets have been
increased to be 512 and 1024, respectively. The manual has been updated to
release 1.540.0.

  Mon, May 8th 2006 10:36

Office/Business :: Financial
Office/Business :: Financial :: Investment
Software Development :: Libraries

About: CCAPI is a financial engineering and financial application library
for Java. It provides interfaces for automated stock exchange trading
through GCI. Additionally, it provides functions to retrieve online quotes
from various data sources, including EUWAX, Comdirect, Yahoo!, and GCI. It
provides a comprehensive library of technical and mathematical indicator
implementations, like MACD, SMA, EMA, RSI, Williams %R, Correlation, and
more.

Changes: This version contains lots of new features and a major design
refinement. The support for various online brokers has been improved, some
new indicators have been added (sharpeRatio), and a generic backtesting
system structure has been added: it is now possible to write and test
trade systems. The charting has been improved and specialized for stocks.

  by Michael Sweet (http://freshmeat.net/users/easysw/)
  Mon, May 8th 2006 15:14

Internet
Printing
Software Development :: Libraries

About: CUPS provides a portable printing layer for Unix(r)-based operating
systems. It has been developed to promote a standard printing solution for
all Unix vendors and users. CUPS provides the System V and Berkeley
command line interfaces, and uses the Internet Printing Protocol ("IPP")
as the basis for managing print jobs and queues. The Line Printer Daemon
(LPD) Server Message Block (SMB), and AppSocket (a.k.a. JetDirect)
protocols are also supported with reduced functionality. CUPS adds network
printer browsing and PostScript Printer Description ("PPD") based printing
options to support real world printing under UNIX. It includes an image
file RIP that supports printing of image files to non-PostScript printers.
A customized version of GNU Ghostscript 7.05 for CUPS called ESP
Ghostscript is available separately to support printing of PostScript
files within the CUPS driver framework. Sample drivers for Dymo, EPSON,
HP, and OKIDATA printers are included that use these filters.

Changes: This is the first stable feature release in the 1.2.x series and
includes over 90 new features and changes since CUPS 1.1.23, including a
greatly improved Web interface and "plug-and-print" support for many local
and network printers.

Database
Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: dao-zero is a tiny Java bean used to reduce the source of a
persistence tier based on Spring's iBatis support. The usual way to use
iBatis in Spring is to write code and invoke the iBatis API explicitly.
dao-zero invokes the iBatis API for the developer automatically, without
the need to write implementation code. It will implement DAO interfaces
automatically and invoke iBatis SQL mapped statements for you. You can use
it to replace your DAO bean class directly.

Changes: The documentation was updated. Chinese documentation is available
now. Test cases were appended. Two bugs were fixed.

[010] - DRBL 1.6.3-20 (Stable)
  by Steven (http://freshmeat.net/users/stevenshiau/)
  Mon, May 8th 2006 05:10

About: Diskless Remote Boot in Linux (DRBL) provides a diskless or
systemless environment for client machines. It works on Debian, Mandriva,
Red Hat, Fedora, and SuSE. Unlike LTSP, it uses distributed hardware
resources and makes it possible for clients to fully access local
hardware. It also includes Clonezilla, a partitioning and disk cloning
utility similar to Symantec Ghost.

Changes: This version is ready for Fedora Core 5, CentOS 4.3, and Debian
testing (Etch) (including the i386/amd64 arch). DRBL Single System Image
(SSI) mode was added. The necessary client configurations will be
dynamically created when it boots. This will reduce the disk space useed
on the server. In this model, every network card in the server with a
private IP can provide at most 253 DRBL clients. The Clonezilla box mode
was added, which is an extened model for DRBL SSI, especially for use in
clonezilla.

[013] - fastutil 5.0.2
  by Sebastiano Vigna (http://freshmeat.net/users/vigna/)
  Mon, May 8th 2006 15:14

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: fastutil extends the Java Collections Framework by providing
type-specific maps, sets, lists, and queues for Java with a small memory
footprint and fast access and insertion; it also includes a fast I/O API
for binary and text files. The classes implement their standard
counterpart interfaces (e.g., Map for maps) and can be plugged into
existing code. Besides the usual features, fastutil provides
reference-based containers (which do not use equals() to compare objects)
and linked structures. Most iterators provided by fastutil classes are
bidirectional, or even implement the standard list iterator interface.

Changes: This release fixes a major bug causing stack overflows in certain
maps. Now BinIO and TextIO load and store boolean arrays.

