Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Office/Business

About: Adempiere is an ERP bazaar for open source developers that combines
improvements from Compiere, CRM, shopfloor, POS, helpdesk, financial
accounting, supply chain, knowledge, and business applications in an open
and unabated fashion. Its focus is on the community.

Changes: This release is equivalent to Compiere 253d.

[002] - AScopy 1.0.0
  by Niels (http://freshmeat.net/users/nheirbaut/)
  Sun, Dec 3rd 2006 13:06

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: AScopy is a site maintenance utility. Its main purpose is to be
portable and usable across any platform that has a working Bash shell and
SSH.

Changes: This is the first (feature) stable version. There are two major
additions to this version. The XML documentation has been dropped, so the
only documentation available is the manpage. AScopy now recognizes when a
file has been moved or copied and it will not try to transfer that file
over the network but just copy or move the file locally. A move will show
up on AScopy's output as a copy and a delete.

System :: Filesystems

About: ASFS is a filesystem driver for the Linux kernel that adds support
for the Amiga SmartFileSystem. It supports both read and write, however,
write support is in an early beta stage.

Changes: The code was updated to match changes in the VFS of Linux kernel
2.6.19.

[004] - AsterFax 1.1 beta 3
  by Brett Sutton (http://freshmeat.net/users/bsutton/)
  Sun, Dec 3rd 2006 06:14

About: AsterFax provides an email to fax gateway for Asterisk. It lets you
send an email by fax: enter the phone number in the 'To' field, compose
your email message, and click send. You can also fax attachments, as well
as directly from Word and OpenOffice.

Changes: This release includes an enhancement that allows the header and
footer to vary with the destination fax number. A different company name
and header and footer format can be used for each destination fax number.
It also adds a new ReturnFaxNumber property, which is included in the
header and footer with a %R parameter. There is no need to change any
configuration files to use beta 3, but AsterFax.xml must be modified
according to the release notes to make use of the feature.

[005] - AudioSlicer 1.1

  Sun, Dec 3rd 2006 11:46

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Analysis
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Editors

About: AudioSlicer is a Cocoa GUI application that finds all silences in
an audio file and allows you to split it into several smaller audio files
and to name/tag them properly. While most other tools split automatically
according to certain criteria, AudioSlicer shows you all silences within a
certain range of duration. You can then listen and decide whether you want
to split there. The splitting is done without loss; there is no decoding
and re-encoding of audio data.

Changes: A Universal binary is available, which works now on Intel Macs.
The silence analyzer was recoded to run optimally multi-threaded on
multi-core machines. The build process of the required libraries was
reengineered to happen automatically in xcode. A link was added to open
the new manual from the help menu. taglib is now used instead of id3lib
for Unicode support. Several minor bugs were fixed.

[007] - Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer 0.7
  by Scarfy (http://freshmeat.net/users/Scarfy/)
  Sun, Dec 3rd 2006 06:25

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade

About: Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer is a 3rd person action shooter. With
the apparent defeat of Galdov and the reclaiming of the Fire, Time, Space,
and Reality Crystals, the Blobs' battle was only just beginning. Bob had
rescued many Blobs and fought many battles, but now he had an ever bigger
task ahead of him. The Blobs' homeworld is still littered with the alien
forces and Bob once again makes it his task to lead the counter attack.
But even without Galdov the aliens are still extremely well organised.

Changes: A new enemy, the Spider Blob, was added. Sentry gun 3d models
have been updated. Mission #3 has been fixed and can now be finished.
Separate locale packages have now been merged with the main release. Bob
is now wearing his bandanna.

  Sun, Dec 3rd 2006 23:16

Scientific/Engineering
Scientific/Engineering :: Bioinformatics
Scientific/Engineering :: Medical Science Apps.

About: Blossoc is a linkage disequilibrium association mapping tool that
attempts to build (perfect) genealogies for each site in the input, score
these according to non-random clustering of affected individuals, and
judge high-scoring areas as likely candidates for containing disease
affecting variation. Building the local genealogy trees is based on a
number of heuristics that are not guaranteed to build true trees, but have
the advantage over more sophisticated methods of being extremely fast.
Blossoc can therefore handle much larger data sets than more sophisticated
tools, but at the cost of sacrificing some accuracy.

Changes: This version adds some algorithmic speedups to the permutation
testing.

[030] - JPasswordGenerator 1.0
  by jexifviewer (http://freshmeat.net/users/jexifviewer/)
  Sun, Dec 3rd 2006 14:04

Security
Utilities

About: JPasswordGenerator is a Java application for creating safe and
strong passwords from predefined character sets in a random way. For this,
a strong random number generator is used. JPasswordGenerator has six sets
of characters that can be individually enabled and edited. All the
characters from the enabled sets are put together in a character pool
(duplicate characters will not be removed). You can configure the range
for the length of the password. When you press the "Create" button, a
password will be created by choosing single characters in a random way
from the pool. A character is not removed if it was chosen, so double
characters can occur. The created password is displayed in the password
field box and copied in the system clipboard, so it's easy to paste it an
editor, email, and so on.

  Sun, Dec 3rd 2006 06:15

Communications :: File Sharing
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search

About: The MP3 Streaming DownSampler for PHP is written with cable
modem/DSL users with low upstream caps in mind. Using LAME, it dynamically
downsamples a requested MP3 to a bitrate which can be streamed. It doesn't
use temporary files, so you don't have to take the time to do any
batching, and you just give it a directory with symlinks to your music in
a place the Web server can reach. The interface is simplistic and fast,
meant for immediate plug and play access.

Changes: This is a maintenance and security release. Upgrading is highly
recommended if you are running 3.0 on a system where PHP is configured
with register_globals 'On'. Other changes include altered defaults for the
folder browser and some display tweaks.
