[002] - amforth 0.8
  by Matthias Trute (http://freshmeat.net/users/mtrute/)
  Thu, Dec 7th 2006 11:28

Software Development :: Embedded Systems

About: amforth is a distribution of Forth running on the AVR ATmega
microcontroller. Once put into flash, it needs only a serial connection to
the host computer. New words are compiled directly into flash, thus
extending the dictionary immediately. It is ans94 Forth oriented with some
minor exclusions and a few words from the extension word sets. It is
written in assembly language and Forth itself. The main development uses
ATmega8 and ATmega32 controllers; other ATmega controllers should work
with small adjustments.

Changes: Support for the create/does> word pair and user area variables
has been added. A bug in +loop for negative increments has been fixed, and
there are some internal changes.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: PHP_Application is a platform for the development of event-driven
applications in which two mechanisms of distribution of events for two
levels of abstraction accordingly are realized. The first level are
objects and their events; the second, the application and its events. The
mechanism of distribution of events of the applications supports
distribution of the directed and broadcasting events, and also provides
synchronous or asynchronous processing events. The structure of the
application represents a hierarchy of objects with various levels of
abstraction. Functionality of the application is completely defined by a
set of the objects included in the application and interaction between
them, i.e. a stream of events. The structure of the application allows you
to operate a stream of events extending downwards on hierarchy of objects.

Changes: Support for Aspect-Oriented programming has been added, the
rendering system has been refactored, many new classes hve been added,
there are new examples and the documentation, and many bugs have been
corrected.

it faster than the previous one (the vortex writer loop has been removed),
and vortex reader handling under many connections has been updated, showing
an upgrade from 39segs to 5segs for a test that creates 1000 connections
and then closes them.

[058] - xen-shell 0.6
  by Steve Kemp (http://freshmeat.net/users/skx/)
  Thu, Dec 7th 2006 11:23

About: xen-shell is a simple console program to allow a hosting company to
delegate control of Xen instances directly to their clients. The shell
allows a user to boot, shutdown, or reimage their own personal Xen guest
without giving the user general access to the Xen host system or allowing
the user to touch the instances of other users.

Changes: This release increases portability on non-Debian Xen systems, and
adds additional error checks in places that might fail.

[059] - xine xine-lib 1.1.3
  by Erik Hovland (http://freshmeat.net/users/microe/)
  Thu, Dec 7th 2006 15:17

Multimedia :: Video :: Display

About: xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and
VCDs. It also decodes multimedia files like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from
local disk drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet. It
interprets many of the most common multimedia formats available--and some
of the most uncommon formats, too. All those features come in a reusable
library (xine-lib) which can easily be embedded in your applications.

Changes: Two security issues, a heap overflow in libmms (related to
CVE-2006-2200) and a buffer overrun in the Real Media input plugin, have
been fixed. There are updates to the ALSA, Darwin, JACK, and PulseAudio
systems. There are various bugfixes.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: xSite generates static XHTML and CSS Web albums from image
directories, making use of JPEG/EXIF comments in the images instead of
external databases. It is not a photo management tool by itself, so must
use something else for tagging, editing, and organizing your images. The
project's goals are simplicity, ease of use, and standards compliance in
the output.

Changes: This initial release is fully functional.

[063] - ZDT 0.6.1
  by Chris Fong (http://freshmeat.net/users/bogleg20/)
  Thu, Dec 7th 2006 23:40

Education

About: The ZDT (Zhongwen Development Tool) is a program written to help
users study Mandarin Chinese. Users can create their own word lists and
quiz themselves using three different flashcard modes. There is also a
dictionary that can be used to search through the built in CEDICT (and
optional Adso) databases. Users can input Chinese characters and get the
associated pinyin and English definitions through the Annotation function.
This makes it convenient to read blocks of Chinese text. The program is
built on top of the Eclipse RCP platform, which allows it to be extendable
through its plugin architecture. It runs on Linux, OS X, and Windows
platforms.

Changes: An import bug with the "use definitions from database" option was
fixed. entries with more than one row selected can now be copied and
deleted. Supermemo export now exports required ID field.
