[002] - AcpiTool 0.4.5
by DLeemans (http://freshmeat.net/users/dleemans/)
Sun, May 14th 2006 12:03
System
System :: Systems Administration
About: AcpiTool is a Linux ACPI client. It's a small command line
application, intended to be a replacement for the apm tool. The primary
target audience are laptop users, since these people are most interested
in things like battery status, thermal status and the ability to suspend
(sleep mode). The program simply accesses the /proc/acpi or /sysfs entries
to get or set ACPI values. A computer running a Linux kernel from the 2.4.x
or 2.6.x series with ACPI enabled is needed. It also supports various
extensions for Toshiba, Asus, and IBM Thinkpad laptops.
Changes: This release fixes the output of Bogomips (again) for AMD-64 CPUs
(at least the 3500+). Cache size information has been added. A bug
causing acpitool to enter an infinite loop when trying to display c- state
usage for AMD-64 3500+ CPUs has been fixed.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: jDTAUS is a Java implementation of the German DTAUS file format as
specified by Zentraler Kreditausschuss. It implements the DTAUS
specification version 2.0 (dated November 2005). The API was written with
mass-data support in mind and provides all possible kinds of operations on
a DTAUS file. Performance or memory critical sections of the code can be
hand-tuned via a property file without rebuilding the code. The API is
based on an abstraction layer for I/O operations, so implementations can
be adopted to other persistence mechanisms.

[050] - Ragel State Machine Compiler 5.7
by Adrian Thurston (http://freshmeat.net/users/age/)
Sun, May 14th 2006 20:37
Software Development :: Code Generators
About: Ragel compiles finite state machines from regular languages into C,
C++, Objective-C, or D code. It allows the programmer to embed actions at
any point in a regular language and to control non-determinism in the
resulting machines. It understands concatenation, union, kleene star,
subtraction, intersection, epsilon transitions, and various other common
operators. Through the use of labels and epsilon transitions, Ragel
supports the building of state machines using a named state and associated
transition list paradigm. Its finite state machines are closed under all of
its operators. This property allows for arbitrary regular languages to be
described. It can be used to create a parser for any language that is
regular.
Changes: Support for case-insensitive strings was added. A new syntax was
introduced for specifying conditions (which are still experimental).
Condition testing was implemented in all code generators. Bugfixes were
made.

put commentary into the Commentary and UserComment tags. Personal details
can be specified via XMP tags defined in a configuration file.
Changes: Aggregation was implemented (moving files to directories
according date/time patterns).Dynamic counter size (in decimal digits) was

Games/Entertainment :: Real Time Strategy
About: Tremulous is a computer game that blends a team-based first-person
shooter with elements of realtime strategy. The objective of the game is
to annihilate the opposing team. This is achieved by eliminating the
opposing players and removing their ability to respawn by destroying their
spawn structures.
Changes: This is the first release of the stand-alone version of Tremulous
that no longer requires a copy of Quake 3 in order to run.

[066] - UFRaw 0.8.1
by Udi Fuchs (http://freshmeat.net/users/udifuchs/)
Sun, May 14th 2006 00:26
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Graphics Conversion
About: UFRaw is a utility for converting and manipulating raw images from
digital cameras. It can be used as a stand-alone tool or as a Gimp plugin,
and images can be batch processed using the commandline interface. UFRaw
reads most existing raw formats using Dave Coffin's raw conversion utility
DCRaw, and it supports basic color management using Little CMS, allowing
the user to apply color profiles. For Nikon users, UFRaw has the advantage
that it can read the camera's tone curves. Even if you don't own a Nikon,
you can still apply a Nikon curve to your images.
Changes: This release fixes a crash in the Gimp plug-in which occurred
when trying to use half-interpolation and a possible crash in
auto-exposure when extreme values are calculated.

