[008] - Dragon parser generator 1.2.5
  by lemke (http://freshmeat.net/users/lemke/)
  Sat, Dec 9th 2006 11:22

Software Development :: Code Generators

About: Dragon is a powerful parser generator. It produces a consequent,
object-oriented, integrated scanner and parser solution. It also scales
for very large grammar defintions. Since dragon parses LR(1) grammars, the
generation algorithm is quite CPU intensive. Using LR(1) instead of LALR
decreases efficiency of the parser, but avoids some reduce/reduce
conflicts in some cases. Dragon provides a very clean and structured way
for the integration of application specific context code. Dragon combines
the lexical and syntactical analysis and the corresponding code
generation.

Changes: The compiler was cleaned up for Forte C++ (Solaris). A check for
recursive usage of useless productions was added. Support for base library
1.0.4 was added.

  Sat, Dec 9th 2006 08:43

Database
Database :: Front-Ends

About: PySQL aims to be a full replacement for sqlplus (and much more). It
has features such as history, completion, and line editing. It has high
level functions (searching for tables, indexes, count, explain plan, list
of sessions, etc.), proper output for screen and files (CSV ready for
inclusion in spreadsheets), support for user-defined SQL, background
queries, graphical output for the schema data model, object dependencies,
a PL/SQL package function call tree, and much more.

Changes: The image viewer preferred by the user is called to show the
graph just generated. The update mode (pysql -u) was added to update pysql
online (see pysql -h for proxy options). The ed function was changed so
that it only puts a new statement in the history instead of executing it.
The / function was changed to be more sqlplus compliant. Specifically, it
does not execute the last command but only the last SQL statement. The
Oracle dictionary reading strategy was changed so that it does not use
both user_* and all_* views, but uses all_* only. The Oracle hint is
respected when removing comments. Alpha telnet protocol negotiation was
added for pysqlnet.

[027] - Shed Skin 0.0.15
  by srepmub (http://freshmeat.net/users/srepmub/)
  Sat, Dec 9th 2006 01:20

Software Development :: Compilers

About: Shed Skin is an experimental Python-to-C++ compiler. It accepts
pure but implicitly statically typed Python programs and generates
optimized C++ code. This means that in combination with a C++ compiler, it
allows for translation of pure Python programs into highly efficient
machine language. For a set of 16 non-trivial test programs, measurements
show a typical speedup of 2-40 over Psyco, about 12 on average, and 2-220
over CPython, about 45 on average. Shed Skin also outputs annotated source
code.

Changes: Python 2.5 compatibility was added. Libraries were moved to a
'lib' directory. It is now easier to add modules. os.stat and various
os.path functions are now compiled from PyPy source. os.chdir, os.rename,
os.stat, os.lstat, random.sample, and random.seed were added. A fnmatch
module was added. Several important bugs were fixed.

[030] - SRESI 0.17.5 (Development)
  by Priscus (http://freshmeat.net/users/priscus/)
  Sat, Dec 9th 2006 11:16

Information Management :: Metadata/Semantic Models
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search

About: SRESI is a smart bookmark manager. It currently sports both a
command-line and a PHP interface. It works with both the standard
hierarchical trees and the new and fashionable tagged bookmarks. It was
developed as a way to interface both representation systems. SRESI can use
Del.icio.us, Mozilla, Opera, and XBEL bookmarks, and handles a few more
exports besides. Directories and tags are used equivalently, and the final
hierarchies are inferred from actual tag use.

Changes: The core module was cleaned-up and simplified. A few bugs were
fixed in the interface and core modules, as well as the PHP scripts. All
edition functions have now been optimised. This version should match the
stable branch for safety.

can load and save profiles, and is easy to use.

  Sat, Dec 9th 2006 11:13

Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: xSite generates static XHTML and CSS Web albums from image
directories, making use of JPEG/EXIF comments in the images instead of
external databases. It is not a photo management tool by itself, so must
use something else for tagging, editing, and organizing your images. The
project's goals are simplicity, ease of use, and standards compliance in
the output.

Changes: "Prev" and "Next" image navigation arrows were added on the image
pages. The xSite home directory is recognized automatically.
