About: Artichow is a complete framework to create statistical graphs such
as line, bar, or radar plots, pies charts, and so on. It can also produce
antispam images for applications such as user account creation.

Changes: This version comes with a mostly rewritten new driver model: all
the code needed to draw the graphs (usually function calls to some PHP
extension) are now separated from the data. This is meant to allow easy
driver development in the future, as anyone will be able to add a new one
without caring about the rest of the code. This version also corrects some
bugs and adds a few new features like new marks.

About: This driver allows the Linux kernel to use the ATA over Ethernet
(AoE) network protocol. Using AoE, a Linux system can use AoE block
devices like EtherDrive (R) storage blades. The block devices appear as
local device nodes (e.g. /dev/etherd/e0.0).

Changes: On platforms without scatter-gather support for networking, the
written AoE data was offset by 24 bytes in each packet. This release fixes
the problem by correcting the information about the headers in the packet
descriptor.

[035] - LFT 3.0 Beta
  by vostrom (http://freshmeat.net/users/oppleman/)
  Mon, Dec 18th 2006 05:11

System :: Networking
System :: Networking :: Firewalls
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: LFT (Layer Four Traceroute) is a sort of "traceroute" that often
works much faster than the commonly-used Van Jacobson method and goes
through many configurations of packet-filter based firewalls. More
importantly, LFT implements numerous other features, including AS number
lookups through several reliable sources, loose source routing, netblock
name lookups, and more. LFT also distinguishes between TCP-based
protocols, which make its statistics slightly more realistic, and gives a
savvy user the ability to trace protocol routes, not just layer-3 hops.

Changes: The program was completely refactored and is now a workable C
library to call from other programs. Many memory management issues were
fixed. Several 2.6b5 features were cleaned up. Win32 support was added for
basically everything except TCP tracing. Adaptive mode now detects and
differentiates flag-based from stateful firewalls.

[039] - Logback 0.7

  Mon, Dec 18th 2006 09:11

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
System :: Logging

About: Logback is intended as a successor to the popular log4j project,
and was designed by log4j's founder, Ceki Gulcu. The basic architecture is
sufficiently generic so as to apply under different circumstances. It is
divided into three modules. The Core module lays the groundwork for the
other two modules, whereas the Classic module can be assimilated to an
improved version of log4j. It natively implements the SLF4J API so that
you can readily switch back and forth between logback and other logging
systems, such as log4j or JDK14 Logging. The Access module integrates with
Servlet containers to provide HTTP access log functionality. You can easily
build your own modules on top of the Core module.

Changes: Logback now ships with a new module: log4j-bridge. This new
module can be used to intercept log4j calls and redirects them to logback
components. More information about this module can be found in the
corresponding documentation page. The documentation has been vastly
updated. Two new chapters, namely Filters and MDC, are available in the
manual section.

[040] - Logtalk 2.29.0
  by Paulo Moura (http://freshmeat.net/users/pmoura/)
  Mon, Dec 18th 2006 05:04

Software Development :: Pre-processors

About: Logtalk is an open source object-oriented extension to the Prolog
programming language. Integrating logic programming with object-oriented
and event-driven programming, it is compatible with most Prolog compilers.
It supports both prototypes and classes. In addition, it supports
component-based programming through category-based composition.

Changes: This release revamps the experimental support for multi-threading
programming and the support for event-programming, adds a new built-in
object for more flexibility when designing class-based hierarchies, adds a
built-in protocol declaring the event handler predicates, improves some of
the programming examples, works around browser bugs rendering the XHTML
manual index pages, and fixes some bugs in the Logtalk compiler, in the
Windows documentation scripts, and in the Logtalk DTD file.

About: html2ps is a PHP equivalent of the popular Perl script by the same
name that accurately converts HTML with images, complex tables (including
rowspan/colspan), layers/divs, and CSS styles to Postscript and PDF.
Unlike most other HTML2PS/HTML2PDF converters, it offers good CSS 2.1

  Mon, Dec 18th 2006 14:28

Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Embedded Systems

About: PTXdist is a build system ("executable documentation") for
compiling root filesystems for embedded systems. PTXdist is based on a
KConfig configuration system in combination with a set of rules which
describe how all the source packages out there have to be tweaked to be
compiled into a proper root filesystem. Once a configuration has been
developed, reproducing it is as easy as "ptxdist go".

Changes: The infrastructure of the upcoming OSELAS.Toolchain() project is
now integrated into PTXdist. Additionally, the config file subsystem has
been cleaned up. Example projects are now provided in a separate packet to
make it easier to add arbitrary projects to a local site.
