Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: Ampache is a Web-based MP3/Ogg/RM/Flac/WMA/M4A manager. It allows
you to view, edit, and play your audio files via HTTP/IceCast/Mpd or
Moosic. It has support for downsampling, playlists, artist, and album
views, album art, random play, song play tracking, user themes, and remote
catalogs using XML-RPC.

Changes: This should be the last Beta release for the 3.3.3 branch. This
includes a large number of minor bug fixes as well as a complete rewrite
of the Album Art collection code to correct some major logic flaws. The
German prefixes for album/artist names have been added as well as a large
number of icons from http://www.famfamfam.com. A HttpQ Localplay Module
has also been added.

[008] - ExactImage 0.2.6
  by René Rebe (http://freshmeat.net/users/ReneRebe/)
  Sat, Jan 6th 2007 12:51

Multimedia :: Graphics

About: ExactImage is a fast C++ image processing library. Unlike
ImageMagick, it allows operation in several color spaces and bit depths
natively, resulting in much lower memory and computational requirements.
Some optimized algorithms operate in 1/20 of the time ImageMagick
requires, and displaying large images can be as fast as 1/10 of the time
the "display" program takes.

Changes: Scaler intermediate values were marked as const, allowing more
aggressive compiler optimizations. 2 and 4 bit per pixel gray image flipX
and flipY were hand-optimized and thus orthogonal rotations. The black and
white optimization pass now takes the image color information into account,
improving output quality somewhat. Experimental paper scew detection was
added. The Image class is may now be cloned. Initial Mac OS X compile
fixes were included.

  by Christian Grothoff (http://freshmeat.net/users/grothoff/)
  Sat, Jan 6th 2007 19:38

Information Management
Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: i18nHTML is a collection of scripts that can be used to write Web
pages that visitors can translate into their respective native languages.
It uses a database to match sentences from the Web page against
translations and defines a set of PHP functions that generate either the
translated HTML sentences or the original (typically English) text with
decorations that allow users to provide translations. It requires that
internationalized pages be written using the functions but does not
constrain the page design in any way. Internationalized pages can be
updated without losing existing translations for sentences that were not
changed.

Changes: This release adds user accounts and an administrative interface
to i18nHTML. The administrative interface features pages with heuristics
for finding and deleting invalid translations. New target languages for
translations must now be explicitly created by the system administrator
first. Files are now installed in more appropriate locations. The
installation system has been completely re-done.

two programs, a daemon called "incrond" (analogous to crond) and a table
manipulator "incrontab" (like "crontab").

Changes: This version is based on inotify-cxx 0.6.3. It fixes a security

after removing a watched path, and "incrontab --list" dysfunction.

About: The Informa RSS Library provides a convenient Java API for handling
news channels and metadata about them. Different syntax formats (like RSS
0.91, 1.0 [RDF], 2.0, and Atom 0.3) for feeds are supported. There is also
basic support for channel information descriptions (OPML). A full-text
engine (Lucene) can be used for indexing and searching the news items. Two
backends for storing the data are currently provided: In-Memory and
Hibernate (which allows you to persist news items into allmost any JDBC
compliant database).

Changes: Informa was migrated to Java JDK 5. The auto-generation of
Hibernate mapping files with XDoclet was dropped in order to have full
control over the mapping definition. Hibernate was upgraded from version 2

your Spring-Hibernate configuration. Some bugs were removed. The Atom

  Sat, Jan 6th 2007 13:12

System :: Networking
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux

About: OpenL2TP is an L2TP client/server written specifically for Linux.
It has been designed for use as an enterprise L2TP VPN server or for use
in commercial, Linux-based, embedded networking products. It consists of a
daemon, openl2tpd, which handles the L2TP control protocol exchanges for
all tunnels and sessions, a plugin for pppd to allow its PPP connections
to run over L2TP sessions, a Linux kernel driver for efficient datapath,
and a command line application for management.

Changes: A new command has been added to allow a list of connected
subscriber names to be listed easily, along with the ID of their
associated L2TP tunnel. This makes it easier for operators to see who is
connected and which L2TP tunnel is being used for each connection. There
are also improvements in some CLI commands, specifically how trace flags
and authentication options are controlled. OpenL2TP is now being used by
some ISPs and has been verified to interoperate with most major networking
equipment manufacturers, including Cisco, Juniper, and Redback.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: PHPLiveX is a class that can be used to call PHP functions from
Javascript in Web pages using AJAX. It generates Javascript code that
implements functions with the same names and function arguments as a given
list of existing PHP functions. When the generated Javascript functions are
called, they start AJAX requests to invoke the respective PHP functions on
the server.

Changes: The release focus of this version is major bug fixes in the
JavaScript code and code cleanup. In addition, a new simple property was
added. To alert values which PHP functions return, now there is no need to
run syncronously. If the "target=alert" parameter is used, the returned
value is alerted and this process runs asyncronously. Whoever uses version
2.1 is strongly advised to use this version.

[030] - PySQL 0.7
  by digitalfox (http://freshmeat.net/users/digitalfox/)
  Sat, Jan 6th 2007 12:56

Database
Database :: Front-Ends

About: PySQL aims to be a full replacement for sqlplus (and much more). It
has features such as history, completion, and line editing. It has high
level functions (searching for tables, indexes, count, explain plan, list
of sessions, etc.), proper output for screen and files (CSV ready for
inclusion in spreadsheets), support for user-defined SQL, background
queries, graphical output for the schema data model, object dependencies,
a PL/SQL package function call tree, and much more.

Changes: A "disk usage" graphical function was added to display where the
most space is consumed. Just type "du" or "du scott" to get a graphical
view of space used by tables and indexes for each tablespace. Like all
other graphical functions, this one is powered by graphviz.

Scientific/Engineering :: Geographical
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization

About: Quantum GIS (QGIS) is a cross-platform Geographic Information
System (GIS). It offers support for vector and raster formats, including
spatially enabled tables in PostgreSQL using PostGIS, common GIS vector
formats such as Shapefiles, and geo-referenced rasters (TIFF, PNG, and
GEOTIFF). Many plugins are available to dynamically add new functionality.
Viewing of GRASS layers (vector and raster) is provided by a plugin. GRASS
vector layers can be edited in QGIS.

Changes: This release adds WMS support, improved vector and attribute
editing, improved measurement tools, attribute searching, a new MapServer
export tool, vector layer transparency and anti-aliasing, GRASS support in
all platforms with enhanced functions and toolbox commands, and refactoring
of the API to allow the use of QGIS libraries in mapping applications.
Enhanced vector editing allows you to copy, cut, and paste features.
Snapping and vertex editing is now supported. This release also supports
full shapefile editing with GDAL version 1.3.2 or higher.

[038] - yruba 2.8
  by Harald Kirsch (http://freshmeat.net/users/pifpafpuf/)
  Sat, Jan 6th 2007 13:46

Software Development :: Build Tools

About: Yruba provides a rule system similar to make or ant for the shell
(bash). It provides a clear separation between a list of dependencies that
must be up-to-date before the current task can be performed, an explicit
test that checks whether the target is really out-of-date, and a command
that finally makes the target. Everything is plain bash syntax, so there
is no new command language to learn.

Changes: The detection of dependency loops did not work. This is fixed
now.
