[002] - And-httpd 0.99.8
  by Nevyn (http://freshmeat.net/users/nevyn/)
  Fri, Jun 2nd 2006 04:29

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers

About: And-httpd is an HTTP server that maps URLs to files. In other
words, in can take an incoming URL and map it to a file in a number of
ways (for example, according to content type or language). It can also do
authentication or IP based ACLs. It cannot do CGI or other kinds of code
execution. It cannot even dynamically create directory listings (although
it comes with external tools to do so automatically, and to create a
"status page"). It currently has a $2000 "security guarantee" against
remote attacks.

Changes: Cleanups were made for 64-bit architectures, the status page for
non-running servers, numbers in configuration files, chroot, logging
scripts, and hostname parsing. An index page was added. Fixes were made
for static builds and uLibc builds. A possible XSS on redirects in HTML
interpreters is no longer allowed.

  Fri, Jun 2nd 2006 13:23

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Conversion

About: AudioMove is a handy GUI-based batch audio file converter/copier
program. It can convert various audio file formats to WAV or AIFF format
(using libsndfile), and do high-quality sample-rate conversion at the same
time (using libsamplerate). It is multi-threaded for maximum throughput,
can handle thousands of files per batch, and does recursive directory
scans.

Changes: This version adds some nice touches to the file requesters, such
as remembering the last 5 files you chose, and user-assignable hot-buttons
for quickly getting to commonly used folders. It also updates the included
muscle and libsndfile distributions to the latest versions.

[016] - Control Library 0.1.2
  by Calin Culianu (http://freshmeat.net/users/cculianu/)
  Fri, Jun 2nd 2006 11:03

Scientific/Engineering
Software Development :: Libraries

About: Control Library is a small C++ library for writing control
applications. It can be compiled for either generic Unix userspace or for
kernelspace under RTLinux 3.2. It frees a programmer from having to write
control applications in low-level C code under RTLinux, while allowing the
control code to be tested in userspace before running it in kernelspace
under RTLinux.

Changes: This release fixes a compile-time bug in PID control. It compiles
for RTLinux kernel mode. A Deque class has been added, which is useful for
emulating std::deque in a real-time context. A bug in PID control has been
fixed: the integral portion now works correctly. A missing
Thread::running() function that caused compile problems has been fixed.

Games/Entertainment :: Multi-User Dungeons (MUD)
Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing

About: Crossfire+ is a friendly fork of the crossfire multi-user RPG game.
Unlike the original project, it focuses mainly on stability and
playability, while also adding more maps and better scriptability and
graphics.

Changes: This release adds (Linux-specific) fast timeout code that kicks
players out when the client doesn't ack data after 20 seconds. This makes
it possible to quickly re-login after a "catastrophic" even such as losing
your Internet connection. Also, player-stealing between hostile players is
now possible. The scorn bank has been upgraded with a new script that
accepts any currency, including the new "royalties", and was extended with
better converters and a quest. Some undo bugs were fixed in GCE (the
editor), along with a context menu for adding stuff to the inventory to
monsters on the map.

About: jBCrypt is a Java implementation of OpenBSD's Blowfish password
hashing code, as described in "A Future-Adaptable Password Scheme" by
Niels Provos and David Mazières. This system hashes passwords using a
version of Bruce Schneier's Blowfish block cipher, with modifications
designed to raise the cost of off-line password cracking and frustrate
fast hardware implementation. The computation cost of the algorithm is
parametised, so it can be increased as computers get faster. The intent is
to make a compromise of a password database less likely to result in an
attacker gaining knowledge of the plaintext passwords.

  Fri, Jun 2nd 2006 13:28

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio

About: polypaudio is a sound server for Linux and other Unix-like
operating systems. It is intended to be an improved drop-in replacement

Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Restlet is a framework that brings the simplicity and efficiency of
the REST architectural style to Java developers. It is composed of two
parts, the Restlet API (alternative to Servlet API) and a reference
implementation (Noelios Restlet Engine). It supports all REST concepts
(resource, representation, data, connector, components, etc.) and is
suitable for both client and server REST applications. The server
connectors provided are HTTP(S), AJP (via Mortbay's Jetty or an adapter
Servlet) and the client connectors are HTTP(S), JDBC, and SMTP(S).

Changes: This release adds constructors to DefaultServer using the
protocol's default port, more unit tests, and urlEncode() on Parameter,
adjusts build.properties so that default values work directly, fixes a bug
in the Jetty 5 HTTPS connector, and refactors the usage of parameter lists
by using a new ParameterList. Reference now sets new scheme names in
lowercase to respect normalization rules.

About: Zenity is a tool that allows you to display Gtk+ dialog boxes from
the command line and through shell scripts. It is similar to gdialog, but
is intended to be saner. It comes from the same family as dialog, Xdialog,
and cdialog, but it surpasses those projects by having a cooler name.