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Turn Based Strategy
Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: Imperium Galactica is a Solar Realms Elite clone. In it, you rule a
solar empire. The goal is to become and remain the most powerful empire.
You can gain strength by buying forces, and you can gain size by
colonizing planets. You start with some planets, and a little bit of
money. You are required to feed your people and army, and to pay to
maintain your planets and army. If you fail to do these things, disastrous
results may occur. You are given several turns of protection, during which
you cannot attack or be attacked, and cannot perform covert operations.
This provides a way for smaller empires to build up their defenses and
planets before they enter the real world.

Changes: Carrier-related bugs have been fixed. The values have been
tweaked to make inflation a real problem for big empires. The food
consumption of civilians has been lowered by 33%. Now you have 20% chance
of getting the enemy empire leader assassinated while invading if the
enemy empire is under coup. When attacking a weak empire (less than 1/3 of
your net worth), your population get ashamed by your actions, generating
civil disorder.

About: liboping is a C library for measuring network latency using ICMP
echo requests. It can send to and receive packets from multiple hosts in
parallel, which is nice for monitoring applications. Both IPv4 and IPv6
are supported transparently for the programmer and user. A program called
oping is included to show the simplicity and potential of the library and
provide the functionality at the command line.

Changes: The library has previously been developed as a convenience
library for another project. It is therefore quite mature and stable, but
the interface is not yet frozen. Error handling has been improved and the
oping binary has been completed.

[031] - Linux Replicated High Availability Manager 1.0.10
  by Simon Edwards (http://freshmeat.net/users/bongo44/)
  Mon, May 8th 2006 04:34

System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks

About: The Linux Replicated High Availability Manager (Linuxha.net) allows
the creation of clusters for application high availability through data
replication. Currently, clusters are limited to two nodes, but multiple
applications can be hosted and failed-over between the nodes. The software
uses DRBD to provide the data replication facillity.

Changes: Linuxha.net now includes version 0.7.18 of DRBD for compatibility
with the latest distributions (and thus has been used successfully on
Fedora Core 5, for example). This version also includes improvements when
adding and removing complete volume groups from an existing application.
Support forums (forums.linuxha.net) have also been kindly provided by a

Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: LiteSpeed Web Server is a high-performance, secure, easy-to-use,
and Apache interchangeable Web server. It supports HTTP/1.1, SSL, CGI,
FastCGI, PHP, JSP, Servlets, GZIP compression, chroot, IP level
throttling, connection accounting, DoS attack prevention, and instant

included for administration and configuration. It can be used as a content
accelerator, compression proxy, or a security guard running in front of any
Web and application server.

Changes: A bug that could cause header corruption in LSAPI has been fixed.
A bug in CGI parameter handling that could cause a core dump has been
fixed. The Awstats (add-on) scheduler will no longer update on every
server restart. An option to start external applications at server
start-up instead of on-demand (default) has been added. An option to log
CPanel-compatible bandwidth usage has been added.

[033] - LoFiMo 1.0.9
  by anzac (http://freshmeat.net/users/anzac/)
  Mon, May 8th 2006 13:15

Internet :: Log Analysis
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
System :: Diagnostics

About: The main purpose of LoFiMo is, as the name states, to monitor log
files. It does this in real time, i.e. shows the contents of log files as
they are changing. The user can connect to LoFiMo with a Web browser or
use the console for plain text output. When using a Web browser, the
output can be formatted with cascading stylesheets, which the user can
define. Thus, it is possible to highlight certain log entries with
different colors and fonts. It is also possible to play sounds or execute
commands (send an email, play sound with a custom player, etc.) when a log
entry matches a filter. LoFiMo can parse Apache style log files and syslog
style log files. Among others, there are filters that can parse iptables
logs and merge multiple log lines of Postfix into a single one.

Changes: This release adds a new filter the String Replace Filter with
which it is possible to replace substrings of log entries. The replacement
can be based upon regular expressions.

Security
Security :: Cryptography
System :: Networking

About: strongSwan is a complete IPsec and IKEv1 implementation for Linux
2.4 and 2.6 kernels. It interoperates with most other IPsec-based VPN
products. It is a descendant of the discontinued FreeS/WAN project. The
focus of the strongSwan project is on strong authentication mechanisms
using X.509 public key certificates and optional secure storage of private
keys on smartcards through a standardized PKCS#11 interface. A unique
feature is the use of X.509 attribute certificates to implement advanced
access control schemes based on group memberships.

Changes: This version supports both the existing IKEv1 (RFC 2409) as well
as the new IKEv2 (RFC 4306) Internet Key Exchange protocols. In the
ipsec.conf configuration file, IKEv2 connections are designated by the
parameter keyexchange=ikev2, whereas the default keyexchange=ike or
keyexchange=ikev1 will handle an IKEv1 connection. Currently, RSA
authentication based on locally loaded X.509 certificates is supported.
