[001] - bayonne 2.2.2 (Bayonne 2)
  by David Sugar (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidsugar/)
  Fri, Dec 15th 2006 16:10

Communications :: Internet Phone
Communications :: Telephony
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio

About: Bayonne is the telephony server of the GNU project. It offers a
script-driven threaded multi-line state event telephony service on
GNU/Linux, xBSD, and Microsoft Windows for building voice response
systems, and uses telephony plugins for runtime driver configuration. It
also features "TGI" for making Perl applications "telephony aware". It may
be used to build telephony-based system administration, home automation,
automated attendant, v-commerce, and voice messaging systems.

Changes: Support for using Bayonne to operate as a "public" Internet
telephony portal or SIP proxy, including the ability for arbitrary outside
parties to call Bayonne hosted URI destinations, forwarding and redirecting
of calls, and support for virtual "named hosting" of dialing plans.

Text Editors

About: CgEddie is a very simple editor for writing and compiling Cg
shaders. It supports syntax highlighting (and also semantics), auto
indentation, and multiple file editing. It uses the nVidia Cg compiler to
check shaders at run-time.

Changes: Improved auto-indentation, highlighting of semantics and
brackets, a standard wxWidgets "About Dialog", a better looking splitter
control window, and many minor bugfixes. Font, indentation, and bracket
highlighting color options can now be saved to a file in the user's home
directory.

System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Systems Administration

About: ClusTerm is used to SSH into a cluster of systems and execute the
same command on all the systems. It combines a number of Gnome Terminal
Widgets (VTE) in a single graphical window and copies the input to one
terminal to all other terminals. It shows the differences between
different terminals. Different layouts: table, row, column, and notebook.
It is a GNOME application based on libvte.

Changes: The current active session can now be saved as a launcher
(.desktop file). Another scenario where highlighting would fail was fixed.

[005] - d command 5.3
  by Dave Yost (http://freshmeat.net/users/DaveYost/)
  Fri, Dec 15th 2006 02:01

Software Development :: Build Tools
System :: Shells

About: The d command runs a command in the background and redirects its
output to a file. The output file is annotated with start and end time,
the actual command used, cwd, host, etc. You can ask the d command to
extract the last command from the output file and run it again, you can
ask it to append to the file or not, and other goodies. It comes with
handy little programs to look at the output, tail it, etc. It is sort of
trivial, but has been streamlined over many years.

Changes: "d s" now echoes the command it will execute. The behavior of "d
s" was corrected when the output file doesn't exist.

[018] - Gwyddion 2.2 (Stable)
  by David Necas (Yeti) (http://freshmeat.net/users/yeti2/)
  Fri, Dec 15th 2006 22:08

Scientific/Engineering
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization

About: Gwyddion is a modular SPM (Scanning Probe Microsope) data
visualization and analysis tool. It can be used for all most frequently
used data processing operations including: leveling, false color plotting,
shading, filtering, denoising, data editing, integral transforms, grain
analysis, profile extraction, fractal analysis, and many more. The program

[020] - idioskopos 0.4.0
  by Rick Vinyard (http://freshmeat.net/users/rvinyard/)
  Fri, Dec 15th 2006 10:40

Software Development

About: idioskopos (Greek: idio- inward, within, private; -skopos look,
aim, target) is a C++ library that simplifies the addition of object
reflection and introspection to C++ classes. It provides classes for
implementing properties (internal storage), reference properties (a
property interface to an externally stored value under your control), and
virtual properties (a property interface created from get and set methods
you supply). The approach taken is intrusive. One advantage is that
special preprocessors are not necessary, either for your own code or for
those that use your code. A disadvantage of an intrusive approach is just
that; it's intrusive, meaning you must explicitly state what class members
are properties and instantiate them in your constructors.

Changes: This release replaces the Object::iterator that was based on the
std::set iterator with a custom iterator that can be used with
Introspectable and its descendants, as well as vector and array
properties. Several unused virtual methods have also been removed to
simplify the interfaces.

[041] - Pantheios 1.0.1 beta 15
  by Dr Proctor (http://freshmeat.net/users/DrProctor/)
  Fri, Dec 15th 2006 16:16

About: Pantheios is a C/C++ logging API library. It offers an optimal
combination of complete type-safety, efficiency, genericity, and
extensibility. It is simple to use and extend, highly portable (platform
and compiler independent), and it upholds the C tradition of only paying
for what you use. Pantheios supports logging of message statements of
arbitrary complexity, consisting of heterogenous types. Pantheios supports
filtering of log messages based on severity level.