[068] - VRaptor 2.0.2
by Guilherme Silveira (http://freshmeat.net/users/TechnoBug/)
Sun, May 14th 2006 16:33
Software Development
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: VRaptor 2 is a Web-based MVC and IOC framework based on many
frameworks and ideas (Seam, Stripes, Webwork, Hibernate Annotations, etc).
It makes full use of Java 5 Annotations. It favors convention over
configuration, because configuration in XML/properties/annotations is
always easy to make mistakes and repetitive (aka copy and paste in many
places). This framework uses a more imperative approach, instead of having
many XML files to configure lifecycle and other properties. Most of the
settings go inside plain Java objects (POJO), so the team knows exactly
what is going on and where.
Changes: This release has a lot of bugfixes and a new complete example
application, showing off almost every feature including integration with
Hibernate 3.1.

[069] - Web Form Factory 0.1.2
by joel (http://freshmeat.net/users/joelwan/)
Sun, May 14th 2006 04:12
Database :: Front-Ends
Software Development :: Code Generators
About: WFF is a simple application that binds HTML forms to a database. It
analyzes the HTML file you supply and identifies all the common input types
it contains, including text fields, drop down lists, checkboxes, radio
buttons, and text areas. Once all the input types have been detected, it
then performs some validation tests that ensures that enough information
is contained within the HTML form to allow the program to bind the inputs
properly. It then generates the required backend PHP code and returns the
form back to the you in a zip file.
Changes: Various bugs were fixed. An email sink was added to WFF. WFF is
now able to generate email forms as well as database forms. The results
page was redesigned and improved.

About: Wine is an implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix.
It does not require Microsoft Windows, but can use native Windows DLLs if
they are available. It provides both a development toolkit for porting
Windows source code to Unix as well as a program loader, allowing many
unmodified Windows programs to run on x86-based Unixes.
Changes: A new GPhoto backend for TWAIN was added. Dynamic drive
configuration is done using HAL. Very many Direct3D fixes were made. A new
TCP transport was added for RPC. Lots of bugs were fixed.

by Dan Graham (http://freshmeat.net/users/dgraham/)

Information Management
Office/Business :: Scheduling
About: wxRemind is a wxPython-based front-end for Remind, a powerful
calendar and alarm application. Similar to the curses-based Wyrd, the
display features a calendar and daily event list suitable for visualizing
your schedule at a glance. Dates and associated events can be quickly
selected either with the mouse or cursor keys, and dates in the calendar
are color coded to reflect the total duration of scheduled events.
wxRemind integrates with an external editor of your choice to make editing
of reminder files more efficient, provides hotkeys to quickly access the
most common Remind options, and allows popup, sound, and/or spoken alarms.
Changes: INSTALL has been converted to a Python script. Better dependency
checks and a more user-friendly location choice for symbolic links. Does
not require root permissions, leaves the python tree untouched, and
should work on all platforms since the package files are located in a
subdirectory of the directory containing the scripts. User-specific
customizations can now be set in ~/.wxremindrc.

[072] - xBaK 0.0.7
by Guido (http://freshmeat.net/users/guidoj/)
Sun, May 14th 2006 12:09
Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing
About: xBaK is a fan-made remake of the classic Sierra computer RPG
"Betrayal at Krondor". xBaK is a game engine that uses the data files that
came with the original game by Sierra Online. You must already have your
own copy, since the required data files are not distributed with xBaK. A
playable game is not yet available. Several tools to examine the contents
of the data files are done. A small demo that shows the intro and the
startup option screen is available too.
Changes: This release makes it possible to start a new game, which will
show the chapter intro and the main game dialog. The game is still not
playable, though. A proper game state machine has been implemented. The
initial implementation of the main game dialog screen is done. Still more
work on the GUI, and more widgets. Timer events have been added. DDX files
can be loaded and partially interpreted. There are several bugfixes.

[075] - yruba 2.4
by Harald Kirsch (http://freshmeat.net/users/pifpafpuf/)
Sun, May 14th 2006 12:10
Software Development :: Build Tools
About: Yruba provides a rule system similar to make or ant for the shell
(bash). It provides a clear separation between a list of dependencies that
must be up-to-date before the current task can be performed, an explicit
test that checks whether the target is really out-of-date, and a command
that finally makes the target. Everything is plain bash syntax, so there
is no new command language to learn.
Changes: Version 2.3 contained bug that prevented mapTarget from working.
