About: FlightFeather's goal is "social networking for everyone". This
means that anyone should have a chance to run a popular social networking
site on minimal hardware, and without wasting bandwidth. Whenever the
system's state changes, it generates static HTML pages. Pure read
operations (usually about 90% of the total) do not require the application
to run at all. Although FlightFeather is at an early stage of development,
it is already functional, and runs the "bosstats.com" site.

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
About: flimsel is a minimalistic digitial image browser based on the fltk
toolkit. It displays thumbnails of images given on the command line. It is
intended to be used in digital image processing shell scripts. flimsel uses
the very fast epeg library for JPEG thumbnail generation. flimsel outputs
keyboard hotkeys and file names of selected images to stdout. Images whose
filenames are written to stdin will be reloaded. The flimsel.sh script in
the examples directory uses this to implement basic image manipulations on
selected images.
Changes: An immediate segfault with newer versions of the epeg library has

[020] - Linux Layer7 Switching 0.1.1
by Alexandre Cassen (http://freshmeat.net/users/acassen/)
Thu, Dec 28th 2006 07:29
Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
System :: Networking
About: The main goal of Linux Layer7 Switching is to provide a fast
framework for Layer 7 switching. Layer 7 switching is driving a low-level
engine using networking design to speed up forwarding of the data stream.
The implementation in this project is split into a userspace daemon and a
low-level kernelspace forwarding engine. The userspace daemon is
responsible for scheduling and switching decisions. The kernelspace
forwarding engine is responsible for forwarding the stream and using a TCP
splicing scheme. TCP splicing is the postponement of the connection between
the client and the server in order to obtain sufficient information to make
a routing decision.
Changes: The kernel code was extended to take care of released sockets
while splicing sockets. The TCP listener and userspace daemon engine were
extended to support fully asynchronous and non-blocking stream handling.
wait_for_completion was fixed to use asynchronous design. The
configuration parser and daemon engine were extended to define
virtual_server and real_server. Support for Round-Robin and
Least-Connection load balancing schedulers was added. The configuration
file and readme were updated.

About: maildirproc is a program that processes one or several existing
mail boxes in the maildir format. It is primarily focused on mail sorting,
which means moving, copying, forwarding, and deleting mail according to a
set of rules. It can be seen as an alternative to procmail, but instead of
being a delivery agent (which wants to be part of the delivery chain),
maildirproc only processes mail which has already been delivered.

[031] - ulxmlrpcpp 1.5.4

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
Software Development :: Object Brokering
About: ulxmlrpcpp is a library to perform calls via XML-RPC in an object
oriented approach. It is possible to create both client and server
applications in multithreaded environments. Unlike other implementations,
it does not insist on HTTP for transportation, but might also accept other
ways (e.g. a simple serial line with a user-defined protocol). For HTTP as
a transportation protocol, the following features are supported: cookies,
SSL/TLS, proxy, SSL/TLS over a proxy, and chunked transfers. ulxmlrpcpp is
also able to transmit data faster with binary XML.
Changes: This release fixes several minor and major issues. Most important
was the ability to crash the library under high load due to the use of
non-reentrant system calls. There was also the risk of a buffer overflow
with large floating point numbers.

[033] - XMLSysInfo 0.98.29
by Moritz Grimm (http://freshmeat.net/users/mgrimm/)

System :: Diagnostics
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
About: XMLSysInfo (XSI) is an easy-to-use, secure, and comprehensive
system monitoring daemon that replies to network queries with XML-encoded
system information and statistics. This data can then be analyzed,
graphed, or otherwise presented by a front-end.
Changes: This release focused on code cleanups and getting the program to
work with OpenBSD's new sensor API. The cleanups were mostly about
internal consistency, except for code related to the sensors, which was
rewritten and simplified a lot. XMLSysInfo now tries a lot harder on
NetBSD to not leave any zombie processes lying around.