Changes: Minor fix for C++/COM compilation:
include/pantheios/util/com/exception_helpers.hpp was discriminating on the
non-existent symbol STLSOFT_CF_COMPILER_SUPPORT, rather than the one it
should have used: STLSOFT_CF_EXCEPTION_SUPPORT

[043] - PHP Sessions Management Class 1.0.3
  by Stefan Gabos (http://freshmeat.net/users/stefangabos/)
  Fri, Dec 15th 2006 02:05

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: PHP Sessions Management Class implements a new PHP session handler
that can replace the default PHP session handler by storing session data
in a MySQL database table. The session handler works just by creating an
object of this class. After that, applications just need to use the same
code to store and retrieve session variables.

Changes: The get_users_online() method is now more accurate as it now runs
the garbage collector before getting the number of online users. The
structure of the MySQL table used by the class was tweaked in so that the
"http_user_agent" field was changed from VARCHAR(255) to TEXT to
accomodate user agent strings that are longer than 255 characters. The
"session_data" field was also changed from TEXT to BLOB to help users who
store a large amount of data in sessions.

[044] - phpMyID 0.3
  by CJ Niemira (http://freshmeat.net/users/cniemira/)
  Fri, Dec 15th 2006 13:18

About: phpMyID is a small, fairly lightweight, standalone, single-user
Identity Provider for OpenID authentication. It comprises a single PHP
script that can be used by one individual to run their own personal OpenID
"IdP." The program requires no external libraries, and has very minimal
requirements. It should run on almost any server that runs PHP 4 or 5. It
requires no database, and does not access the file system beyond session
handling.

Changes: A bug related to Digest authentication has been fixed that would
have caused 'auth-int' capable Web browsers (currently just Opera) to
fail. The project was also renamed from myOpenID to phpMyID to avoid
confusion with the service provided by myOpenId.com.

System :: Networking :: Firewalls
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: The Port Scan Attack Detector (psad) is a collection of three
system daemons that are designed to work with the Linux Netfilter
firewalling code to detect port scans and other suspect traffic. It
features a set of highly configurable danger thresholds (with sensible
defaults), verbose alert messages, email alerting, DShield reporting, and
automatic blocking of offending IP addresses. Psad incorporates many of
the packet signatures included in Snort to detect various kinds of
suspicious scans, and implements the same passive OS fingerprinting
algorithm used by p0f.

Changes: The Nachi worm reconnaissance ICMP signature was added. The
psad_ip_len signature keyword was added to allow the length field in the
IP header to be explicitly tested. Inappropriate removal of some
directories in INC when splicing in psad Perl module paths was fixed. The
nf2csv installation path in install.pl was switched to /usr/bin/.

[054] - ServerKit 0.0.4
  by swivel (http://freshmeat.net/users/swivel/)
  Fri, Dec 15th 2006 23:08

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: ServerKit helps developers quickly build efficient and scalable
server programs (daemons) for Linux. The core server program handles all
configuration parsing, database pool creation, and switching of users. A
library is included which provides the core program with most of its
functionality, in addition to implementing a rich API for use when
building ServerKit modules. Some features of the API include abstraction
of thread pools, delayed work management using epoll(), database pools and
querying, logging, queues, and heaps.

Changes: Signal handlers have been added to the core server program, which
facilitate clean shutdown and statistics reporting on demand. Modules are
now informed of a shutdown and waited on before server process termination
occurs. This allows any active work to be completed or aborted gracefully.

About: sqlmap is an automatic blind SQL injection tool capable of
enumerating an entire remote database, performing an active database
fingerprint, and much more. The aim of this project is to implement a
fully functional database mapper tool that takes advantages of Web
application programming security flaws that lead to SQL injection
vulnerabilities.

Changes: The entire program was completely refactored. TODO and THANKS
files were added. Some references to papers were added in the README file.
Headers were moved to user-agents.txt, so now the -f parameter specifies a
file (user-agents.txt) and randomizes the selection of User-Agent header.
Program plugins (mysqlmap.py and postgres.py) were strongly improved.
Active MySQL fingerprint check_dbms() was improved. Enumeration functions
were improved for both databases. Minor changes were made in the
unescape() functions. The old inference algorithm was replaced with a new
bisection algorithm.
