[001] - Big Faceless Graph Library 2.2.1
by BFO (Big Faceless Organization)
(http://freshmeat.net/users/faceless/)
Thu, May 18th 2006 02:31
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation
Software Development :: Libraries
About: The Big Faceless Graph Library is a Java class library for creating
graphs and charts. It is backed by a full 3D engine, allowing you to create
shaded 3D pie, bar, and line graphs as GIF, PDF, PNG, or other image
formats. Its features include transparent backgrounds, extensible axes to
graph dates, currencies, custom fonts, and spline curve fitting. It is
small, fast, and easy to use.
Changes: It is now possible to specify colors in XML graphs using the CSS3
syntax: rgb(), rgba(), hsl(), and hsla(). Graphs are now scaled correctly
when one or all axes is a Gap or Log axis. setTimeZone was added to
DateAxis and can be specified in the XML, eg. "date(dd-MMM-yyyy, UTC)",
The rendering of area graphs when min value > 0 was corrected. The drawing
of line series when there are no data points (only markers) was fixed. The
Tag Library interface now plays nicely when interleaved with other tag
libraries (eg JSTL).

About: The Big Faceless PDF Library is a Java class library for creating
PDF documents. The Extended Edition offers the ability to create and edit
AcroForms, PDF's answer to the HTML form. Like HTML forms, PDF forms can
contain text boxes, radio buttons, and can call JavaScript functions. The
Extended Edition also includes a PDF reader for importing and editing,
along with FDF support, verification for digital signatures and text
extraction. Both variations offer full Unicode support, encryption,
embedded TrueType and Type1 fonts, barcodes, hyperlinks, spot and
calibrated color.
Changes: An obscure problem that occurred when creating canvases from a
page containing flattened form fields was fixed. Flags for some
StandardCJKFonts that were causing incorrect font substitution in Acrobat
were fixed. An issue where the down appearance on buttons wasn't preserved
if the button wasn't beveled was fixed. Slight improvements were made to
memory and speed when rendering PDF to a bitmap. Some unnecessary work
done to each page when reading and writing documents was removed,
resulting in a PDF that is slightly closer to the original file structure.
This was necessary for a particularly obscure bug with a sample PDF.

[003] - BusyBox 1.1.3
by Michael Opdenacker (http://freshmeat.net/users/michaelo/)
Thu, May 18th 2006 00:17
Software Development :: Embedded Systems
System :: Boot :: Init
About: BusyBox combines tiny versions of many common UNIX utilities into a
single small executable. It provides minimalist replacements for most of
the utilities you usually find in GNU fileutils, shellutils, etc. The
utilities in BusyBox generally have fewer options than their full-featured
GNU cousins; however, the options that are included provide the expected
functionality and behave very much like their GNU counterparts. BusyBox
provides a fairly complete POSIX environment for any small or embedded
system.
Changes: This release makes passwd use salts, fixes a memory freeing bug
in ls, fixes the "build all sources at once" mode, makes mount -a not
abort on the first failure, fixes msh so Ctrl-c doesn't kill background
processes, makes patch work with patch hunks that don't have a timestamp,
make less' text search a lot more robust (the old one could segfault), and
fixes readlink -f when built against uClibc.

Games/Entertainment
About: ckmame is a program to check ROM sets for MAME, the Multiple Arcade
Machine Emulator. It tells you which ROM files are missing or have an
incorrect checksum, and can delete unknown and unused files from the ROM
sets, and rename or move ROM files.
Changes: ckmame can now account for files kept elsewhere (e.g. stored on
DVD) and remove them from the ROM set being checked. mkmamedb can create a
database from multiple dat files (remembering which game is in which dat
file), and omit games matching shell glob patterns. Zip archives and disk
images are not read in multiple times, which speeds up integrity checking
enormously, and a new option has been added to remove all unneeded files
from extra directories. Unknown files are stored in the directory
"unknown", not in "garbage" inside the ROM path, to keep the ROM
directories clean.

ZP hints for BBR and BBS
instructions. A bug that was causing a crash in the cheat interface when
trying to list cheats under Win32 has been fixed. A bug in the settings
loading code that forced the user to resort to manual creation of
~/.mednafen/mednafen.cfg on some operating systems (*BSD and OS/X) has
been fixed. Silent sound will now be output when in step mode in the
debugger. A strtod() replacement has been added that recognizes both "."
and "," as valid radix characters, regardless of the current locale.

[034] - NetXMS 0.2.11
by Alex Kirhenshtein (http://freshmeat.net/users/rauxer/)
Thu, May 18th 2006 12:01
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration
About: NetXMS is a monitoring system with a modular architecture. It can
be used for monitoring an entire IT infrastructure, starting with
SNMP-capable hardware (like switches and routers) and ending with
applications on servers. The system has a three-tier architecture; the
information is collected by monitoring agents (either its own agents or
SNMP agents) and delivered to the monitoring server for processing and
storing, where it can be accessed by using the management console. It
features centralized configuration and centralized agent upgrades.
Changes: Basic network maps were implemented. Non-standard (other than
4701) ports can now be used for client-server communications. Saved
desktop configurations can be copied/moved between users, or deleted. SNMP
walk functions were improved. A "User must change password on next login"
function was implemented. UPS subagent: support for the BSMXCP protocol
(used by Powerware, HP, and Compaq UPSes) was added. An Alarm Viewer crash
was fixed. Solaris support was improved. Issues #28, #34, #52, #82, #83,
#84, #85, #86, #87, and #88 were fixed.

[035] - OPAL 0.4.0
by Olex (http://freshmeat.net/users/Olexander/)
Thu, May 18th 2006 11:59
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
Software Development :: Libraries
About: OPAL (Open Physics Abstraction Layer) has two main goals: to
provide a high-level physics interface, and to provide an abstract
interface that is independent of the underlying physics engines. Although
some similar libraries focus mainly on the second goal, OPAL is more
focused on the high-level physics interface. Even though the abstract
interface is important for comparing physics engines or using multiple
physics engines in the same application, the primary concern is giving
developers a simple, powerful interface with high-level constructs.
Changes: Many bugfixes, unit tests, and enhancements. New features:
handling a large number of object updates, a new motor, better joint
damage monitoring, and enhanced event handling. The project has been
migrated to Subversion.
