[001] - /etc/net Scripts 0.8.3
  by Pilot (http://freshmeat.net/users/infrastation/)
  Mon, May 15th 2006 07:56

System :: Boot :: Init
System :: Networking
System :: Systems Administration

About: /etc/net represents a new approach to Linux network configuration
tasks. Inspired by the limitations of traditional configuration
subsystems, /etc/net provides builtin support for configuration profiles,
interface name management, removable device support, full iproute2 command
set support, interface dependency resolution, and a QoS configuration
framework. /etc/net provides support for the following interface types:
Ethernet, WiFi (WEP), IPv6/IPv6 tunnels, PSK IPSec tunnels, VLAN, PLIP,
Ethernet bonding and bridging, traffic equalizer, PentNET, usbnet, and
PPP. Due to its modular design, support for new interface types can be
added without overall design changes.

Changes: This release features bugfixes for VERBOSE and PROGRESS option
handling, for the custom "dev" keyword in route files, and for handling of
trailing spaces.

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Filters

About: clapf is a modular network filter for Postfix. It includes a
statistical (inverse chi-square) antispam module, the blackhole feature,
antivirus support (clamav, AVG Linux, avast!, Kaspersky, and Dr. Web), and
CGI and command-line interfaces for easily training the token database.
Users may manage their own spam quarantine. SURBL support is also
included.

Changes: By default, all tokens are lower cased, so your tokens.cdb file
should be recreated. Passmail is able to move spam into a personal
quarantine, your junk folder, or it can silently discard it. Handling of
tokens in the subject line was improved. The antivirus docs were merged
into one HTML file. Invalid characters can be replaced with
JUNK_REPLACEMENT_CHAR to see them correctly on the terminal. A minor bug
in the configure script was fixed.

Internet :: Log Analysis
Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers

About: HTTPManifold is an application for funnelling Web/HTTP traffic for
multiple servers through a single IP address (a reverse proxy). It is
intended for home users and small businesses so that they can host
multiple domains and sub-domains through a single IP address on port 80.
HTTPManifold forwards traffic to other machines, logs requests, and
rewrites content during the process. It can also log the raw content of
requests for the purpose of debugging Web services, etc. It provides a Web
interface for configuration and log viewing with some log analysis
capabilities.

Changes: This initial release is a light-weight Web server with revserse
proxy functionality and offers simple configuration. It can log raw HTTP
requests and responses. It will rewrite HTTP headers and body. It can
stand in front of a more primitive Web server and offer additional
features. For example, if the destination server doesn't handle the HEAD
command, HTTManifold can translate it into a GET for the internal request.
It can bridge protocols to allow content to be monitored for debugging
purposes. It can log forwarded traffic into separate files.

About: nedmalloc is an alternative malloc implementation for multiple
threads without lock contention based on dlmalloc 2.8.3. It is more or
less a newer implementation of ptmalloc2, the standard allocator in Linux
(which is based on dlmalloc 2.7.0) but also contains a per-thread cache
for maximum CPU scalability.

Changes: This release integrates dlmalloc v2.8.4, fixing the Win32 memory

[040] - Network PDF Server YAFPC-Appliance 0.99LPD
  by Wolfgang Ullrich (http://freshmeat.net/users/ullrich/)
  Mon, May 15th 2006 08:08

About: YAFPC-Appliance is a CD-ROM image based on KNOPPIX technology and
the PDF composer/printer/mailer YAFPC. Any PC booted from this CD can act
as a PDF print server and provide an unlimited number of network shared
virtual PDF printers. The system requirements are low. System
configuration can be done via a Web browser from any workstation in your
network. Virtual shared printers can be configured to apply letterheads,
watermarks, and appendices to all printed documents. After printing, a
document is sent to its owner by email, or can be accessed in a shared
folder on the server. Deployment is very simple.

Changes: In addition to the Point&Print feature for Windows clients, the
TCP/IP (LPD) printing on port 515 is now possible from Windows, Linux, and
MacOS clients. When using TCP/IP printing, users can now apply their own
PostScript printer drivers to the virtual PDF printers. A step-by-step
instruction for the driver installation procedure on client machines was
added to the manual.

[053] - Simple persistence for Java 1.3.2
  by Robert (http://freshmeat.net/users/demonofthesystem/)
  Mon, May 15th 2006 08:02

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Simple persistence for Java is an object/relation mapping framework
for Java. It is designed to be easy to use. There are no XML files to
write, no tables to create, no IDs to generate, and no primary keys to
fiddle with; just point it to the database, check the API documentation
for three basic methods, and code away. It supports transactions,
polymorphism, has its own simple query language (very similar to SQL), and
can handle object references, lists, and maps.

Changes: The "ilike" operator (case insensitive "like") was added to the
query language, and it behaves exactly the same on each supported
database. The "now" keyword was added, which produces the current
date/time in a query. A bug was fixed which did not let polymorphic
queries contain attributes of the superclasses in the where condition.

System :: Networking :: Monitoring
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: Streamline is a stream-based networking subsystem for Linux that
spans from hardware to userspace to offer high-speed communication paths
tailored to individual applications. It transparently supports specialized

[062] - Ultimate++ 605-rc2 (Development)

Software Development
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Debuggers

About: Ultimate++ is a cross-platform C++ rapid application development
suite. It includes set of libraries (for things like GUI and SQL) and an
integrated development environment. Rapid development is achieved by smart
and aggressive use of C++ rather than through fancy code generators. In
this respect, U++ competes with popular scripting languages while
preserving C/C++ runtime characteristics. Its integrated development
environment, TheIDE, introduces modular conception to C++ programming, and
can be used to develop non-U++ applications.
