[001] - Arena Scripting Language 0.9.1
  by Pascal Schmidt (http://freshmeat.net/users/cobol/)
  Sat, Jun 3rd 2006 13:45

Software Development :: Interpreters

About: Arena is a light-weight scripting language that features a C-like
syntax and library, automatic memory management, and runtime polymorphism.

Changes: This release fixes a bug in the handling of the "continue"
statement and a possible double free problem in the "for" statement.

[002] - AVR-Ada 0.4.1
  by Bernd Trog (http://freshmeat.net/users/berndtrog/)
  Sat, Jun 3rd 2006 13:58

Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Embedded Systems
System :: Hardware

About: AVR-Ada aims to make the Ada part of gcc usable on AVR
microcontrollers. This includes the three elements: the Ada compiler, the
Ada run time system, and the AVR support library. Some sample programs are
provided as well.

Changes: The linker (avr-ld) of the binary packages now generates correct
code for avr5 (16k-128K flash memory) targets when called with the --relax
switch (default). Building static libraries with avr-gnatmake no longer
requires a host "gcc" in the search path. Limited support was added for
ATmega2560 and ATmega2561 (beta). mk_ada_app.sh now works independent of
the working directory, and is part of the binary packages. The
Linux/Windows binaries are now based on gcc-4.1.1, avr-libc-1.4.4, and
binutils-2.17.50, and were configured for Ada, C, and C++.

originally designed for education, it has a broad range of uses in a
variety of different settings.

Changes: The codebase was significantly refactored, including a data

[010] - ExactImage 0.0.13
  by René Rebe (http://freshmeat.net/users/ReneRebe/)
  Sat, Jun 3rd 2006 04:06

Multimedia :: Graphics

About: ExactImage is a fast C++ image processing library. Unlike
ImageMagick, it allows operation in several color spaces and bit depths
natively, resulting in much lower memory and computational requirements.
Some optimized algorithms operate in 1/20 of the time ImageMagick
requires, and displaying large images can be as fast as 1/10 of the time
the "display" program takes.

Changes: Loading transparent PNG files with a background color has been
fixed to not utilize this color. A default gamma curve is now applied to
16bit linear digital camera RAW files. More colorspace conversions have
been added, The JPEG writer no longer marks data with unknown resolution
as 0x0" (since some other commercial software does not like this). A
rudimentary edentify commandline frontend has been added to identify image
files.

System :: Networking

About: The PPPOE with Bandwidth Management for OpenBSD Howto is a document
which explains how to build an OpenBSD based router for a small

the residents, it should be possible to use incoming ports for services
like Skype or Emule. The howto basically addresses IT professionals with a
rough idea of what OpenBSD is about.

Changes: The howto was updated for OpenBSD 3.8 to 3.9. The pf ruleset
structure was optimized with several macros. Minor typos in the OpenBSD
install instructions were fixed.

Communications :: Chat
Communications :: Chat :: AOL Instant Messenger
Communications :: Chat :: ICQ

About: Kopete is a flexible and extendable multiple protocol instant
messaging system designed as a plugin-based system. All protocols are
plugins and allow modular installation, configuration, and usage without
the main application knowing anything about the plugin being loaded. The
goal of Kopete is to provide users with a standard and easy to use
interface between all of their instant messaging systems, but at the same
time also providing developers with the ease of writing plugins to support
a new protocol. The core Kopete development team provides a handful of
plugins that most users can use, in addition to templates for new
developers to base a plugin on.

Changes: Support for Adium-style chat window themes was added. Get Hot New
Stuff was reactivated. Status messages are no longer tied to the online
status. Jabber now has better support for the JEP-0030, JEP-0038,

[030] - Photo Organizer 2.30 (Stable)
  by Solomon Peachy (http://freshmeat.net/users/ShaftNet/)
  Sat, Jun 3rd 2006 14:04

Information Management :: Records Management
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers

About: Photo Organizer is multi-user photo management tool that was
designed for professional photographers. It offers a searchable photo
database that supports photo version control, client management, photo
submission history, EXIF, IPTC, XML, and XMP, user quotas, a datebook, and
printing labels and color brochures in PDF and PS formats. It uses
PostgreSQL, features a Web interface, and uses ImageMagick and DCRAW to
handle over a hundred image formats including several RAW formats.

Changes: This is the first release under new maintainership, so the intent
behind this release is to make as few drastic changes as possible. There
are many bugfixes and enhancements to the image import code and further
enhancements for keyword searches.

[031] - PHPGallue 0.3-RC3
  by uellue (http://freshmeat.net/users/uellue/)
  Sat, Jun 3rd 2006 21:51

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Graphics Conversion

About: PHPGallue is a multi-user, server-oriented image management system
with a Web frontend. PHPGallue is suited for photographers to organize and
publish their work. It allows the user to mark images, groups, categories,
films, and series as private or as only visible to registered users. It is
designed especially for large numbers of images. The Web frontend and
backend libraries are completely separated, so it is easy to integrate
PHPGallue as a management system into existing Web applications.

Changes: This release fixes a security issue by changing some HTTP headers
that forbid caching of restricted information. Previous versions
incorrectly allowed caching of image data that had "protected" visibility.
This release also includes several CSS bugfixes, especially for Internet
Explorer. Updating an existing installation is strongly recommended.

[034] - Protothreads 1.3

Software Development :: Libraries

About: Protothreads are a type of extremely lightweight, stackless threads
written in 100% portable C. While protothreads were originally designed for
severely memory-constrained systems such as deeply embedded systems, they
have found a number of uses as a general purpose portable library as well.

Changes: It is now possible to determine if a protothread is waiting, or
has yielded, exited, or ended by looking at the return value of a
protothread function.

[035] - PyKota Print Quota System 1.24HotFix3
  by Jerome Alet (http://freshmeat.net/users/jalet/)
  Sat, Jun 3rd 2006 13:44

Office/Business :: Financial :: Accounting
Printing
System

About: PyKota is a full featured, internationalized, centralized, and
extensible print quota system for CUPS. It supports PostgreSQL, OpenLDAP,
MySQL, or SQLite as the quota database backend. This software features
most of what you might expect from a modern print quota and accounting
solution. Its flexibility and configurability greatly eases its
integration into your own computing environment.

Changes: Many fixes were made to accommodate MySQL "features". A locking
mechanism has been introduced to allow several print servers to access the
same device without mixing print jobs and banners. More environment
variables are now accessible to the print administrators' own scripts. The
pkipplib library is now used to directly interact with the print server.
